Flavius frowns at Cocytus' complete disregard for decency towards their enemies.
"A fight is no excuse for barbarism young man. I didn't think I'd have to say this to you of all people but maybe you should go back to the wagon and cool down."
Even without looking one can feel the smirk from Flavius at his pun.

"Not sure if they're bandits, but they're probably the bad guys - it's ok to burn these ones until they stop trying to attack us." Renee said to Morgan before they got going.

She'd hardly drawn her sword when the nearest enemies were dealt with, and trying to charge a spear with a sword wasn't likely to work out well. So she prepared to move on to the next group instead.

Tanec calmly observes the battle unfolding before his eyes. The young ones - and Cocytus, who may or may not be older - are eager to advance and attack. The former mercenary leader, however, took his time. He is not one to strike first.

He is one to strike when the enemy is already weakened. Even if it puts him into a dangerous situation.

"Mind if my body acts as a roadblock for the rider, Morgan? Dowahahahaha!"

And with that, he advances forward into a position where he can shoot the soldier closest to him while simultaneously make it harder for the enemy cavalier to approach Morgan.

"This'll hurt... both for him and for me."

E8, shooting an arrow at Soldier 2.

Burhadt moved in front of one of the more injured looking... soldiers? Bandits? It didn't really matter at this point. Dark energy danced around his right hand. "Do us both a favor. Go down, and stay down."

Tanec takes his time, waiting for the right moment to strike before advancing and firing an arrow into the shoulder of the other soldier.

Burhardt, on the other hand, gives the wounded soldier an ultimatum before firing a blast of dark energy. However, the soldier didn't seem to take the hint, sidestepping the blast of dark magic just before it hit and thrusting his spear at the royal tutor.

Burhardt only wheezed in response, clutching his chest. His armor had stopped the worst of it, but it had been a nasty, direct hit. Did he have a broken rib? Oh yeah, that's a broken rib.

Emilia flashed an appreciative smile at Gunvald as she felt her pain from her recent burn start to fade, bobbing her head slightly in deference. She turned to whisper to Gunvald.

"Psst, Your Highness." She hoped she got the styling right. She never did particularly liked to use them. Too many reminders on how far apart they were. "Please pardon the overstep but could you ask everyone to not kill that so-called 'guardsman' over there? There's too many things that don't make sense here. I think we'll need more information."

What was his relationship to Cocytus? Why did he seek to contain him specifically? If he was genuinely terrified of Cocytus, wouldn't he seek to avoid him most of all? What was he doing working for people who, from appearances, would burn down villages? He didn't seem like the bad sort to her, just someone who made a bad choice. If she didn't know better, she would think he was an actual guardsman. And that's without going into the whole issue with that royal seal. It was good enough to fool Mr. Burhardt so it must've been genuine at some point, right?

“Don’t worry, I’ve got you Emilia” Gunvald said as he rode up to her side, his staff flashing to heal her for 16 HP, almost turning to ride away before Emilia rode closer herself, whispering her thoughts on the matter, considering it for only a second before nodding,

“You’re not overstepping, I feel the same way about this whole thing”

“Everyone, keep the man alive for questioning” he ordered to the others, knowing that at least most of them would follow his orders. Cocytus, Odetta, and Eydis, probably not, mostly because the armored man had been insulted a bit too many times so far, while Eydis and Odette were, naturally at least, bloodthirsty. Why they would be, he would never know, but they were.

As for the other sibling, she had always been ready to charge in, only waiting to see how the others did to gauge her enemy. At least, that was her reasoning, until she saw Burhardt get stabbed in the torso.

“Oh HELL no…”

It only took a few seconds after the stab for Eydis to jump into the fight, her Wyvern slamming down onto the ground next to Burhardt, her grey eyes glowing an unnatural red as she swung her axe, practically cleaving him in half while he was processing her sudden appearance. With that out of the way, she looked at Burhardt, flashing him a smile as her wyvern turned its head towards the guard, letting out a loud roar.

Quote from: Eydis vs Soldier 1
Eydis is trying to prove herself! +2 Damage
Eydis’ Mark is active! +10 Crit

Hit: 79-8=71
Crit: 36

Enemy Soldier is obliterated with a full 36 damage!

~~TURN ONE~~
ENEMY PHASE

While getting roared at by an albino wyvern was enough to cause most men to flee, coupled with the fact that his comrades were getting slaughtered, the final nail in the coffin for him was when he saw the rider of said wyvern. The Crimson Demon, Eydis.

“Ooooh shit” he muttered before turning his horse around, not wanting to take his chances with dealing with actual royalty on his own,

“FALL BACK TOWARDS THE OTHERS! COME ON!” he yelled towards the remaining survivor, his horse gladly galloping away from the carnage as he went to regroup with the others, only pausing once he was across the bridge

“Hold the line, we’ve got the Freezing Hammer and the Princess here. I’ll get the boss, just make sure they don’t cross this bridge”

Guard moves to I10

Enemy Soldier 2 moves to F8 and attacks Tanec!

Burhardt met the princess's smile with a quick thumbs up, one hand still pressed against his shattered rib. The enemy began to fall back, but not in retreat. No, they were seeking to gain a foothold and control the terms of the engagement. Burhardt willed himself forward in spite of the burning pain, flanking the spearman attacking Tanec.

“Everyone, keep the man alive for questioning”
Cocytus turned his head to the side and opened his arms in response.
"Really!? That nailhead lied about lettin' us go through and had been begging to get his skull BASHED IN since we got here."
The armored man gave a grunt of annoyance and lowered his hammer a tad more.
"Fine, but let ME do the questioning. These gauntlets have spikes for a good reason-"

“Hold the line, we’ve got the Freezing Hammer and the Princess here. I’ll get the boss, just make sure they don’t cross this bridge”

Emilia bowed her head and smiled slightly at Gunvald's receptiveness to her idea. In truth, she had been prepared to be told that she was being naive for wanting to spare an enemy. She'd rather be naive than bloodthirsty, she'd decided. Fighting might necessarily involve bloodshed but she'll never have to like it. She'll simply save whomever she can. And really, his reaction to Eydis' appearance simply confirms the need to hold him for questioning.

As the 'guardsman' turned and fled, Emilia spurred her mount into the air and gave chase, stopping just short the moment she saw that he had fled back beyond the bridge...and behind a line of archers.

She bit her lip in frustration. One of the first things she was taught when it came to flying was to always take caution when it came to archers. She'd had her own falls during practice and had no particular desire to experience that with an arrow in her belly.

All she can do right now is to hover in place and wait for the rest of the group to catch up, as they dealt with the straggler spearman. Just watching the enemy and waiting for an opening.

Move to D9 and wait.
