Divine Nomic
There is to be a class of rule called Holy Law. These rules govern player behavior and are determined by the Divine Law rule set. Violating Holy Laws incurs no point based penalty. Violating Holy Laws increases a player's Heresy Count. Locating violated Holy Laws increases a player's Piety Count.

Reason: I think a semi-optional religious sub-game would be fun and might help to attract new players.

Pyramid Scheme
Any player, A,  who successfully gets a new player, B, to join the game earns a point. Whenever B invites a player, C, A also earns half of a point. This stacks.

Reason: This is to help encourage players to join.

Do you have any divine laws in mind, and will this lead to crusades?

Yes and yes.

I was thinking that we could have a deity who pious players would hail on a daily basis and that players could make offerings to it.

Also, I want people to have the option to spend Piety Points to remove Heresy Points (and vice versa if desired). I want it to be possible for the largest heretic to also be the most pious.

I want the Divine Laws to be so convuluted that players could effectively farm Heresy/Pious Points.

Players could also form informal factions based on different interpretations of the Divine Laws.

Divine Law
If a Divine Law proposal is passed then it must be rewritten in pseudo-religious terminology.

Reason: This is to help make it seem cultish.

Ok, so its like a magical monster ghost/guardian angel thing?

Is it the same as say, a spirit animal, influencing what kind of person you are, or its more like a Ghost Pokémon you summon into battle?

I would personally go for a clock-punk knight with microscopic/telescopic lens eyes.
That's pretty cool. Hey, you going to give me a GD Nickname I can call you by? It was your idea.

As it stands, I still oppose this. It's too vague, I'd say sure let's do it if that was the only thing, but it also too similar to Aligned Entity. Like, I would not know what to do differently if I was to make one. I'd suggest either further developing Aligned Entities, or making them more different, possibly revising the first in the process, so that different things are clearly possible in both groups.

Aligned entity is who you are loyal to. Spirit entity is who you are.

For example, I'm loyal to the science god. Science for the Science God, Research for the research throne.

My spirit creature is a slightly broken science knight.

The aligned entity is your life's focus. The spirit entity is your personality manifested.

Your aligned entity and spirit entity could be very different things. You could be aligned with Gaia and have a robot spirit entity.

Hmm. So I did Mew because it is ""mischievous and playful".

But I am loyal to this representation of myself...

If the spirit entity ever means anything beyond being a personality test of sorts then we are going to need to ensure we have a level playing field.

So does it make sense to you now?

Spirit entity is who you are.
Perhaps it should require that it is created by the player. (And thus, also imply can't be the same as another's)

This however would still feel reduntant to the character sheet... why are you not just this techno knight?

I am trying to balance not overthinking things, but I also feel too much of the same things waters each down.

At the end of the day this is just 3 character sheets. Convince me I am wrong.

So a Spirit Entity is a personality test not meant to be balanced for battle? Or maybe later to be...?
And a Divine Entity is like a god? (Does changing that from Aligned to Divine make more sense?)
