3D Hurt and Heal III: The Final Gambit
« on: August 13, 2019, 11:00:00 pm »

Important: Players from the last two games should note that in this one you cannot spread between layers, each group stays within its' layer the whole game. Hurting is similar to conversions from the last games, and is done by nearby enemy spaces, they just don't take it over.

o = free space
s = Spades
h = Hearts
c = Clubs
d = Diamonds

s s o o
o s s o
s s o o

o o h h
o h h o
o o h h

o o c o
c c c c

o d o o
d d d d
o d o o

^starting map.

This takes place on a 3󫶘 deck of cards. When a group is "healed" it expands either up, down, left, or right. Healing has to grow from itself, and can't appear from nowhere; the new one has to be connected to an old one. The "o"s there become the number. When a group is "hurt" it is forward or backward between levels by (only!) one attacking group to (only!) one attacked group, and the attacker must occupy a space above or below the space to be hurt. When you "hurt" you choose numbers to change into "o"s. Neither hurt or heal ever happen diagonally. Got it? Good.

You may do one of these, once per hour:

Available from start.
Hurt 1
Heal 1
Move a card up or down 1 position

Available depending on current number of Spades.
1 : Ace's Metal Detector: If there is no card below, reset the Spades card to default.
2 : Hurt 2 the card below Spades. Move the Spades card down 1.
3 : Hurt 3 the card below Spades. Move the Spades card down 1.
4 : Hurt 2 to the next two cards below Spades in the same spots. Move the Spades card down 2.
5 : Move the Spades card to the first position, the top.
6 : Hurt 2 the card below Spades.
7 : Move the Clubs card anywhere above Hearts.
8 : Hurt 1 all cards below Spades in the same spots. Move the Spades card to the bottom.
9 : Hurt 2 all cards below Spades in the same spots. Move the Spades card to the bottom.
10: Hurt 3 all cards below Spades in the same spots. Move the Spades card to the bottom.
11: Jack's Time Bomb: If no one has posted in 12 hours, clear the card below Spades. Reset the Spades card to default.
12: Queen's Dynamite: Clear the card below Spades. Reset the Spades card to default.

Available depending on current number of Hearts.
1 : Ace's Wardrobe: If there are cards both above and below, reset the Hearts card to default.
2 : Heal Hearts and a nearby card 1, then swap positions.
3 : Heal Hearts 1 and nearby card 2, then swap positions.
4 : Heal Hearts and a nearby card 2, then swap positions.
5 : Move the Hearts card to the second position.
6 : Heal Hearts and a nearby card 1.
7 : Move the Hearts card anywhere between Spades and Clubs.
8 : Move any card to be next to Hearts without going past. Heal Hearts and that card 1.
9 : Move any card to be next to Hearts without going past. Heal Hearts 1 and that card 2.
10: Move any card to be next to Hearts without going past. Heal Hearts and that card 2.
11: Jack's Kiss: Choose a nearby card that isn't blank. If they have 11 or 12 health, clear the card. Reset the Hearts card to default.
12: Queen's Wink: Choose a nearby card that isn't blank. If they have 10, 11, or 12 health, clear the card. Reset the Hearts card to default.

Available depending on current number of Clubs.
1 : Ace's Deep Breathing: If you have not posted in 3 hours, reset the Clubs card to default.
2 : If you have not posted for 3 hours, hurt 2 a card nearby Clubs.
3 : If you have not posted for 3 hours, hurt 3 a card nearby Clubs.
4 : If you have not posted for 3 hours, hurt 2 the card above and below Clubs.
5 : Move the Clubs card to the third position.
6 : Hurt 1 the card above and below Clubs.
7 : Move the Clubs card anywhere between Hearts and Diamonds.
8 : If you have not posted for 2 hours, Hurt 2 a card nearby Clubs.
9 : If you have not posted for 2 hours, Hurt 3 a card nearby Clubs.
10: If you have not posted for 2 hours, hurt 2 the card above and below Clubs.
11: Jack's Flail: If you have not posted in 24 hours, clear the card above and below Clubs. If either wasn't blank, reset the Clubs card to default.
12: Queen's Mallet: If you have not posted in 12 hours, clear the card above and below Clubs. If either wasn't blank, reset the Clubs card to default.

Available depending on current number of Diamonds.
1 : Ace's Improvised Cover: If there is either no card above or no card below, reset the Clubs card to default.
2 : Hurt 1 twice to any card or cards not nearby Diamonds as if it/they were.
3 : Hurt 1 three times to any card or cards not nearby Diamonds as if it/they were.
4 : If Diamonds is on the top or bottom, hurt 2 the card on the opposite side as if it were near. If a card near that card had the same initial health, you may also hurt that card.
5 : Move the Diamonds card to the fourth position, the bottom.
6 : Hurt 2 any card not nearby Diamonds as if it were.
7 : Move the Diamonds card anywhere below Clubs.
8 : If Diamonds is on the top or bottom, hurt 3 any card not nearby Diamonds as if it were.
9 : If Diamonds is on the top or bottom, hurt 3 any card not nearby Diamonds as if it were. If a card near that card had the same initial health, you may also hurt that card.
10: If Diamonds is on the top or bottom, hurt 3 any card not nearby Diamonds as if it were. If any cards near that card had the same initial health, you may also hurt any of those cards.
11: Jack's Crossbow: Choose a card that is not next to Diamonds and has 6 health, and not blank. Clear the card. Reset the Diamonds card to default.
12: Queen's Ballista: Choose a card that is not next to Diamonds and has 5, 6, or 7 health, and not blank. Clear the card. Reset the Diamonds card to default.

Available to any eliminated group.
0: King's Final Gambit: If no one has posted in 12 hours, restore the default pattern of one eliminated group. You are out for the rest of the game.

Copy & Paste deck with your change. If an ability references an eliminated group and there are multiple blank cards, choose any blank card as the target.

If it makes it more clear for everyone what abilities are being used, you can say the card name and ability number, such as "h4". Meaning the "4 of Hearts" ability.

A few questions.
A: Which way is "top" and which way is "bottom"?
B: Can special moves 1,2,3,4,5,6 be used if a suit has health 6, or only 6?

A few answers.
A: "top" is the um, the top. Uh, the first one? The place where Spades starts. Likewise the "bottom" is...the bottom, or where Diamonds start. Hopefully no surprises, there. There's no weird inverted shenanigans going on or something.
A: The 6 special move can only be used when that suit is at 6 health, likewise 1 at 1, 2 at 2, 3 at 3, 4 at 4 and so on.

I just used H6. (The 6 of Hearts special)

Q: Is D10 not meant to be better than D9?
"9 : If Diamonds is on the top or bottom, hurt 3 the card on the opposite side as if it were near. If a card near that card had the same initial health, you may also hurt that card."
"10: If Diamonds is on the top or bottom, hurt 3 the card on the opposite side as if it were near. If any cards near that card had the same initial health, you may also hurt any of those cards."
I'd presume "opposite side" to mean "bottom or top", since there doesn't seem to be wraparound. And I'd presume "near" to mean "adjacent". As such, won't there always be only one card that can be affected by the second sentence?

Let's say D is at pos 4, they could fire at pos 2, and also hit pos 1 and pos 3.

D9 can choose 1 extra target, where D10 can choose 2.

So... you're saying that the opposite side from the top is... the lower middle?

Also, I don't understand what move you did.

I just did a normal card move.
Quote
Available from start.
Hurt 1
Heal 1
Move a card up or down 1 position

Which ability in particular are you confused about?

Edit: It might be better to just do stuff you the way you think it works, and I/peers will jump in to correct mistakes.

OH! You caught me. Thanks, don't really have anyone to check this stuff before I publish it. Yeah, that should just say "any card not nearby Diamonds".

Edit: Aaand now it does.

Notice anything else?
