No, because it's a hundred-plus levels down.

You jump back into the elevator and place your tools back into the toolbox and the toolbox itself inside your pack. That done, you proceed with dumping the bodies.

Jumping up there while carrying an entire body is going to be difficult, so you decide to split the load into more manageable chunks. You gnaw and pull at their arms and legs until they have been ripped from their torso and then toss them out through the hole in the roof. You then grab a torso and after a couple of attempts finally manage to grab the ledge and pull it up and out of the elevator. You push the torso until it slides off the edge. Soon its tumbling form disappears, becoming one with the darkness below. The second torso follows it a few minutes later.

You'd say you've cleaned up this place as much as you can. You could try to screw the grate back into place or clean up the blood, but you're not sure it's worth the effort. You are exhausted and in pain. You want to go home or find some other place to rest. But maybe you should get back to the Clinic and talk with Eiwhyl?

We'll... probably leave a bit of a blood trail wherever we go. Maybe find a spot to rest for now, till it dries.

I'd like to put the grate back on, but I guess we're in no shape to do that.

I think we can find our way to the maintenance tunnels and nap there.  If we glide for a bit, the trail of blood should stop.

Then again, they'll look in the maintenance tunnels.  I wonder if we can find an unoccupied apartment and go in through the window.  That would be a better place to hide out.

Yeah, so lets look for an apartment first, and then just go lower down looking for some new tunnels to sleep in if we can't find one.

Another option is we go to the next spire over for a day.  There's just so many places they'd have to check for us, we should be able to hide for a day.

We should be able to get out of the elevator shaft from the wrong side.  From what I know about elevator doors, they're easy to open from the shaft-side.  You just lift a lever and pry.  We go out on a different floor than we came in on, and then fly somewhere.  Shouldn't take long.

If we fly anywhere we should be able to disrupt the blood trail enough that we could hide in the maintenance tunnels with out them being able to follow us.

Also +1 to going out a different elevator door than the one we came in.

You decide it's safest for you to find some place where you can hide on you own rather than risking returning to the Clinic or to Ali's home.

The best hiding place you can think of is the Maintenance Tunnels, however this smaller apartment tower you're in is not part of the larger tower the maintenance tunnels are in (at least not at this level, maybe they join together further down). The nearest connection point you can think of is the bridge 2 levels down. If you're lucky, there will be a way to get from this shaft to the other towers somewhere around there. You glide down and search around that area. You find a small passage that might lead towards the right direction. It's barely large enough to contain you, you'd have to crawl and squeeze through it, but it's the only option you can see, besides walking out.

You remove your pack and start crawling through the tunnel, holding your pack with your mouth. It's slow going and even more tiring. You are tempted to give up and fall unconscious right in the middle of it. But the cold air and the faint sound of wind rushing by encourages you to believe that you are going the right way. Through perseverance, you finally manage to make it to where the tunnel joins another, greater tunnel.

You're pretty sure you haven't been here before, but you can tell from the general aesthetic that this is part of the maintenance tunnels. You should be able to make your way from here to the places you've explored before with a bit of trial and error.

You walk for another minute or so until you reach a large room with many exits. You find a perch on some rusty old pipes and immediately collapse, letting go of your hold on consciousness.

...

You dream of tunnels of rock and metal, deep beneath the surface, squeezing through the cramped spaces in your effort to escape. A voice in a language you don't know taunts you: "You can't run forever."

You dream of stalking through dense forests, making your way through the darkness left between the rays of light filtering through the canopy. Your prey is cunning and dangerous, with fire stronger than you've ever seen before, but with your ingenuity you've managed to remain hidden and with your own growing spark you should be able to-

...

The pain wakes you up. It's not the burning you felt yesterday. This is the familiar pain of hunger. You're starving.

You're not certain what time it is. There's no natural light in here. Must be sometime in the morning, probably late in the morning. You walk back to the tunnel you came from, but when you try to crawl through it you find out you no longer fit through it. You try to inspect yourself but you can't really tell if you've changed in size or in any other way that would explain this. Could it be that you changed so much I'm such a short time without noticing it? Could it be that you were somehow different yesterday and you didn't notice? Maybe you can take a closer look at yourself the next time you find a mirror. Or maybe you can have Eiwhyl give you another exam and compare it with the previous one. But for now your most pressing need is for food and water.

Proceed cautiously into the larger tunnels in search of food and/or a way up to the surface world.

Yup, lets make our way out.  We should be able to make it a few hours without eating something.

I hope too much time hasn't passed.

You decide your first order of business should be to reach familiar territory and maybe pick up a snack along the way. You have a pretty good idea of where you are in relation to the residential tower, so it shouldn't be too hard.

...

While exploring the tunnels you come across a scaly creature the size of a human head munching on some wires. It has two strong looking legs which it uses to hop around. You remove your pack to reduce the noise you make before sneaking up to the thing. You get as close as you feel comfortable with and then pounce. The creature turns out to be surprisingly fragile, easily getting crushed by your weight, dying with a mournful croak. This was too easy. You've gotten a lot stronger since the last time you hunted but you also feel like you've gotten more experience at it. Hmm.

The creature is quickly consumed. It is bland and tasteless. More surprisingly it isn't nearly enough to fill you. You're still hungry.

...

After following a roundabout path, you finally manage to make your way to familiar territory. From there you make it to the maintenance tunnel exit closer to the bridge leading to the residential tower. With a quick peek outside, you can tell that it is indeed late in the morning. What is even more alarming is the fact that there's a security force hovercar, easily identified by its distinct grey and black pattern and the (currently dark) red and blue lights at its roof. There's an armed droid on standby next to it, idly waving a stun baton around. It looks very much like a bulky metal human wearing a bucket with the security force's star on its head.

Hmm. Depending on how smart it is and if anybody saw you yesterday, it might not let you through without a fight. You should at least try cleaning yourself from all the blood before attempting to walk past it. Then again, it's not like the bridge is the only way you can enter the tower. You could just bypass it. Or you could just wait for it to leave, maybe go visit the grower for some synthfood in the meantime.

Yeah, lets wash off.  The grower might not let us buy stuff if we're covered in blood.  Plus Eiwhyl likes us to be clean

There might be some water pipes somewhere and we could find a valve, or maybe we can make a tiny hole in one so it leaks a bit, so we have a shower.  We can probably get by with just a bit of water, so we can get a drink and just enough water to let us lick the blood off.  Plus blood's edible.

You head back into the tunnels and look around, searching for a source of clean water you can use to clean yourself. You use your sense of hearing, homing in on the sound of water rushing through pipes. Unfortunately, your only find sewage pipes or pipes too thick to be easily breakable. However by following the water pipes you manage to reach their source, a large machine sprouting out of the floor, constantly vibrating, with pipes coming out of it and going to all directions like the angular branches of a metal tree.

As luck would have it one of the pipes sports a leak, the slowly dripping water accumulating into a small muddy puddle below it. Two small, agile-looking droids are currently working on the pipe, probably preparing to seal the leak. Based on past experience, you've come to the conclusion that most droids are only interested in one thing and ignore everything else, so since those are only interested in their pipe they should ignore you.

You approach the leaky pipe. One of the droids chitters at you but doesn't do anything. Now all you need to do is increase the flow of water a bit. It should only take a couple of shoves to-

The gushing water punches you in the face, sending you rolling away. The droids emit panicked chitters and beeps. One manages to jump on the machine but the other is swept away by the torrent. After some frantic poking by the droid on the machine the torrent slows down into a stream and then stops completely. The intact droid chitters angrily at you before helping its partner limp back to the pipe, where the two continue working as if nothing happened.

Huh. That was unexpected. Either the pipe was weaker than you thought or your punches are stronger than you realized. Well, either way, it got you clean and the only casualty was one of the droids' legs... and anything in your pack that wasn't waterproof, judging by the sloshing sound you hear in it. Whoops.

Status lost: blood-soaked

Well, despite all that, you're clean now, so that's mission accomplished. You think about what you should do next as you remove your pack and try to dry it and its contents.
