Taste the Rainbow (Fellowship)

Scientists have discovered that a wafer-thin piece of Refocyte can actually be excited and activated by intense light. By feeding light through a prism and into wafer-thin, hyper-pure Refocyte, we will create a devastating rainbow laser for use against the Black Fellowship.

I’m still wary that the Aka might be a bit much for a revision, but whatever, I guess we can just find out whether it is or not.

Also, I’m pretty sure that the shoot-a-man vote actually happens strategy phase and he was just telling us to think about it, but I’m always happy to vote to shoot Pelenato in the face an extra time for emphasis

In order to get more people comfortable with voting (and, frankly, because I do agree with the concerns), here's a less ambitious gas mask for this revision phase
(Also, one that keeps our naming scheme intact now that I think about it):

M1 Hau Kai
The LIE... is a problem, and the Grand Fleet Design Group has finally turned its attention to dealing with it and making the lives of our soldiers much easier. But stuck with little time and effort to spare between larger projects (even if those projects explode), there has been some stated concern that other proposed models such as the Hunahuea and Aka may ultimately be too ambitious and leave the Design Group with very little to show for the season. The Hau Kai is meant to be a more conservative. The Hau Kai is a fairly simple full-face mask, made primarily of rubber (incl. the seals of the mask), with plastic lenses (unless these prove too difficult to produce in sufficient clarity and strength; we use glass, then) and a single, activated-carbon filter to purify the air, although soldiers are given a couple of replacement filters -- with the nature of the LIEs, exposure to toxic gas for long periods of time is unexpected, but it is entirely possible that a soldier may have to deal with multiple clouds of LIE gas over the course of a battle.

Additionally, the mask has a heavy earmuff near each ear, which is attached to the side of the mask on one side and can be placed or buckled down over the ear in order to block the soldier's hearing. This is an early attempt to test the potential of simply blocking the sound of the Embralese Sikari masks with a fairly primitive solution, and if this works to see if Inithari soldiers can indeed communicate through non-verbal means effectively.

The Masks can be argued to provide support to landings, since it negates gas attacks.

Then again, I kinda wonder why being slightly ambitious is bad when making something that is too weak would also be a waste of a revision.

Yeah, no, not even slightly. It's not as if they only use gas on the beaches. By that logic, a new gun supports the landings because we can use it to shoot them.

Being "slightly ambitious" (it's more than that, even just the gas mask is a stretch) is bad because it's a revision phase, not a smaller design phase.

M1939 Hunahuea w/o Combat Veil
Having received several complaints about 'ponchos being hard to manufacture' and 'are you trying to open a new fashion line?', the designers of the original Hunahuea decided to acquiesce to the demands of the revision board and draft a more 'bare-bones' and, in their opinion, obviously uglier draft. The original gas mask is kept sans straw, and the entire combat veil concept is replaced with a simple hood tied down with an elastic belt to fit snuggly over the mask.

Rumors of pens flying over 'ponchos being literally easier to make than your socks' are slander. No one lost an eye that day.

On the topic of the Sikari, the revision team simply told the troops to, and this is a direct quote: "Man up and put a sock in it."; the two comments are obviously unrelated to the pen inci- rumors.
