Rest a while it is!

We shall continue on after a two-day rest.

More updates to come later today.

Quickedit: I am really glad we brought so many replacement parts.

Double update Post!

For this next one however, I was somewhat concerned for our resident hoover vacuum of unsafe drinking water who shall not be named.

Spoiler: These lands be cursed (click to show/hide)

At any rate, we've hit an actually important fork in the road. It seems we can take the Sublette Cutoff for a shortcut. According to the guide this trail is quite rough and dry, but would definitely save time. Both routes pass by a fort, no idea if all of them are as ripe for trade as the last one.

Spoiler: "Parting of the ways" (click to show/hide)

So basically we have an opportunity for a higher-risk shortcut to Oregon. The good news is that I haven't gotten any more terrible news regarding our oxen friend, so I'm assuming it recovered. We've still got 6 oxen in our inventory. We seem to have bought the perfect amount of chickens, as we are generally maintaining a stock of 5 eggs at all times.

Sublette Cutoff
Fort Bridger is a major outpost, but we don't need more supplies. We're dwarves, as long as we got a pick and an anvil we'll be okay.

Road to Fort Bridger, and break into the toilet.

I like how it says the terrain is dry and sandy, and has a great big lake in the picture.

Not only is the trail rough, its raining in an area with deep sand and the water is outright poisonous. I was fairly sure that I was going to get a popup about someone sneaking off to drink the cholera-laden poisonous quicksand, but then nothing bad happened at all.

Unprecedented.

Don't be silly; McDorf is very pick about his cholera-laden fluids. If an ox hasn't stepped in it, his lips don't touch it.

Sublettte cutofff

I think it makes sense to take risks while we still have a lot of supplies and thus are the most prepared for it.

Once the game starts to beat us senseless, hopefully the advantages that we gained from our earlier successes allow us to make it in the end.

We seem to have made it over the rockies, though trail is still rough and going is slow.

We ran through the dried goods aside from the rice, and i was obliged to trade a large amount of freshly hunted meat for some fresh fruit, beans, and potatoes. Certainly nothing we can't replace. The Rockies offer larger, if rarer game, including moose and bear. Nabbed some goats too. However, game overall is becoming more scare. Very few deer are appearing, and these have been a staple until now. I've decided to hunt more often in the hopes of stockpiling in case we get caught in winter.

By continuing down the hill, we have entered Wyoming. The trail has become *much* easier, though still very dry. We've gone through many areas where no water is available at all.

Things have become remarkably unexciting, nary a 6th life-threatening disease or spooky abandoned death wagon to be found. Notably, the locals confirm that this is where the trail branches south for those heading to California.

Fun fact: While perusing the local traders' wares, I've found that fishing poles, spears, and nets have been an option. Presumably one can acquire fish from rivers and streams.

Is it possible to buy water from the shops? If so, we should buy some

I've traded for 3 water kegs. Presumably one stores fresh water therein? It must be automatic.

In that case, we can buy more dry foods and possibly more wagon parts
Dry food being the priority

Before we begin, shall we budget? I believe there is a bonus for making it to the end with money remaining. Though of course our priority should be on actually making it.

How much shall we spend overall on everyone's purchases?

Veto buying anything, just set everyone to a grueling eating style and resort to hunting in the future, we can easily get those extra score points
