"I am become Death, destroyer of worlds."
Mad Libs X is a name that's turned up time and again, over and over, on this forum. It was once Supernerd's Zenith Concert, then it was my Chaos Chronicles (twice), and now, it has shed it's RPG moniker for a new name: Domination and Disarray, a mad libs
deathmatch. The rules are simple: like Wiki-Warfare, everyone will get a randomly generated sheet they can not re-roll, with power balances coming from careful play, roleplaying, and usage of whatever weapons, items, powers, stat bonuses, and allies you acquire from them. Unlike Wiki-Warfare, however, you do not get five random articles. Instead, you have a very in-depth series of categories, ranging from your character's name, to their race, to their age, to their sexuality, to their powers, weapons, allies, etc.
However, what is in each category is not up to me, it's up to you. For each
Fragment, you can submit many of each. You, Forum Goer X, may have Forum Goer Y's submitted Species, but Forum Goer Z's submitted Theme Music, and so forth. I'll list the Fragments at the end, they are the same as in Chaos Chronicles, but I can change or remove some if it complicates the game or becomes unnecessary. Here are the rules:
You can submit as many as you like. Contradicting Fragments in your character sheet will be re-rolled by me. And as suggested, Fragments will give you different things to use for your character.
Use of Green denotes positive attributes or traits, such as breathing underwater, seeing the future, or flight.
Use of Red denotes negative attributes or traits, like being susceptible to pain, having twice the gravity, or thinking the Cherry Sisters were a good group for late 1800s era show-goers.
Usage of Maroon indicates a Linked Fragment: so, a Maroon Cowboy as your class will automatically give you the weapon Colt Single Action Army.
Finally, Blue represents that a Fragment was GM-submitted, because I like to have fun, too.
and for general rules:
The game is a d10 Chunky Salsa, like Wiki-Warfare. Also like Wiki-Warfare, the location will be randomized. We will start with only Deathmatch, with the goal of being the last player standing. Like the latest iterations of the aforementioned predecessor, roleplaying is encouraged, if not explicitely rewarded. Completing your Objective, killing other players, etc, may still give you some interesting rewards, however.
And now, for fragments:
What a character is referred to by. A single fragment may or may not present several choices. (For example, a male and female variation, or a first and last name).
What a character is. A humanoid form is usually preferred, but I say that if it works, it works. A race may contain up to two positive traits, but can have more if balanced by negative traits.
How old a character is. Note that this can be influenced by Race if said race has a non-human length lifespan, so you may want to include some description beyond just a number.
Male, Female or possibly a non binary definition?
Because its not a choice! Heterosexual, Bisexual, Homosexual, Asexual or possibly something else.
An ability that a character can use, or some other kind of advantage. Stuff like flight, Shooting fireballs, Trap Construction or whatever. Note that a character will have several of these, so you'll want to create a lot of these.
Like an positive trait, but more assuredly NOT positive. Things like disabilities and junk. In the old days, getting this meant tons of re-rolls, but due to the nature of Random Deathmatches, that's not necessary. Make sure to still make extras, though!
A unique ability only this character can use. This is a big one.
A description of what this character does. A trait may be created to go along with this.
The tool that your character uses to hurt things.
A tale of this character's youth.
What a character has been up to lately.
What this character is trying to accomplish with their life. This will be what the player will be trying to accomplish in this game.
What a character looks like. This only covers the actual body of the character, such as skin color, eye color, height, weight etc. Approximations are acceptable. Note that parts of this may be overwritten by racial aspects should they come into conflict.
This covers minor details such as scars, tattoos, birthmarks and maybe cat ears or something.
What a character wears. You may include several variations for things like different genders etc. This fragment will have more free rerolls than any other fragment, so you may want to make extra copies of this one.
How a character is likely to behave in any given situation. A character may have several of these.
A song that plays whenever your character does something cool, or just a leitmotif. From Breaking Benjamin, to the theme song of an Anime or Cartoon or TV Show, to something off a rap album or video game soundtrack.
Have a character you love? How about hate? Well, if your character has someone in their lives that they have a positive or negative opinion on, go here!
I'm sure I missed something. Figure it out for me.
And with that, if you're interested, go right ahead and
introduce yourself.
