I have pretty much been on autopilot these last few turns, and that isn't fair to my fellow players. If someone else is interested, I would like to give my place to them. Thank you for running this.
I am interested, what’s your clan name?

Well in that case Naturegirl you can submit a new clan. Wozzies will be exiled for some undiscerned reason keeping them in the background should he decide to rejoin.

You can also immediately post your turn actions.

Thank you
It has just been a long time. I know those take a while by looking at previous ones, I asked because I found this game on like the 5th page near some dead forum games and didn’t know if this was one of them. Good to know it’s still alive

Turn 20

The Ironbeards

Smelting down the Limonite gains you 35 bars of Iron at a cost of 35☼.
Your miners happily begin to chip away at the gold, finding a particularly saturated part of the vein, they pull out kilogram after kilogram...
until they break through the vein into a large cavern, a cavern studded with gems. A cavern overflowing with them, glittering black it is covered in black opals and black zircons from top to bottom.
The Happy Shouts of the Miners are however interrupted...

YOU DUG TOO DEEP!

Gem-tipped bone and nightcap spears lance out of the darkness, dropping miners left and right and soon enough black-scaled blind lizardmen congeal out of the darkness in a frothing mass. Panicked miners run for your lives...but only one squad makes it out. At least they brought the gold...

Copperbacks

You open one of the platinum veins
You also pay all the mercenaries retainers (230☼)

With the Mercenaries paid and your Clan Warriors mustered you set out for the Second Mine Shaft, ready to take back whats yours.
The numbers of the plump helmet men seem endless, first dozens, then hundreds falling upon the seasoned warriors from all directions, overwhelming them within minutes. The lesser Mercenaries like the Deserters and the Raiders are the first to fall, already badly equipped for cave fighting, they have no chance against the tide of plump helmet men flowing over them. The Fliers of Emptiness slaying the plump helmet men left and right are unable to use their wings in the tight confines and soon find themselves cut off from the rest of the army, dragged into the darkness.
The Clans Warriors, considered to be the weakest link in your army hold out the longest, allowing the elven younglings a chance to retreat, while sacrificing themselves.
Only the Youths of Cebela Athema return from the expedition, the tales of the ferocity and numbers of the plump-helmet men sending even the most seasoned elder to furious beard stroking.
It seems there is a grudge to be settled.

Only the Youths of Cebela Athema escape the battle in Shaft 2.
Dozens of Plump Helmet Men lay dead, but it seems to have made barely a dent in their numbers. Level 3 remains sealed off

YOU DUG TOO DEEP!

Even as the situation in the lower levels becomes untenable your miners higher up are ambushed by even more plump helmet men. A few barely escape with what they managed to mine. The First level of the Mineshaft now too has been occupied by these particularly aggressive fungi.

The First Level of the Second Mineshaft has been overrun by the plump helmet men, you lose 2 Families of Miners.

The Miners in Shaft three barely fare better, fleeing in panic from there as the Ironbeards unleash more evil upon the mines.
Shaft four however is where its at...

PRAISE THE MINERS! YOU STRUCK ADAMANTINE!

The fabled metal! And so close to the surface! Despite the dire situation in other shafts your miners praise that bit of luck. The King is of course informed immediately who praises your clan.

You gain 100 Influence for discovering a Vein of Adamantine!

GM Notes:
Apologies in advance for any inconsistencies and mistakes.
Naturegirl your order was invalid so i just gave your miners something else to do, hope that was okay.

finally:

Admantine

You struck it yay! Now comes the problem. First admantine works in spires so once you discover one the entire spire belongs to you...for now. However after a random number of Z-Levels digging into the spire will cause HFS to happen. Toss of the dice and all that.

But you can't simply let that sweet sweet Adamantine lay about. Due to your dwarven nature, it calls out to you, it wants to be mined. To be used and forged and turned into things. If you don't mine it someone else will and the King is quick to get someone to do the job for him.

In mechanical terms that means that as long as there is an unmined vein, Adamantine Fever will grip the dwarves of the fortress with effects ranging from your miners mining it instead of different things, the king sending random dwarves not of the mining clans to deal with it over claim changes, wildcat miners up to temporary fits of madness, murder sprees and tantrum spirals.

So yeah fun stuff. Also just FYI the Fliers of Emptiness were Legendary +3 military. they had a miniscule chance of dying in combat...those plump helmet men are dangerous as all getout.

I. Cannot. Catch. A break! I don't even lay claim to the clusters because they're part of a public vein, is that right?

Bleargh!

Clan Ironbeard

Clan Everlives! I need wealth. You need wealth. A small deal to be made here to help you get started and me feel less miserable! :P.

I'll pay for refining your claro opals. You pay me back plus 20% of the refining fee after selling the refined product. If this doesn't net you more wealth, then ignore :). Sound good?

I believe I can technically monopolize the game and win now, assuming that's the definition for this game.

What would happen if I closed every mineshaft, and gave myself special access to one? No one else could mine except me.

The King wouldn't allow that ;)

That aside, i never realyl thought about the Goal for the Game, i suppose it was survive as long as possible, just like in DF.
Plus there is about three or four game elements which havent been unlocked yet.
