+1 to Madman's Castle plan.

If it doesn't work out, we have the teleportation ring still.

Threat Prediction: There are a pair of priests in the village who are incredibly suspicious of strangers and like burning people at the stake.

(+3 write in bonus)

You enchant your ring to turn you invisible. You leave a faint shimmer in the air but otherwise are indeed invisible to the naked eye
Learned invisibility

You scrounge around for a cart to wheel what you find from the village. You look for one with metal to enchant but can only find ones made out of wood. You take a variety of low quality tools, from hammer and axe to shears to a hoe. You also grab two ingots of iron and with it a small iron forge. In your rummaging you also find a bag of seeds. In total you gave 18 low quality Tier one objects.

You trudge with your heavily laden cart away from the village. It creaks and groans under its burden, making you fear the cart breaking under the strain. Birds start to sing louder and the night begins to lighten. You quickly touch each of the 18 objects in the cart to teleport on your command, and you will yourself back to the hill where you saw the village.

You got your tools, what now?

( Didn’t include the character sheet because I typed this up on my phone. Feel free to write up tests you want to do. Numbering your proposals (including other peoples tests so if someone proposed three tests yours would start at 4) and including your goal. This can include acquiring more  enchantment effects. I reserve the right to limit the tests if there gets to be a large number i.e. 50 is no good. )

Start crafting a masterful Hammer after giving Our Ring an enchantment of Smith Mastery. Once the hammers head has been created we Look for the best trees in the area and gather the best Wood possible. Get the perfect piece of Wood and Carve a hilt for our hammer. Upon creating the Hammer we enchant IT with the ability to Always create masterful pieces.

Teleport off into the deep forest, then enchant the pieces we gathered into a spell circle to repel animals from the line the pieces create.

Ring is enchanted with forge-mastery, then we meditate for a bit to sort through the knowledge. Craft some rings, enchant 1 to constantly detect life around us, enchant 1 with teleport, and enchant 1 with information processing. We'll go from there, maybe a survivalist ring? That is also good for setting up a proper home. Same for a ring to manipulate earth into brick and stone, same with wood. These two can be interchanged to aid us. A enchantment to make sure we can build a house that most certainly won't fall on us will be helpful.

The Hermit lifestyle, basically. And a base of operations.

Right now, we simply need many tier 1 rings. We can re-chant them later, but using them to prep a base will be helpful.

Yeah sorry, someone blew up a street in my state and took the internet down for multiple days with it.
This really happened. 2020 was wild.

I’m guessing the test will be after we construct our base

Chubby2man said we could write up tests for our power. My proposal is to try enchanting a seed to grow quickly. I'm not sure what the results will be because it's probably a mundane object that would be destroyed after one use, but if it lasts long enough to give us a viable harvest then we have a way to grow food quickly.

Or we could, you know, stick a bit of enchanted metal near water for enhanced growth of certain plants.

How about instead....

We use those teleportation enchantments to send ourselves deep into untamed wilderness, preferably by a river. Then, we begin enchanting the tools to work by themselves. Shovels, axes, and saws build a homestead, while picks and hammers search for iron, silver, and gold to forge into enchantable equipment. Enchant things as necessary to make it happen---our ring can be used variously to check for nearby people, telekinetically attract and kill wildlife or fish for food, make us incapable of making a wrong blow while doing our own crafting when that is necessary, or find sources of good ore or anything else necessary for us to build up more equipment.

Spoiler: Character Sheet (click to show/hide)

You teleport deep into the forest, and lay out your tools in front of you. It's time to get to work.

First, you try to enchant your ring to increase your skill in smithing. You create the enchantment, but you don’t feel a flood of knowledge filling your head. Apparently while you can improve skills, but you can’t create knowledge, or improve something that isn’t there in the first place.

Learned Improve Skill

With no skill in forging acquired, you attempt shaping. You enchant your ring to shape stone, mud, and wood. You decide to create a house with this skill. Your first few attempts result in a squat mud hut, but eventually you shape yourself a rather nice round cabin, made of wood that seamlessly joins together. You add a rough stone fireplace.

This gives you the thought that perhaps you don’t need forging at all to create rings. Enchanting your ring with metal shaping, you form 10 rings out of 7 of your objects. You smile with satisfaction.

Shaping: Material

Continuing your test, you attempt to enchant a seed to grow faster.  The enchantment refuses to take. You try on fully grown plants, and it confirms your suspicion that you cannot enchant living objects. You enchant a piece of metal and put it in the ground, and the few seeds you scatter sprout and grow rapidly around it, but when the plants reach your knee they stop growing. Your piece of metal had exhausted its magical energy you stored inside of it. Touching the piece is enough to restore its power.

You then attempt to enchant your tools to work autonomously, but the enchantment “Build a house” appears to be too complex. Even commanding an axe to cut wood fails to enchant.on the axe. Perhaps you would have more success with higher quality materials that would allow you to lay more enchantments.

You test various more enchantments on your rings:
Detect Life
Detect metals
Attract/Repel wildlife

You lay in your cabin, stomach hungry as you wait for sleep to come. Much has changed over the course of the day, and you are ready to let your mind rest. You smile as your eyelids drop.

Unfortunately, your sleep is not peaceful.

You see legions go forth under hundreds of banners, your power flowing through the fortress as you tuned it for war. Your body of pure Starmetal coursing with energy. War, bloody and dreadful  raging across the planet as you duel in the sky with angels and gods. You see past and future, as the Titan that you are becoming emerge in your dreams.

You wake up, your body aching from sleeping on a pile of leaves and looking out over your labors of yesterday. The life of loneliness never really appealed to you. You spent your youth studying in libraries and academies. The ability to fend for yourself was never cultivated, as your mind was constantly used to support the millions of men fighting for the world itself. Even when you could have retired, you still fought to make the people’s lives in your care better. You know that despite the peace offered here, the driving heart within you would not relent, and neither would your power. You drum your fingers on the wall.

What do you do?

A. Return to the village, gather information.

B. Continue your experiments here in peace.

C. Something else?

(Let me know if I missed anything major here, I tried a meld of most of the write ins. Lot of good ideas here, some of them came up as no goes at the moment, but that's part of experimentation. You might have felt silly if you could enchant random tools with intelligence and the ability to carry out tasks and not used it! Same with enchanting living things. Of course, that may change as you grow in power and gain experience through confronting challenges ...)

Ask the townspeople about the history of the village, how they are treated by their ruler, how happy or unhappy they are about their rule, etc. Tell them that you know magic and can help them with things they need

EXTREMELY NO NO NO NO NO NO we're not admitted we can do magic!

Well, that stinks. Enchant the remainder of our metal (except the forge) into a set of small decorative pieces---little figurines and doorknobs and decorative stakes to top fences with and whatnot. That way we can spread them around innocuously about our little dwelling or wherever we may need to. Scatter the figurines around the cottage enchanted if possible to explode into flames on mental or vocal command. Keep the rings on us in case we need them.

Head into town and proceed to the castle. Enchant a ring to make people around us believe we are very trustworthy, and enchant another ring to make our plain robes appear to be normal apparel for a poor scribe. We'll then proceed direct to the castle and introduce ourselves as a trained scribe, who recently completed her apprenticeship and who wishes for a position suitable to her talents. Court scribe (keeps track of courtly business), note-taker, treasury administrator, whatever.

I guess we ought to take the GM's hint about not going off and hermiting our way to ultimate victory.
