So my action list is:
-build another nest
-attack the hamlet to the north with 150 soldiers
-split new pop evenly between everyone except breeders
-send 300 soldiers to explore to the east
-spend up to 60 biomatter to raise all our soldiers to level 2

You have a second nest built, mostly to hold more biomatter. You realize that your soldiers have not been leveling up as fast as they could be so you feed them 60 biomatter extra to train them to level 2. 600 soldiers reach level 2, they eat a tiny bit more biomatter so there is that. You than send 150 of these soldiers to finish off the last of the villagers from last turn, of with there are only 5. Turns out that they were ready for you and have 243 militia, probably from another nearby settlement. The ensuing battle was bad, for both sides, your forces ended up losing 40 soldiers, while they lost 209. The remaining 34 militia retreated, you are sure that you will hear from them soon. Bodies coming back: 254(214 locals +40 soldiers). You than send out 300 soldiers to explore to the east, that way seems to be forest and another village past the one you recently pillaged, estimated village pop: 130. You than divide the new swarmlings evenly between everyone except breeders. Your harvesters inform you that next turn is the last turn to get the max amount of biomatter from this area.

How do you proceed?

So the hamlet to the north was moved to the east, so your scout went past it and discovered another village farther east. I changed up a lot of back end stuff so settlements were moved around and biomatter was added.

Also if you can think of something that would be a good upgrade or building don't be afraid to mention it and I will give it an appropriate cost.

You build 2 more labs, giving plenty of room to grow. You send 400 of your soldiers to the eastern village. It was a slaughter, you lost 1 soldier to kill 722 locals, only 14 of which are militia. Bodies coming back: 723(722 locals + 1 soldier). You than send 400 soldiers to scout to the south, after passing the ruined remains of the village you pillaged earlier on your soldiers discover a much bigger settlement, estimated pop 12,405. Your sure this is not just a village, it is probably a city and it is on a plain. You than divide the new swarmlings evenly between everyone except breeders. Your harvesters inform you that the biomatter in this area will be insufficient next turn and you must choose what direction to gather from. Possible gathering directions: east(forest, no settlements, estimated biomatter: 5 turns) or south(forest, no settlements, estimated biomatter: 3 turns).

You have the soldiers eat the bodies of the fallen to tier up. 54 soldiers goes from tier 2 to 3; 1 soldier goes from tier 1 to 2. The soldiers continue to eat more biomatter as they grow in size. You send 700 soldiers to explore they find more forest and discover a hamlet, unfortunately it seems that a local militia patrol decided to attack, no casualties for the swarm. Bringing back 1 body. Your thinkers have discovered Bigger Brains, making them twice as efficient and soldiers a bit smarter. You continue to split the new pop between everyone except breeders. You contemplate how to exploit the ocean. You come up with a water extractor: passively gain 100 biomatter from adjacent bodies of water, requires 100 harvesters; 20 BP. You also come up with swimming: can move over large bodies of water; 160 RP. Your harvesters finish off the local biomatter and start exploiting the eastern area.

Use 100 harvesters and 20 BP to learn Water Extraction
Use Water Extraction on the ocean
Wait until nightime to attack the hamlet, maybe the inhabitants will be more tired
