Dwarf Fortress: Road To Armageddon 1.1
« on: June 15, 2019, 09:17:37 pm »

Humanity's empire spanned entire star systems before the fall. Before First Contact. We had hoped that when we reached out into the stars, we could work together in harmony with the alien races who responded. What answered was nothing like we had prayed for. The alien race we classified as the Infestors were a seemingly numberless horde of starfaring organisms that almost instantly attacked us when they appeared on our sensors. Planet after planet was lost, and not even the greatest of our weapons could do anything more than slow them. Even our mother Earth was destroyed in the attack. But mankind lives in. Our existence continues inside the traveling island-ships we call Arks, mounds of artificial land surrounded by a disc of ocean and protected by an atmospheric bubble shield. In these Arks, we fled from the bulk of the Infestor swarm, picking up the detritus of their conquests along the way, along with the remnants of our own failures. The free androids who lived through the first machine rebellion, the monstrous bioroids who even now plague civilization, the alien races which huddle alongside us on this barren rock, these are the last remnants of civilization, as far as we can tell. But we are not alone. Fragments of the main Infestor fleets colonized the Ark ships, and while their numbers are still overwhelming, they are not infinite. With fighting spirit and tactical acumen, we can defeat them. I really hope we can defeat them.

What is Road to Armageddon

This mod is a scifi mecha mod where you use advanced technology to fight off hordes of alien invaders. There is little to no wildlife or other non-sapient form of danger. Your primary objective is to defeat the alien invaders that have invaded your home using your crack team of mechs and infantry commandos. The playable human faction is recommended but you can easily mod the other factions to be playable. Some things to note.

-Armor can only be made out of plasteel, which you make from aluminum and iron.
-Iron cannot be made into weapons or armor, but steel and titanium can.
-Infestors are seriously bad news and mechs are required for fortress defense. Even a handful can turn the tide, so you don't need too many. This is good because they don't reproduce. You can only get more by buying them or raiding settlements to hijack them.

HOW TO INSTALL:
Just download it, place the folder somewhere, and play it. This mod comes with its own .exe and everything, you do not need to copy and paste, drag and drop, or otherwise move any files around beyond the initial step. It works exactly like installing and playing the vanilla game.

RACES:

Humans: The original inhabitants of earth. On the Ark, they remain one of the most populous civilized races. Their military doctrine is focused on the use of heavy Tank-type mechs combined with typical humanoid models loaded with firearms, supported by a handful of specialized Custom models. They tend to lack infantry power, however, and should be supported by large amounts of mechanized weapons.

Androids: The now free peoples who fought against humanity in the machine rebellion, these artificial intelligences have remarkably similar minds to human-kind, and while there is tension between the two cultures they are united in their desire to resist the Infestor menace. Despite their technological advancements, androids have less industrial power and focus more on melee tactics. A full half of their standard mech units are melee fighters, and they are supported by smaller autonomous grappler mechs, in addition to powerful anti-infantry war drones. They tend to lack the overwhelming firepower of human militaries, but make up for it with durability.

Sigma: The first alien race to make contact with humanity, the matriarchal Sigma race has been battling Infestors for as long as they can remember. Their technology tends toward more organic-looking designs and while they lack hero mechs, all of their mechs can manifest flammable energy blasts which make them ideal for fighting Infestors. On the other hand, they tend to fare poorly against conventional invaders.

Oni: So named due to their appearance of being horned, muscular humanoids, these aliens are notorious pirates and vagabonds who landed on the Ark to cause trouble. Though not entirely unreasonable, they definitely have a bad reputation. Oni mechs rely on firepower like human mechs, but are poorer quality and supplemented by their superior infantry divisions.

Purush: A race of small, furry aliens not unlike a living, realistic plush toy, the Purush are pacifist merchants noted for their lack of any sort of mechanized infantry. Rather, they prefer to hide and avoid conflict altogether, relying on allies for defense. That said, they can move with surprising speed and should not be underestimated.

Bioroids: A seemingly primitive race, these artificial soldiers are no joke. Best described as designer soldiers, these feral experiments can punch through sheet metal and sprint at speeds of 70 mph. In addition, their iron claws and teeth can wear down even mech armor given enough time, making a serious threat in sufficient numbers.

Infestors: The most monstrous of all the alien races, the Infestors are masters of biotechnology and wage war using titanic kaiju who can devastate all but the mechanized armor divisions. In addition, they have overwhelming numbers that can overrun any settlement. That said, they lack any sort of strong defense. Even the hardest of their chitin armors will be cut asunder by a steel or titanium weapon or bullet. But does that really matter when there will always be two more to take it's place?

Curious, are we going to get racial descriptions for the mod's races, like what you did in Steam and Steel's thread?

That's what the reserved spots are for, I just finished adding them.
