Token for variable tree base trunk height
« on: June 08, 2019, 04:22:06 pm »

Currently, all trees have 2 tiles of trunk before any branches or other features. I propose a [BASE_TRUNK_HEIGHT:x] token for the trees to use, where x is the amount of trunk tiles before the branches are generated. This would default to 2 (or x if the tree also has TOKEN_FOR_CAP), and would allow for dense ground-level bushes, as well as better modeling for trees such as pines and palm trees, whose trunks can reach quite impressive heights before branching out into branches and leaves, and spruces, that have twigs and branches starting from more-or-less ground level.

Could a tree surrounded by ground level branches be cut down?

Yes, you can cut down a tree cutting any major branch (or the trunk at a higher level), which is a way to get at some cavern trees (without caps) standing in water without draining the water or disintegrate them with ballista bolts.
