Operational Status Report, January 2020
GM Note: Making a quick change, the Papal City is actually called Vatican City, otherwise nothing's different
Vatican City OperationsTwo operatives were dispatched to Vatican City in early January with the orders to respond to and investigate creature attacks. Their investigation initially uncovered little. Although the creature struck in broad daylight, no two witnesses provided the same description of the thing. Some said it resembled an angel, others a dog, or a police officer, or any number of things. Most times, though, people refused to answer the strange questions coming from a pair of people in plainclothes with no identification. So we turned to the
Borodina. Quite a few people were discussing this creature with one-another, but nobody could recall anything about it's victims other than the fact that they were victims...except for one woman.
She lived in a single-room home outside of Vatican City. Her room was heavily decorated with Christian iconography, and when she spoke of the creature she referred to it as "the Holy Spirit". She was grateful that someone was finally taking her seriously, as she shakily passed family photos to the two agents. The woman pointed out where the victim, her niece,
should have been in those photos, but there was no evidence that she was in them - no empty spaces, no airbrushed areas, nothing. It was as if she simply never existed.
Upon further discussion it was revealed that the niece had been living with her aunt until she could get back on her feet. She'd recently left a rough relationship, and had been hoping to start over fresh somewhere else. Both agents noted later that this girl
wanted to disappear and were tempted to test whether or not that desire would summon the creature, but didn't act upon it.
Following up on the ex-partner, the team discovered he had frequent brushes with the law, almost completely based around physical altercations. This man liked to hit people. But he, along with everyone but the aunt, had no recollection of the victim. He seemed to
vaguely recall being in a relationship until recently, but couldn't remember with whom. On one of his increasingly frequent nights out drinking the team entered his home and found a bunch of women's belongings, but no sign as to who owned them. They did manage to find a figureine of St. Christopher tucked away and hand-worn.
You currently have a few leads to follow up on for the next Deployment Phase, however you can continue a general investigation, or perhaps look into something else entirely that caught your eye.
Investigate the AuntInvestigate the NieceInvestigate the StatuetteChilean OperationsThe three agents sent to Chile landed in early January in an isolated airfield on the outskirts of Laguna San Rafael National Park. Within the first day they noted that seismic activity had not actually stopped in the region. Still, there was an island they had to investigate. The trio and their
Typhoon made their way through the forest coated in a light layer of crisp snow. Unfortunately the agents were delayed in their arrival on the coast thank to poorly navigating terrain and needing to backtrack a number of times.
Eventually the agents arrived at the shore and set up a camp hidden away from prying eyes, but were quick to spot a pair of drones flying high down the shoreline. Focused on their own investigation, the agents noted that the island did indeed exist, and from the shore they could see that the sea around the island was frothing violently while the island itself seemed to constantly churn. The people with the drones have yet to interact or interfere with our agents, but something should be done soon to prevent future incidents.

Investigate the IslandInvestigate the False Seismic ReportsInvestigate the Sea FloorHong Kong OperationsThe three agents sent to Causeway Bay made very, very good use of the
Borodina. While tapping into local phone calls the field agents were able to pick up a good few details and piece together an interesting picture - the victims all shared the A+ blood type. Upon continued investigation it was confirmed that that was the only consistent link between victims other than being in Causeway Bay. And by luck (good or bad, based on how you look at it), one of the field agents carried A+ blood.
However investigations slowed as the agents picked up chatter from another group looking into the disappearances, and from the sounds of it they knew the nature of anomalous activity. These rival investigators were also closing in on the connection and were quickly becoming a threat of interference, so they called in a little help. The six-man strike team arrived in Hong Kong and were able to rapidly pinpoint the location of the oppositional operatives thanks to the
Borodina. With the target identified the team struck hard and fast. Armed with their AK-12, a stolen unmarked van carried the team into an alleyway where they breached hard and fast through a side door. The first man through met his end at the hands of one of the people inside unloading a handgun at the door. A second man inside was grabbing papers and trying to flee - reports after the incident indicate that there was a warning call made from outside. He was hit, but managed to slip through a doorway and escape. The gunman had killed a second breaching agent but was nearly cut in half by return fire. The QRF swept in and grabbed anything that looked useful before grabbing the bodies - enemy included - and leaving. All in less than fifteen seconds.
While the enemy didn't find out anything more than we have, we crippled their current investigation for the moment.

Due to the lack of Contained Anomalies, no experimentation can be done. That means I'm cramming the Information Phase's world info here but we're technically entering the Design Phase. In the future this will be when you decide on experiments and stuff like that. Luckily...
There are currently no new or uninvestigated reports of anomalous activity. You replenish

IT IS NOW THE DESIGN PHASEField Agents: 13/15
Security Personnel: 5/5
Researchers: 4
Class-D Personnel: 4
Ratnik Combat Uniform: Russia's latest advancement in infantry equipment. The helmet includes a headset to facilitate communications as well as an eye monitor with thermal, monocular night vision, and flashlight capabilities. A handheld computer allows squad leaders to see the locations of their men in real time thanks to an integrated nav system. Each soldier also has a smaller device for receiving orders, images, and video from the squad leader. The body armor weighs 7.5kg and can reliably stop 7.62x39mm rounds.
GSh-18 Handgun: The GSh-18 is a semiautomatic 9mm handgun with a capacity of 18+1 rounds. It's easy to maintain (containing only 17 parts), and is designed to be able to fire high-velocity ammunition.
AK-12 Assault Rifle: An automatic rifle chambered for 5.45x39mm ammunition with a 30-round capacity. The AK-12 is very accurate and reliable, and can hit a fire rate of 700 RPM with a maximum firing range of 800 meters.
GM-94 Grenade Launcher: A 43mm pump-action grenade launcher with a 3-round capacity. It utilizes HE/Frag, smoke, and tear gas canisters with a relatively low kill radius in order to allow close-in and room-to-room usage.
UAZ-23632/OKB-REP "Borodina": An ECM pickup truck. Seats a Driver, Passenger, and Operator for the ECM suite. Capable of jamming civilian frequencies within a 2km radius and targeted jamming of military frequencies. Passively intercepts and records radio and wireless communications nearby. Can reach 90km/h on a paved road. Off-roading is not suggested due to the delicate nature of the ECM suite within.
KamAZ Typhoon: A Russian Mine-Resistant/Ambush-Protected (MRAP) vehicle with a 2-man capacity in the cab and space for 16 people in the back. Armor is sufficient to stand up to modern small arms, and thick bullet-proof glass protects the personnel in the cab. Has a top speed of 105km/h.
Kamov KA-60: A transport/utility helicopter with space for 2 crew and 14 passengers. The twin-turbine helicopter has a cruising speed of 290km/h with a maximum liftoff weight of 6500kg.
Ilyushin Il-76/OKB: A cargo transport originally designed to carry up to 60 passengers, though the OKB version is modified to transport a combination of men, vehicles, and anomalies.
