Oh, I was specifically referring to client side things like optifine, which need the latest version.

Also, I would need a mod list. If we keep the same world, what mods would everyone like? If we generate a new world, what mods would everyone like on top of the save-compatible mods?

There are hardly any mods for the newer Minecraft versions, and the few available are in BETA stage and have a lot of bugs.

As for structure generation, it seems it can be enabled in an already created world doing this:

Note that this enables structure generation on chunks that are still not created, so we would need to travel to unexplored areas to find them... I still think it's the best solution to keep what players have built in the last two months.

I'm almost done raising the water level, looking at the spawn area we could even raise it one or two more blocks.

I had an idea, but I'm not sure if I'll have enough motivation to do it... Make a giant map room with a map of 3000 or 4000 block radius of the known world, and name the different regions with marking points using fancy names like "Forest of Sorrows", "Desert of the Damned", and things like that... Maybe we could even upload the resulting map on this thread to organize things like roads, railways and other infrastructure.

But I'm not sure if there's any limit in map sizes

I've been designing a chicken temple of doom in Creative. Haven't come up with a good name for it yet, but I'm ready to build it.

Chicken Chapel or Cluck Cathedral doesn't really describe it. Poultry Pilgrimage? Rooster Reliquary? I might go with pilgrimage because you get eggs hurled at you.

Poultry Pilgrimage is mostly done. Just need to add some kind of basement level to make it worth getting past the entrance.

Stepping on the pressure plate at the entrance seals the door behind you, shuts off the light, and continuously launches eggs at you. The system resets when the left-most dispenser runs out of eggs, or a button hidden in the corner is pressed.
