To answer what I think the question is, a grell is this strange old monster from D&D that looks like this

and likes to hide in tall dark places and murder anything that gets too close.

It doesn't have to be a grell up there. I'm just saying that this humming rope thing is looking awfully suspicious, and I don't want to find myself on the wrong end of a surprise monster ambush.

Ugh, D. Better some exorcist gets eaten than us... but
can we try and find exorcists that won't "exorcise first, ask questions later"? If this thing is a ghost, it might turn out to be someone we know.
