Journal of Obok Ushatzar, expedition leader

I have started this journal as a document of this fortress. I was approached in the mountainhome as I was chopping trees by a very short fellow, probably some sort of animal person though I never saw his face, as he had a mask. He had a mace and a spear at his side and smelled horrendous. It was like he wallowed in a pit of dead insects, then splashed himself in blood. His name, as he told me, was Raz Talezmez. Now I didn't trust this fellow until he gained my loyalty with a large amount of gold. He wanted me to do a job for him. I said "Sure, what's the job?" And he said he wanted me to found a fort for him. But, I said, i was but a woodcutter and have no idea how to. I quickly learned with another large batch of coins. He gave me two very strange and specific rules, which I shall list here.

1. All corpses must be saved. Animal, dwarf, goblin- all dead things must be kept. No coffins either; use slabs.
2. No blunt weapons.

When I asked why, he said he was doing scientific research in biology. I doubted this, but went along with it. I took 6 of my best friends and set of to a nice looking lake. I worry about the aquifer, but I read some books about it. Here is some info about our embark.

16th of limestone, 125
I am a fool.
I had ordered a pit dug to the aquifer with a plug over it.
Mid-digging, Amost fell into the pool and drowned.
When I released the plug, it failed.
I then was going to try the double slit method- but when I dug down in another spot, on a peninsula, the aquifer was no where to be found.
How infinitely stupid.
Anyway, so far we have found limonite, sardoynx, and gold. Yay.

I've gotten more posts in the first two updates of this than I got with two PAGES of updates with Zirilonol.

Honestly, I thought that it was because of the actual story.

19th of timber, 125
I had a chamber being dug underground for our main hall, but I decided to instead build a large tower.
I also decided, for dramatic affect, it would be completely be made of jet.

4th of moonstone, 125

Grr. Didn't know there were kobolds around here- luckily, it didn't get anything from our "treasure hoard".

16th of moonstone, 125
The rivers froze today, but so did the aquifer-pool. We could finally recover the body of poor Amost, and seal a bit of aquifer off.

3rd of opal, 125
The lake froze solid today. It's beautiful.

6th of opal,125
Jet is in short supply, so I've decided the floors will be chalk.

7th of opal, 125
I've realized that walking on the ice is dangerous; what if it unfroze and someone drowned? I've restricted access to it.

If this is a reanimating biome you should make a undead mosh pit.

What gave you that idea? None of these biomes are reanimating, or even evil.

it was the "keep all corpses" and "no blunt weapons" rules. that pinged a red flag.

4th of obsidian, 125
Quite the scary winter.
First, we all got thirsty when we ran out of booze but the lake was frozen;
Two, when Såkzul dug the floor out from under himself and into the aquifer, I though he was a goner; luckily, it was a thin channel and he crawled out without issue.

15th of obsidian, 125
If we could get a jeweler's shop up, we could have a very good jewel industry, especially jade.

19th of obsidian, 125
Rivers unfroze today. Forgot to mention that the lake unfroze ages ago.

3rd of granite, 126
The new year begins with more skulkers.
Let's hope they don't start sending ambushes.

8th of granite, 126
I've noticed something strange about this lake:
In a certain place, the waves crash directly into themselves.
Weird.

15th of granite, 126

Some hippies from "Ricote Neli" have arrived.
What we needed were more picks, not whatever junk these elves have.
[Funny thing: I have never actually traded with elves before. Ever.]
Well, I was going to trade all these buckets we made, but they are made of wood, so I guess we can trade some... wild plants? For... this one toy boat? All well. Wasn't expecting much anyway.

26th of granite, 126
Some migrants arrived...
A kid...
a ranger...
a cheese maker...
a weaponsmith, how experienced are you? Novice?
...
...
LEGENDARY?!?!??!
YOU ARE A LEGENDARY WEAPONSMITH!?!?!
Come on in, you are welcome in tomejudges!
Dalzat bless me...
