Okay, this post will be a little more in depth, but I'm still not role-playing.
There's something I neglected to mention about the demons.
These are all the ones we have on the map now. Nine others were killed in the invasion. So what happened to the rest? Isn't the clown car usually like 50-100 demons? Well, you're right. The rest of them
flew back into hell rather than come into the fort. I busted down a wall and let a hundred goblins in, and they saw the inside of the fort
and immediately retreated. This fort is so cursed that it cannot die.
Honestly, if the military kills all three Cinders Demons - the ones that spit webs - we could salvage the fort. Bury all the dead, dump corpses, and put a gate on the entrance. We only have one harrowed dwarf and 4 haggard ones, and the rest are all fine. Most of the living dwarves are legendary warriors, and the rest are skilled laborers. We even still have two of the starting seven.
But I don't want this fort to live. I want it to die. So I'm going to kill it no matter what it takes.
Okay, back to the game.
There are
four boiling fiends trying unsuccessfully to kill this child.
Boiling fiends are bitches.
Meanwhile, some of our soldiers have reached the retreating goblins.
It's a slaughter. Unfortunately.
Luck has caught up with little Monom, putting us at 27 dwarves.
And then Ducim bit the dust, because he decided to charge the cinders demon instead of running. 26 dwarves.
The military, and by that I mean the entire remaining population of the fort, is sent to kill the demons.
Imik's dead, and the next wave of demons is almost in the fort. The military is almost here.
Six more dwarves are lost before Tobul manages to kill the dreaded cinders demon, Vakun. Rovod, the mayor, arrives and they slaughter several boiling spirits.
But there are two more cinders demons.
It seems these demons don't compromise between "literally worthless" and "you are already dead".
Ryukan thought he could challenge a lone boiling spirit. He was right. But it didn't stay lone for long.
It's around this time that I noticed a kitten that had contracted kitten rot, except it was lethal bruising. Some raw digging reveals that the slug demons, who have deadly blood, are the origin. I doubt it will be a problem.
Meanwhile, several other dwarves encounter the cinders demons and meet their ends. So who's left?
The three adults are wounded in the hospital. I removed the hospital, but they still won't move.
Tobul is playing make believe in his bedroom. Somehow that strikes me as very sad. His parents are both dead, slain by demons. In fact, everyone he has ever known is dead. And he's playing make believe, all alone.
So you know what? I'm done here. The fort won't die. But it won't live either. I dare anyone, ANYONE, to bring this place back OR kill it. This fort isn't my problem any more. I'm done. I quit.
