Turn 1 Revision Phase

Proposal: Roofs OS
Difficulty: Very Easy
Result: (6+4)+2=12, Unexpected Boon

Spiders and tanks are often frightening on their own. Combining the two and endlessly refining the result has finally come to this: the new and improved model of Iktomi, now capable of fluid movement and high speed thanks to an advanced computer system directing the subsystems in the vehicle, is finally capable of leaping on command with no need to make oneself vulnerable while waiting for systems come together. While this is great, and the Arachne will see use at a (CHEAP) level with a general increase to it's mobility, we also managed a breakthrough elsewhere in one of our other pet projects.

Installing Roofs OS into the Light Assault Vertical Mobility Harness systems saw it's speed and agility increase, and the Light Assault using it could now pounce and jump with ease much like the Iktomi, with the legs automatically detecting falls and deploying to absorb impacts and minimize injury from falling. While we don't hope to see that system be necessary, our design teams saw it as the equivalent of giving paratroopers parachutes. The LAVMH does not change in price.

IT IS NOW THE STRATEGY PHASE.

In this phase you are responsible for deciding on which hex you will focus your offensive efforts on. You will also need to decide whether your Outfit will act Offensively or Defensively. If they act on Defense they will automatically see use at the Hex that needs them most. Offensives can occasionally be difficult on a battlefield where cost in men and material aren't a factor, and an Outfit present can often be a deciding factor.

You can also adjust loadouts in this phase, though they should be paired with a vote against the change so I don't see something with one vote and go "okay".

"Danvers" Healing Weapon Platform
now that we have greater access to healing gear, it's time to make some actually good healing gear in line with our company values.
The Danvers is roughly the size of a carbine but bulkier and shorter, with a basic structure reminiscent of the "super soakers" of old. It fires globs of healing nanites much denser than our current medic equipment, meaning a single shot has a healing over time effect. it has two module slots allowing to use the vast majority of our modules in a similar fashion to the Australia. How does the Wellington cause it to have a healing explosion? the answer is quite simple: nanites.
The Danvers also has a turreted barrel that can be manipulated, allowing it to be fired around corners, as well as a standard attachment rail with a simple 1-8x variable optic, allowing it be effective from short to the upper edge of long-range, though it's particular useful at medium range where it has effectively perfect accuracy and a much greater range than most equivalent healing devices.

“Oceania” Modular Long-Range Platform
The Oceania is the son of the Australia that grew up way larger than it and now everyone is kind of intimidated around it. Like the Australia, the Oceania is a self-recharging particle beam gun which has three slots for UBM modules to be inserted into it. Unlike the Australia, the Oceania is “semi-automatic”, as each shot is given more material and focus — making each shot much more powerful than the Australia's shots, with light armor piercing capability latent to them. The barrel is also a hell of a lot longer (and the Oceania ain’t bullpup) and the gun heavier, which means that the particle beam shot gets much more focused, but that the gun is more cumbersome to use at shorter range (especially with the precision and low rate of fire of the beams), setting the default range of the weapon from Long minimum effective range to Extreme maximum effective range.

The gun also has an external slot for scopes which is not a UBM slot. While the scope in the gun by default is a 1-12x adjustable scope, later scopes we make could be placed there instead. (Also, the buttstock is removable and replaceable.)

The Oceania is intended to fulfill a set of different roles based on the Infiltrator’s situation and needs. By fitting it with a Kaczynski or two and a Ruby, it could become a potentially devastating anti-armor weapon. By fitting it with a couple of Oswalds, it can become a very super extreme range sniper. By fitting it with a Bonnie, it can become a battle rifle (if maybe not an ideal one).

The Oceania is usable by Infiltrators.

The Oceania was never likely to be too difficult a project, but it was made even easier by our focus on it's performance in the hands of Infiltrators.

The Oceania is a hefty son of a bitch, and that's about where the complaints end. The weapon can fire a shot just shy of every two seconds, as the drain per-shot is absolutely massive, but so is the recharge time of the battery. The particle beams are intensely focused beams approximately the same diameter as an adult male thumb capable of putting a hole through light armor and heavy cover without issue, let alone what it can do to a human body (and no amount of man-portable armor is likely to make a difference there). The Oceania is effective at Long and Extreme ranges, and to facilitate this has space for a provided basic 1x-12x scope. The inner mechanisms are perfectly tuned to allow the use of our UBMs without risk of interference with the base functionality of the weapons platform. While the weapon, again, is a hefty son of a bitch, it does come with a very comfortable shoulder strap, but more notably can be broken down and carried in a Nanite Storage System.

The Nanite Storage System comes as part of a mandatory upgrade to Infiltrator kits when using the Oceania. Very small nanite emitters near the wrists of Infiltrator's suit will, when the NSS is activated, materialize the Oceania in their hands, or break it down and "store" it for later use. This very Next Gen development will not be easy to integrate elsewhere, but it is quite the breakthrough.

The weapon is somewhat costly to produce, but you'd be hard-pressed to find someone who didn't want to use a vanishing Big Fucking Gun, so it will see deployment at (EXPENSIVE) levels. Chances are trying to further reduce cost will reduce efficacy somewhere in the system. It is Usable by Infiltrators.

Iktomi “Angrylegs” System
The “Angrylegs” is a revision to the SWT-3 Iktomi designed to give it some more teeth on the offense. The “Angrylegs” is a redesign, specifically, of the tips of the legs of the Iktomi. The latter half of the final joint of each leg is replaced with tungsten, and given a high-power heating element, essentially to create a very hard and hot melee weapon at the end of each leg (with tungsten also not melting at the temperatures needed to weaken and rend steel). The end result is intended to be that the Iktomi becomes a vicious up-close tool of destruction, effective against vehicles slow enough for the Iktomi to catch (especially if it gets the jump on them), even heavily armored ones, and potentially stationary structures with some time.  Some of each leg behind this area is titanium (still melting at much higher temperatures than steel but being less expensive than tungsten), and as a safety feature the pistons on the Iktomi are kept fully retracted while each leg is heated. There are some concerns that this could make climbing impossible for a while after the legs are heated, but in response there was a note from the eccentric engineer behind the Angrylegs: “there r 8 leggs u fuking idiots;;; use 2-4 at a tim” It is presumed that this means that each leg is meant to heat individually.

(The front of the Iktomi is also slightly uparmored, increasing its armor to around 25-30mm for about the front 2/5ths of the walker.)

Right then. Here is my idea... I feel bad that my Fluff Reserves petered out after the beginning.... Still, it's a thing. Yell at me if you see anything wrong with it, or if you have any suggestions or whatever.

UBM-Ned Kelly
Taking cover is a time honored tradition of warfare. As such, it is by default Last-Gen. Still; it is a tactic that survived for countless generations as it is typically a good idea; so obviously the way to proceed is to make it NextGen by revolutionizing the process! The Ned Kelly Universal Behavior Module is perhaps a bit misnamed; it performs significantly less behavior modifications on the weapon it is attached to than other products on NextGen's UBM series. However, what it does have is a built in shield generator, and when activated it will project a mostly transparent energy shield around the barrel of the weapon it is attached to (more towards the end) roughly sized to shield the upper body and head when held in the typical shooters stance. No more will one have to duck into cover, for they can trivially carry their own cover with them!

While this UBM does draw power from the weapons own energy supplies; it by default only does so at a secondary priority, only recharging when the weapon has finished 'topping up the magazine', so to say. In addition, following NextGen Consortium's Policy on Modularity, the Ned Kelly is capable of interfacing with other infantry based shielding units; either acting as a reserve power source or an auxiliary emitter; though due to the nature of the UBM it is typically more capable of reinforcing forward shielding than other directions. The UBM is to be made available to Heavy Assaults, Warlords, and Engineers; all three of which are deemed to be the most likely to work with other shielding units both present and future.
