Omnivisor Subsystem Disconnects

The vulnerabilities of the omnivisor can be significantly reduced by adding physical disconnect switches to completely cut off power and communication to the communication suite, the IFF system, and the extra vision modes. These switches will be placed carefully in indents on the helmet for easy access. When all systems are disconnected, the user will still be able to see through the visor like a normal visor, just without the extra features. All systems reboot when powered back on to the hard-coded user defaults.

Part of the problem is the regular camera feed can be hacked too, you know? So that isn't going to be perfect.

An alternative is this.

Boost Production

Through the use of the Core Fusion Reactor, of which we currently only have one, we can increase the Nanite's ability to construct a single material.

This may not sound like much, but by boosting their ability to manufacture titanium-type materials, we can reduce the costs of titanium and any alloys using it. In this case, the Legacy of Terra happens to use such alloys in it's construction. So, we can supply LoT Armor as Standard for all our forces.

This ability to boost the production of titanium will also help tremendously when building with it in the future. Note that this does render us unable to actually deploy the Core Fusion Reactor to the battlefield though until we manage to reduce it's cost.

If they can hack us without going through either of the only two points of access on the entire device, then quite frankly any form of digital tech is doomed to being crippled in the presence of VS forces forever.

That is kinda the point of a direct camera feed and everything else that is digital being able to be cut off manually. So we don't go blind if we get hacked.

Original Notes by the Proposer
Current technology for night vision isn't as widespread in our forces as it should be. By using miniaturized light amplifiers, we can integrate these night-fighting systems into the standard infantry helmets of the TR. Toggle switches for the activation are integrated into the armor controls, and the lenses can be removed for maintenance, as they are seperate fom the standard view lense.

This is from the original, so splitting everything else but the basics should prevent us from going blind. And we can keep the low light/night vision modes too.

Fiber Optic Feeds with no outside contact points can't be hacked through any known ability. Likewise, hacking the shut off switches is equally impossible, since it simply cuts off that section manually. I am prepared for them to manage to hack us in the future. Which they most certainly will try. So this is a good long term solution to keep us from going blind. That part is very important, since we need to see to aim.

I mean, the whole point of this is to stop the camera's from getting hacked in the first place by stopping them from actually hacking the Omnivisor beyond accessing comms.

A camera feed that only shows that which it sees does this..

Here. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Closed-circuit_television

The main point is to not actually use code, simply direct feeds using fiber optics. This prevents the camera from being hacked. There is no code to hack, and fiber optics aren't something they could hack.

This also ties into the original night fight lenses. A simple filter which can be manually triggered, with no fancy code to hack.

Infrared as far as I know is something that does require a system. As do the Comms. Likewise the IFF identifier. 3 pieces, and basic cyber security. And each can be shut down with manual switches. Even if they hack everything else, we will still have our sight and low light/night vision.

Doomblade seems to think the Legacy of Terra has just a visor, rather than a full on helm... I think the Omnivisor is a bunch of code in a single system that can be mentally used. And a zoom function for both camera and other view modes is something that falls under electronics, zooming in a picture.

Y'all, it's a visor in a helmet with internal components. Think the Spartan helmets from Halo. Turning off the other systems ought to leave just normal vision. Just in case, I explicitly said so in my revision.

Given the fact I was given the wrong information yesterday... Ugh. If I have to deduce off of vague information, you can expect there to be issues.

... Really MoP? I can't state the fact that I can't...

Faulty info in, faulty conclusion out of my head. It is that simple. I can't help how my brain works.

Um? Not to point too fine a point, but if I misread something, that means I am processing faulty info.

Also, that is really really petty in some ways, but normal in others. hua..
