Orobas simply looks at Keith's fist, and back at him, confused briefly, before shaking his head.
"Piper. You'd better not die to that Goddess Dragon." "Einherjar! Show your true faith! Quash these unbelievers!"A loud battle cry roars over the beach as the faithful dead of Freya begin sprinting towards the gathered allies of Team F. Orobas turns back to face Pyra, only for a fireball to smash directly into him, engulfing him.
However, instead of being blown off his feet like you would expect, when the fireball dissipates, Orobas remains standing, glaring intensely at the fire goddess.
"W-what-?" "I have been alive for three thousand years, goddess. I've been around since the last Demon Lord. Do you really think some tiny fuckin' fireball is going to get rid of me so easily?!"The grizzled old demon roars and leads the charge, Trish, Rena and Lucifer right behind him.
Mephistopheles looks to the group.
"I know the way. Follow me."
Through winding, black stone corridors and up spiral staircases, Team F, led by Mephistopheles, arrives at a large room with a pair of white marble doors. Or, at least they would be there, if they hadn't been blasted off their hinges, and lying in ruins strewn upon the red carpet leading to the middle of the room.
"Lady Demogorgia's casket is in here...."Without another word, Mephistopheles runs in, the party following close behind.
The chamber holding the casket of the previous Demon Lord was vast, soaring columns reaching to a plain stone ceiling far above the floor, but scarcely adorned, with only a red carpet leading to a stone dais on the other side of the room. Upon the dais, a golden casket with a glass cover sits, illuminated by a skylight allowing sunlight to shine down upon its occupant.
"...my queen deserved to have the sun shine upon her. But not like this." "How sentimental. For a demon."Freya descends from above, standing between them and the casket.
"You witch. Don't you dare get anywhere close to my queen!" "Oh? Would you not like your queen returned to you?" "What?" "I intend to bring her back, of course. As a gracious goddess always rewards her creations." "Stop with your lies! You would never-" "Oh. Don't get me wrong. It's not entirely altruistic. After all, if I resurrect her, my sister won't be able to." "Wait, that's why you're here?" "What you can do, I can do better, sister mine. Then, when I'm done here, and done making sure you won't rat my entire scheme out....I'll have Demogorgia imprisoned. Far away. It'll be comfortable, of course. I'm no monster, unlike her and her filthy subjects. But far enough away that my dear mother won't have to worry about finding the truth." "I'll kill you first!" "Dear, you couldn't kill me if I let you." "Why are you even doing all this?" "You wouldn't get it. You've always been the reject of our little godly family. The runt. The fuck-up. I have been trying so hard to be the best daughter I can be for our mother, unlike you! So, I feel I deserve some form of reward for my hard work making up for the past. Something like....becoming the Queen of the Gods, for instance, when our mother steps down. But if Mother ever found out the truth, well...."Freya giggles.
"I can't let Mother know the truth. It would ruin everything. If someone like you could even comprehend what we're dealing with, maybe you'd agree with me." "It can't be worth plunging Generia into eternal war and killing or silencing everyone who knows anything about it! What kind of monster are you?!" "The reject, the screw-up, calling me, the perfect daughter, a monster?! How presumptuous."
