I've never played this game before, and I fully intend to jump into play headlong. This means I am going to say stupid stuff. Be warned.

On a completely unrelated note, I'm probably gonna be away during the first four hours or so of play. I'll try and make up for lost time later today.  :-\

I've played a few times before, but it's been a while since last time and I also feel like I'm going to make a lot of newbie mistakes. I just hope I don't get lynched too early.

Don’t be scared of looking like an idiot. Mistakes are how you learn. We might be a bit harsh, but we’ll at least appreciate the effort. If you die, questions in the dead thread are good, and also after the game.

DAY ONE

Finally, 72 years into its development cycle, Dwarf Fortress had a full multiplayer mode. Twelve players logged into the server and set about cooperatively building a fort. It's name was Serkibrërith and it was doomed from the start. While most of the players wanted a nice productive fort of happy dwarves, a small cabal were intent on !FUN! at all costs. Pumping magma into the alpaca pen was the last straw and the server collectively decided that some players needed to be kicked.

The only problem was, because of the janky interface, nobody could be properly certain who implemented what change. The only way to proceed was through random finger pointing and judicious use of mod powers.
