Procedurally Generated Mafia 2
Proc-Gen Mafia is a normal game of mafia except that the role powers are procedurally generated using
this generator. You could call it semi-open in design, as the source code for the generator will be public at the start of the game.
The previous game can be read here. Players will be given roles that look like this:
Evil Warp: Once per night you can redirect the actions of your target to a random player.
Elite Vampire: Once per night you can give a random ability to everyone targeting your target.
Friendly Magnet: If someone targets you with a priming they will be given a piece of fruit.
Confused Randomizer: If someone targets you, a random player will morph into your role.
Cryptic Angel: Twice per night you can give an extra vote to a dead player until the next lynch.
Peculiar Skulker: Once per night you can protect your target's target.
Basic rules:
- No PMing to anyone but me, the mod.
- No Quoting of the Mod in relation to PMs. You are free to quote anything in the thread. You may also paraphrase.
- Semi-hammers in effect. Days last on a soft 72 hours, unless majority is voting for any player or No Lynch. If a player is hammered, there is to be no more talking. If you accidentally post something after the hammer, you can and should edit out the post.
- Nights last 24 hours or whenever all the actions are sent in. If you do not wish to action, please send a PM stating so.
- Extensions are only by GM discretion. Please be active.
- Vote by putting player names in bold and red: Bold and Red.
- Use powers by sending a PM to the mod with the name of the player you want to target; scum can do this using their Quicktopic.
- Players are limited to one action per night unless otherwise stated.
- Mafia have a shared night-kill that one of them can use each night. This ability doesn't appear on censuses and cannot be swapped out or otherwise removed from a mafia player.
- Serial Killers start the game with two abilities, at least one of which is guaranteed to be capable of killing, whether directly or indirectly.
- Mode of death (poison, kill, arson etc.) is revealed on death.
- Ties at end of day are randomly resolved.
- Non-players can have spoilspec access to the dead chat, on request.
- Players are invited to treat each other with respect and help make the game a welcoming and fun experience for others.
Town: You win when all scum team members and serial killers are dead and at least one town player is alive.
Scum: You win when all living players are of your scum team and there is at least one living player.
Serial Killer (11 players+): You win when everyone who is not you is dead.
Players of all alignments may win after their own death so long as their win condition is met.
- In general, players are not informed of whether they are successful in their action.
- In general, players are not informed of who targeted them. This includes the Inform ability (i.e. informing a player of your alignment will send them a message which says "Town" if you are Town, it won't say "NQT is Town".
- If you're unsure what your power does, I can clarify.
- Poison kills the target at the end of the next phase (i.e. a night-poison will kill the target at the end of the next day).
- Infect kills the target at the end of the next cycle (i.e. a night-infect will kill the target at the of the following night.
- If a player is infected, anyone they target will also become infected.
- Players are not informed when they are poisoned or infected or primed.
- Unlike Priming, Igniting automatically targets everyone, regardless of the wording of the power, and cannot be redirected (though players can be immune). Anyone Ignited who was already Primed will die, anyone Ignited without being Primed will live.
- A Role is a role name + all abilities the player with that role name has - their mafiakill, if they have one.
- If a role allows you to use it twice in a phase and you can pick your target(s) then you can change targets between usage.
- Unless a power states that it targets a random player or yourself, it normally cannot self-target. I.e. if your power is once per night you can block your target, you can't choose yourself.
All actions happen simultaneously except where there could be a conflict, all conflict is resolved using the following order of resolution. Where conflict of interpretation remains, precedence will be decided randomly.
Mimic (resolves using the mimiced power's resolution)
Block
Delay
Redirect
Gift
Brainwash
Frame
Poison/infect
Save
Kill/Prime
Ignite
Investigate
Inform
Swap
Census
So for example, if Al ignites Bert (who had already been primed), and Bert gives an investigation to Al, while Chad uses a census of all powers held by living players, Chad will get a list which will include Al's powers (including Ignite, and Investigation), but won't learn Bert's powers (as Bert's death is resolved before the census).
