Twilight City has always been a strange place. The small coastal city, nestled within a valley, feels as if it is a world within itself. Few ever come to visit, and most who leave, never return, and for good reason. Strange things go bump in the night, and mysterious forces lurk in the unseen gloom of this strange place. And in recent times, the nights seem to grow longer and darker...Dark Matters is a management style game where you found and lead a cult in an attempt to take over, or destroy, or otherwise survive in Twilight City. Players will discover many different avenues for exploring the occult history of this world, and come to harness the power of their chosen path. Along the way you will discover hidden texts, containing dark secrets, summon monsters to do your bidding, and avoid the eyes of those who would seek to stamp protect this place from the influence of the dark forces of which you partake. The majority of this game will be spent trying to discover and decipher occult information and making your way though this strange world.
Character Stats:
Health is how physically fit you are at any given time. Health is important for physical conflicts, as well as expeditions. Many actions will use health, and health can be decreased by taking damage or contracting an illness.
Vitality is the result of healthy living. Exercise, eating well, and general good health will result in vitality. Unlike health, which is permanent, vitality is temporary and will slowly disappear. It is often used to increase overall health, to heal injuries and illness, or expended in certain rituals.
Logic is how smart you are. It is important for enterprises of the mind, such as studying ancient texts and is useful in some lines of work. Most scholarly actions will use logic, and high level texts will take a lot of logic to decipher.
Insight is the result of an active mind. Stretching your mind, expanding your horizons, and generally living as an intellectual will create insight. Unlike logic, which is permanent, insight is temporary and eventually diminishes. In many cases, particularly difficult challenges will require logic to solve. Furthermore, it can be used to increase overall Logic or overcome some types of psychic trauma.
Passion is the final permanent stat your character possess. It encompasses creativity and devotion. Passion is useful in creating works of art, as well as in the recruitment of cultists and performance of rituals. However, the toil of day to day life can often take a toll on passion.
Fervor is the result of a passionate existence. While it can be used to increase passion, it is also useful for inspiring followers, performing rites and summonings, and engaging in less than savory activities.
