"Niels, help Siegfried." The Captain then knelt by Brunhilde and helped her off the ground.

"You allright?"

"Aye, captain."
Niels dismounted next to the downed knight, carefully uncorking a bottle of medicine and dripping it down Sieg's throat.

"Naptime's over, Siegfried. Up you come."

[Swordstar]

"Ah, yes captain. I apologize for my poor performance there towards the end of battle. I should not have been so careless as to underestimate their knives. Small wounds can add up, especially with a condition such as mine... Still, a-at least we managed to save some villagers. This was tragedy enough with the lives that were lost. I cannot imagine if more had been. Do we have any idea what these men were after? They appear to be Overseaslanders. What gain do they have from attacking such poor people and not even attempting to raid goods?"

[Haspen]

"I am not sure..." The Captain pulled out the blood-stained sheets of paper, covered in gibberish of random letters.

"We will have to bring these back to Blumhart, and pass them to Reich crytographers. Also-" The Captain looked at soutern gate, as some villagers returned, staring at the carnage.

"I'm sure I saw some of the bandits use some of Reich equipment in combat. See if you can find any of those. Anything bearing Reich markings needs to be confiscated. I will talk with the villagers for now." Captain Astleich sheathed his sword and walked down the road to the gate.

[Swordstar]

"Reich weapons? But that doesn't make any sense... Why would..."

Too late, the captain had already left and Brun was left to complete her thoughts to herself.

Why would anyone use Reich weapons unless it was to frame us?

That unsettling thought floating around her head, she turned to the task of collecting weapons.

[Haspen]

Just a moment of search later, Brunhilde found not one but two Reichsabers amongst the bodies of felled bandits.

They had all the markings of the weapon manufactories at Eurice.

[Chevaleresse]

Siegfried slowly lifted himself back to his feet, using his spear as leverage.
"Ah, thank you, Eisenmarke. Bandits, you know, they can be quite tiring." He took a deep breath, and seemed to be about to speak, when the topic of the weapons used came up. He stayed quiet until it seemed there was a good opportunity to speak.

"Do those weapons mean anything, Captain?" He walked alongside the man for now; he wanted to see if what remained of the village was okay. "There are plenty of those in these Overseaslands already." He gestured vaguely with his own weapon for emphasis.

[Haspen]

"Their production is stricly controlled, though..."

"Excuse me, sirs-" The woman in front of the group of survivors stepped forward.

"Mmyes?"

"I-I want to speak with your leader..."As the Captain blinked in surprise, the peasant girl took Siegfried's hands and squeezed them.

"Thank you muchly, sir! We never thought Reich soldiers would save us. If not for you and your men, we would've been all slaughtered like lambs for a feast!" The villagers behind her nodded and murmured in total agreement.

The Captain stared - quite amused, too - at Siegfried.

[Chevaleresse]

Siegfried blinked almost in unison with the Captain, before scratching his head awkwardly.
"Ah, well, I'm just glad to have helped somebody. But, ah, I'm just a simple knight. Captain Astleich is the one to thank, here."

[Haspen]

"Ah! If he is a captain, then you must be a General? A colonel, at least!" The woman turned around briefly.

"You guys hear this? An important Reichman himself came to save us!" The murmuring only grew louder as the woman unclasped a necklace from around her neck and placed it in Siegfried's hands.

"We're poor and have no money to reward you, but please take this necklace. It was my grandfather's, he said it is magical. I'm sure it will bring you victory and such!" The girl pushed Sieg's hands to him, implying she won't accept it back.

Siegfried gets Talisman!

Only then did the Captain step in.

"Not to be a bother, but do you need help?"

"You've already helped a lot! We couldn't ask for more."

"Alright... how about this - we've been told that strange people are showing up around Abado as of late. Someone here saw them, right?"

"Oh, you might ask our innkeeper, Romuald. If there are any rumors or strange things happening, he knows them all."

"Thank you. One more thing, I'm sure that some Troian militia might come by on a patrol sooner or later. Please make sure that you explain to them thoroughly what has happened here."

"Of course!"

[GiglameshDespair]

Niels laughed and gave a companionable shove to Siegfried's shoulder.
"Sounds like you've been promoted, knight-general Siegfried."

"Anyway, you say their production is strictly controlled, captain - but there's no way in being distributed that a few weren't lost, sold on corruptly or even taken in combat, surely."
