"Perhaps he understands." He shrugged. "I hadn't heard much about her at all. My father assured me the rumors were exaggerated."

”What purpose was served in your leaving then. Did you have other plans? Is there someone that girl should never ever hear about the existence of?”

Siegfried gave a startled look to Altha at the mention of there being someone else, but quickly smoothed it over.
"I didn't want to be sent overseas to be a tool for my father's political machinations. I would much rather serve the people of the Reich."

"You didn't want to be a political tool, so... You joined the military? "
Niels grinned.
"Admit it, Siegs. You're a handsome lad. You were just having too much fun playing the conquering knight with the ladies to get married."

Glancing over the items for sale, Brun shook her head.

"Perhaps of they had the elixers, but I think the group should be ok with what we have... Though perhas am antitoxen or two? We have yet to face poison but given our last adventure, well, perhaps one can never be too safe..."

”Not wanting to be used... that I can understand at least... she said, looking away from them.

"For me? The Drachenreiters are some of the best of the Reich's military. My brother's a lieutenant in them, so I grew up hearing his stories."

While they were walking to the staff shop, Simona thought of something.

"Say, Brun, if I can ask, what's your take on the other members of your team? It seems like a bit of an odd bunch, for a group of soldiers."

Siegfried coughed. He had to admit, jokes about bestiality were a bit beyond what one usually heard in his social circles.
"No, I rather prefer the company of other people."

The group arrived at the shop of an elderly staff-maker. Wooden shafts in various stages of carving were piled behind him, and he was busily attaching lens, crystal, and some adhesive to a carved shaft.

He looked up at the arriving girls, and put the items on a piece of cloth, prepping the shaft against his desk.

"Welcome to Joachim's. How can I help you?"

Brun gave a small shrug.

"Well... Altha I hardly know. She joined us here, but she seems well versed in a variety of knowledge. Even recognizing the smell of whatever was used to blow up that underground facility. The other two...

She hesitated, glancing at Shae.

"Well, Sieg is very reserved. Quiet, somewhat... Mmm... Easily overwhelemed perhaps? Flustered might be the better word. But only outside of battle. In battle, he is solid, a good defensive person to have on your side. As for Niels, well. He is good at what he does. A solid fighter and rider. His family trains wyverns I believe, so perhaps he has a natural talent with them. He is more easy going, less stiff than Sieg, I would say. At least that's how he used to be. I'm not sure if he still is, I didn't spend much time with him on our trip here.
