The woman tried to push herself up against the crates but failed, slumping onto the floor.

"Who are you working for?"

"Screw you..."

"You're not helping yourself in this situation." The woman glared at the Captain.

[Furtuka]

Altha ignored the confrontation, preferring to leave that to the captain, and instead gingerly picked up the odd book the woman had dropped. She began turning it over examining it, being careful not to open it until she was sure it wasn't some sort of exploding tome or an antique or such.

[Haspen]

It was a book full of mystical fighting techniques.

The Captain pointed his saber at the woman.

"I've told you, it's the end of this-"

"And I... have told you that... you're not leaving this place alive, huh?" She suddenly breathed her last, just as smoke began to rise from one of the sealed boxes in a thin wisp.

A very irritating, pudgent smell of vinegar filled the room rapidly.

[GiglameshDespair]

Niels took a step backwards, cautiously.
"...What is that? I think it's time to go."

[Furtuka]

Altha's head immediately snapped up upon smelling the smoke, and her eyes widened, recognizing clearly the smell of burning explosive paste from past visits to the alchemy labs.

"EVERYBODY, GET OUT OF HERE, NOW!" she screamed, her voice raising to an uncharacteristically loud shriek as she ran towards the exit

Brun didn't need a second warning. She began sprinting out of the room, following Altha as close as possible. Nothing about this seemed ok. Time to be gone.

Siegfried, being at least intelligent enough to know when standing around was a bad idea, hurried after his companions, armor clanking against the stones of the catacomb as he went.

"Get out of here!" Altha screamed and thus Niels got.

The Captain ran in the rear, making sure that his subordinates were-

And then, there was an explosion.

It was all darkness for the Reich investigators.

Did they all die? Or were they simply knocked uncounscious?...

The first thing that Siegfried could notice was the white, plastered ceiling of the bedroom. Then he could notice the orange sky through the windows to his left. To his right, however...

"Good afternoon, Siegfried. How are you feeling?"

Siegfried blinked. The last thing he remembered was fleeing from whatever trap that woman had set up.

"Captain Astleich?" He shook his head, realizing that he'd been asked a question and attempting to sit up. "I'm alive, which means I should be perfectly healthy before long, but what about the others?"

[Haspen]

"They're alright, and are eating a meal in the hospital's dining hall. Want to join them?"

Meanwhile, downstairs...

"Carrot chicken broth." The old kitchenlady placed a large, steaming pot of broth in the middle of the table, and set down a plate with several slices of rye bread.

"You ain't leavin' the place until all is eaten." She then paced away, leaving the trio at the table alone.

Altha seemed close to slamming her face into the soup bowl from tiredness.

"Why was I... dragged down here again...?

The main door to the hall opened, and the Governor moved inside, with two ladies in tow.

"Greetings." He stopped by the group's table.

"I've been told that Captain Astleich is in here, but I do not see him." The bearded man looked about. "Did he leave?"
