Is it possible to make one creature that works like a swarm of smaller creatures? I'm thinking a diseased flock of pigeons here...

I'm not sure, but I suppose I could make diseased pigeons and capture a flock of 'em to stick in the arena.

Possible, but you'll need custom bodyparts - the pidgeons. Not sure if those are allowed, although I see no reason why they shouldn't be.

I should be revising for an exam for tomorrow but what the hell, I'll learn to mod creatures in DF instead... give me 5 to look at the creature modding on the wiki

Make the pigeon flock [no_pain] [no_fear] Make each body part its own pigeon (Because lets be real if you hit a pigeon with a weapon or even punch it, its gotta die) Still, I think if you do manage to hit one of the pigeons it will get lopped off which won't make much sense. Maybe you could make a pigeon master with a ton of pigeons as his attack weapons, but if you hit the pigeon master you can it all at once :P

If you look at the file so far, each pigeon is connected to a spirit, which is kind of like the pigeon master body. I forsee hilarity if, in adventure mode, someone were to "yellow" it.

The Diseased Pigeon Flock's spirit has been broken!

May I still enter one?  I almost have it balanced (testing against normal megabeasts, I think I have my damblock too high still).
