The issue with mechanising our infantry like that at the moment is that our infantry is rather... bad. We need better infantry before a transport like that becomes worthwhile.

We've only got so much resources, and we don't have the funds to spare on getting transport mechs at this stage.

It's not for just infantry though. It's to help improve our overall supply line.

I don't think that's going to be an issue? Or at the very least, there's far, FAR more practical ways to actually deal with those issues.

We can easily adapt our infantry to how the Therampolus turns out in designs or revisions afterwards.

Mechanized infantry seems limited (and not taking advantage of the setting IMO)

You should really look to the wilderness for your stealth ideas, it has been doing it much longer than you have after all. Take squids for example, that ink trick works pretty well, and in water too! So you just sneak into the dam upsteam, dump several megatons of distressed squid into it, then break the dam. Boom, you suddenly have enough water-proof stealth for a whole city!

Well, the big thing about the mech infantry is that currently, our basic infantry is shit. And we need a revised or better unit for that. And I want to save the revision for fixing our aircraft engines.

The other thing is that to get a combat mech out is going to be massively expensive. Unless we're not going to build some this turn, we can't really afford to do that AND design a transport mech this turn.

I know I am going to eat these words later, but is it common to ignore votes? I was the second person to vote for MI, not the first or only one.

Seems it all worked out. Still worth pointing out.

How are people making claims like our infantry or our aircraft are shit? I do not see information on this in our OP or the core OP.

Oh. Yep. Got it.

Why are we not all voting to fix this??

It’s common to not include someone as voting for their own design unless they vote for it.

Weird (thank you)
Not so weird, seeing as it could be a "Idbecoolif" concept rather than something they particularly want this turn.

As for what I want for our Design... Nope, still want a Mech scale railgun for hunting the enemy's superior Mechs.

Design: Mechanised Infantry
Given the poor state of our infantry's mobility and training, a review and oversight program established that not only could the training for the infantry be improved, their armament and transport could also. By building new training facilities, standardising the training and tactics of the infantry, in addition to providing them with IFVs to transport the units, would give our infantry a very large edge in mobility and efficacy.

I did get carried away with the Therampolus but the concept is still there -- a large (but nowhere near as giant as I've implied the Therampolus to be) infantry transport/support vehicle. But yeah. That'd be better in the near future, not now.

So here's my infantry design. Taking advantage of the setting and existing tech to do something cool, but more importantly, and practical.

Infantry Corps
The militia was hastily scrambled together from the first people we saw after the breach with the first weapons we could find. This won't do. We need to create a proper infantry division to compete with the new way of battle.

Equipped largely with carbines for close-quarters combat with enemy infantry where our other assets can't make enough of a difference as well as for personal defense, their main piece of equipment is the Grapple Launcher -- a much smaller (and much weaker) and cheaper version of the Harken Launcher Array we already have. A soldier's grapple launcher can be fired at enemy vehicles (and most importantly, mechs); then the soldier can either whisk themselves to wherever they grappled (we recommend making sure there's nothing in the way first) or collaborate with other Grapple Launcher-equipped infantry to immobilize or bring down enemy assets. Surface-to-air missile launchers can be and are utilized as well, though the Grapple Launcher is expected to be the number one piece of equipment.

The Infantry Corps is trained via new training facilities to make the best use of their Grapple Launchers as well as skirmishing tactics, quickly moving with their grapples (and just running) to get an advantage on infantry or other enemy assets too small to be properly grappled. They're taught how to do the most damage to mechs & other vehicles while on them and using their Grapple to stay latched onto them, or how to bring them down via multiple Grapple Launchers.
In order to allow for greater mobility, their armor and kit is fairly light. They should be avoiding getting shot at rather than fighting through getting shot at. They just have some other standard infantry gear and miscellaneous cheap tools/weapons to help damage enemy assets up-close.

TL;DR: We need infantry that can make a difference where mechs can involved. Luckily for us, we already have tech -- the Harken Launcher Array -- that we can derive from to accomplish this in a cheap (and cool) way.
