I timed two transits with and without the hover pack, and with definitely wasn't faster. It didn't have power the whole way, but it very definitely wasn't faster.

93 hours, 15 minutes later - mission complete!

My dedication to naturalistic building is apparent - only 2,044 foundations built.

I snagged 150 Mercer Spheres in the last moments while I waited for the final nuclear pasta to build... then found two more spheres on the way back to base.  ::)

Currently at 83/100 hard drives, and ~500ish tickets, so I might divert the entire factory into a sink and go hunting for the last drives; just to finish off the final couple achievements.

Ended with ~40,000 energy, 25% of which was nuclear. An extra 10,000 wouldn't have hurt - I ended up having to remove some shards from my slooped particle accelerators, because the damn things were using something like 15,000 energy each.

Edit: Annotated final map, for anyone who's curious:

Yellow lines are my hypertube network, orange are pipelines, pink are belts, purple are trains.

I got drawn in when 1.0 was announced. I'm 203 hours in so far, and while I love the factory building aspect, I love the map even more. It's just such a huge, beautiful, diverse map. If the game was just exploring and taking pictures, that'd be 100% OK with me! I hope the map is developed even more as the game is updated; there's two spots in particular that I'd love to see developed further:
1. In the bottom left corner of the map, there's a parcel of land that is separate from the main continent and you have to access it by traversing over the infinite chasm that the ocean waterfalls into. I call this place "Eden" because it's perfectly peaceful, there's no creatures, no resource nodes, no edible plants, nothing. It's almost like everything has been banished from it. Though in reality it's probably just an unused territory that the devs never bothered to cut out of the game.
2. In the bottom right corner, there's a silhouette  of what looks like the state of Florida, and trying to venture into it you immediately hit one of those kill-walls that start damaging you rapidly to signify that you're approaching the edge of the map. But the area is eerie and beautiful, just a long, desolated series of waterfalls that pour into the abyss:

Other than that, I've been slowly making progress through the game. I'm playing single player (I can't imagine anyone else that'd no-life this game like I have) and I'm finally nearing the end as I slowly pump out the last material requirements for the space elevator.
