Let's build a world together
« on: March 08, 2019, 08:39:33 pm »

So, you like to do some worldbuilding, huh? Well, how about we do some community worldbuilding.

Just some ground rules, to keep things flowing:
1. Try to leave space for other people. Obviously if you have some amazing idea for a country of crazy nuns, go right ahead, but try to not write everything from the ground up on day 1.
2. Don't be that guy. Just, don't.
3. Absolutely no anime. Well, maybe just a little bit.

Okay, so to have a place to start:
In the beginning, there was nothing. And then, something awoke. And from the nothingness, it created...

Volcanoes rose from the waters.

And from those  volcanoes, 17 islands were formed.

Except the 17th was not a regular island, it was a floating island.

And from one of those islands, some creatures emerged out of thin air.

Those creatures, despite all being mighty, fast, intelligent, agile, and having differing control over the forces of nature, had nothing other than each other to feed off of, and over time, after much fighting, those that remained eventually starved, and from their bodies grew plants. Of these plants, one humongous one grew over time, but like all things, it eventually died, and from its decaying form, much weaker and mostly mundane creatures came, most unintelligent. Rumors and legends say that some of the most powerful of the original creatures survived, consuming enough of the other creatures that were around them to allow them to hibernate deep underground, or other places hidden from view, one day to return as a blight upon the world, and to create more of their terrible kind, existing no longer off of purely their fellow's flesh but the fear of mortals...

There were also hallucinogenic mushrooms on the islands.

The first volcano grew jealous of the others, and strove to prove its superiority by stretching higher and higher, until it reached above the sky and found an endless expanse of something like water but not.

A comet streaking through outer space managed to survive descent to the world, and impacted with a resounding splash in the oceans, causing heavy tidal waves. Single-celled lifeforms known as algae, hitchhikers on said comet, then dispersed into the water, and, with no natural predators and an absurd abundance of resources, spread like an underwater wildfire. Some parts of the oceans are now turning a sickly shade of green.

The flakes of biomass from algae give birth to Coral, which proceeds to absorb the algae to grow larger.

From algae, comes plankton, small amounts of carnivorous and herbivorous life living in a primoridial soup too small for the normal eye to see.  They consume larger life in swarms, and are deadly to the touch.

A wandering god soon stumbles upon the new world and sees what the world is. Thinking it was early enough for him to claim this young world, the God of Smiths Bonchunkukar decided to begin forging his own creation, starting with various animals and beings.

Bonchunkukar then created giants made of rock and stone. And yet, he was not quite satisfied.
