Wealth, fame, power... Gold Roger, the King of the Pirates obtained this and everything else the world had to offer. And his dying words drove countless souls to seas.
"You want my treasure? You can have it! I left everything I gathered together in one place! Now you just have to find it!"
These words lured men to the Grand Line in pursuit of dreams greater than they've ever dared to imagine! This is the time known as 'The Great Pirate Era'!
**Insert Upbeat Anime Opening here**
Well, I'd like to say more, but we don't have the characters yet! That part is left up to you! One Piece! The almost 900 episode anime that has graced my Sundays for the last god-knows-how long, and will continue to do so until one of us dies! Conveniently, this serves as a great reminder to update my game at least once a week.
Something I sorely lack when I make homebrew settings! For those of you who don't know (why are you thinking about playing if you don't know the setting :V?), One Piece is a pirate-themed shonen anime about a stretchy pirate who shouts gun types and punches things. I appreciate the gun part, the punching part is also cool I guess. Over the course of its 22 year long run, it has created a rather extensive and quirky setting. There is plenty of room in this world for more than one story, so we are kicking the rubber guy out of the spotlight and putting your likely-to-be-less rubbery guys in instead! Theoretical starting point is West Blue, with me and you inventing our own characters and Island rather than reusing those from the show.
Mechanic wise, I'm stealing the system from Feng Shui II. The first rule is "Be Cool", it is a cinematic system for a cinematic story. "I punch him!" is boring, feel free to lovingly describe how you punch him, how he crashes into the nearby scenery leaving a crater, demolishing a building that wasn't detailed before, and sends the background characters running away shouting about how you're going to destroy the city. The actual mechanical rules are also pretty simple. Basically, you have an attack stat. You have a defense stat. You roll a "Swerve", 1d6-1d6 exploding. If your attack stat is higher than your enemie's defense stat, you hit! The difference is how well you hit. If you hit a mook or multiple mooks, they're out. Either dead or KOed depending on how you roll. If it is a "named character", then you add your weapon damage to the difference between your attack + roll and their defense to get the damage. You then subtract the target's Toughness to see how hard they got hit. You tend to be able to take a lot of punishment, so long as you arn't a mook!
Final two stats are Speed, which determines how often you can hit things, and Fortune which powers your special moves and can be spent to give an extra + die to your attack. Speaking of Special Moves, you are expected to rename yours and shout them when they are being activated. Even if you have something in your mouth that should logically prevent you from shouting. These are the basic rules, there are some simple things that I'll explain later (like "Dodging", spending 1 shot to increase your defenses against a single attack), it really is easy to pick up (and the Discord will help!)
Character creation is simplified. Basically you give all the character descriptions and see what archetype you are closest to. Since we are diverting greatly from the established setting, you have blanket permission to change things fairly drastically. For example, if you want your character to be a Swordsman, you can pick the "Swordmaster" archetype then rename "Rippling Death" to "Hurricane Slash!". Or you could pick the "Killer" archtype and switch out the gun abilities for sword abilities. Or you could throw a bunch of things together and hope I accept it. A list of Archtypes will be in the discord, we can discuss it over PMs if you don't want to use that.
All devil-fruit powers will be allowed, including ones already seen in series. Generally as a balancing act, the more powerful your starting power is the less control you will have over it. Want the power to make earthquakes? Sure! Make earthquakes all day! Just know that shaking the island is also going to hurt you and your allies too! These can either be represented by taking a Magic class and flavoring your skills appropriately (for someone who uses the abilities near-exclusively) or by switching out one of your abilities for an appropriate one for your powers. For example, if that Swordsman above wanted to also be a Zoan fruit user, he can switch out "Hurricane Slash!" for "Transform I", letting him switch into beast/half beast form. He could later take some appropriate "creature" abilities, in addition to the swordsman tree. Meanwhile the Earthquake guy could pick a "Sorcerer", then paint his "blast" as him slamming into the ground causing directed fissures or earthquakes while replacing all his abilities for more appropriate ground-based ones (For example, choosing "Ice Blast" but calling it "Faultline!", and describing it as making a large fissure the enemy has to crawl out of).

~Character List~
Name: Elice
Description: Long Blue-white hair and Sky-blue eyes. Looks to be aged 12, but is 16.
Backstory: Orean Island used to be a place that produced delicious fruits of many varieties in the West Blue.. One Day, Elice ended falling into some sort of ancient buried city through a crack that opened up during an earthquake. She found some sort of fruit growing on a tree, and being hungry after trying to find a way out, ate it. This was the Mana-Mana Fruit, a Paramecia Type.
The Mana-Mana Fruit turns the User into a Mana Form, and allows the manipulation of the energy in everything, it's Mana. effectively seems to make her a Logia-Type, but as her body already had it's Mana inside it, it was unlocked, setting her current form as her base. As it is Mana Manipulation, she can affect the Mana of what she is touching, mostly Air, Water, and/or Earth, changing it's shape. The only thing that makes this not a Logia Fruit is the inability to Create Mana. Sure, she generates it, but all living beings do.
Mana is a type of Truth to the world, and she can tell what writings and hieroglyphs left behind by others say based upon the intent of certain objects. Using her new power, she managed to get out, and naively told others about what she saw and read. This led to the local marine branch reporting it, and a Buster Call destroying the Island, along with the Polyglyphs she had unknowing read. The Island sunk into the sea, and her along with it.
Being a Paramecia Type, this didn't actually end up killing her. Sure, the ocean removed her own power, but the Ocean had it's fair share of Mana too. Not needing much of anything other than that helped, though being trapped on the ocean floor wasn't the best. She managed to survive, and found the ancient city again to act as her base. Over a couple of years, she grew up a lot mentally, reading the Polyglyphs, and understanding them. Architectural knowledge, a snippet of a war from the Void Era, medicinal texts on the human body. Even the fact that the Ocean covering everything was not how it always was. Eventually, she firmed her own resolve to find out the truth that the World Government apparently wanted to keep hidden, and set out. Though given everything, that actually took a while to manage, being underwater with no idea where to go.
Heal: Draw upon Mana to shape the body, restoring Health and Stamina, knitting wounds and purging poisons. Given enough time, you can even regrow organs. (Stated as Heal Wounds. 4 Shots 1 Fortune, heals ATTACK ROLL wounds)
Disrupt Effect: Grasp a hold of something effecting something else, and disrupt it. Sounds a bit round-about, but this mostly means effects caused by something else, like Zoan-type transformations, Logia-Type Transformations, and Sea-Stone/Ocean/Area changes done by another Devil-Fruit User or machines. (4 shots, 2 Fortune, Disrupts Effects)
Draw Upon, |Name|: Grasp the Truth, an object's Mana, and use it. Be it a Hammerblow of compressed wind, or making a hole to engulf your foes. (Effect Blast. 3 shot damage 9)
Impart |Effect|: Use an effect you have seen before, and change the Mana of something else. Like adding Earth to a piece of wood to petrify it, or making Clouds or Mist by mixing multiple elements/things together. (Boost in combat. 3 shots, +1 attack OR +3 defense. 1 Fortune, 3 Shots, +2 attack OR +5 defense. 1 Fortune when used for story purposes. 1 fortune +3 OR +1d6 when used to boost outside combat actions).
Farming Knowledge Rank E: Knows the basics of overseeing orchards, and growing food. (Farming 9. )
Ancient Knowledge Reading Rank S: Can Read and Understand all forms of written knowledge. Is unable to properly translate for others beyond basic idea translation. Encoded Messages can be read as well. Granted by the Mana-Mana Fruit, and quite a bit of practice. (Info:History 15)
Architectural Archaeology of the Void Era Rank C: Knowledge of Architectural Techniques from the Void Era. Also includes quite a bit of basic math and trigonometry. Can recognize Void Era Constructions near her own knowledge base. (Info: Void History 10)
Knowledge of the Human Body Rank A: Great Knowledge on how things in the human body work, and how it does. Allows basic-to-intermediate medicine use and creation, and allows for near complete Heal of the human body, and some experience with non-human body types. Boosted by the Mana-Mana Fruit's Truth/Mana connection. (Medine 13)
Ocean Devil Navigation Rank D: Through Quite a lot of effort, knows how to get to the surface from underwater. Doesn't actually help much, but she's also built up some basic navigation skills along the lines of This way to Land. Ocean still doesn't like her at all though, so not that useful. Grants Basic Ocean Navigation by Proxy. Basic Ocean Navigation Granted by Mana-Mana Fruit via reading air flows (Navigator 9)
Devilfruit(Attack): 14

Name: Buddy Ray Sheen
Description: A man looking to be in his 30s, with an average build, and a narrow head. He has short but thick shiny black colored hair and an Achor Beard and sideburns. He has yellow colored eyes that strangely have pupils that looks like a "฿" symbol. He also has one gold tooth.
Backstory: Buddy Ray Sheen was the son of a wealthy merchant who had intended for him to take over his corporation. The job wasn't a particularly great fit for Buddy, but he didn't have any other plans for his life so he studied in business relatively diligently.
One aspect of this training was to work at various places of commerce. One day while Buddy was managing a small store when a rather ornery customer accused him of selling unsafe food and in order to prove this customer wrong, Buddy Ray Sheen decided to show him that he was wrong by eating said item. But as it turned out, this object that he ate turned out to be a Devil Fruit. Paramecia type - The Bling Bling Fruit!
Witnessing this caused the customer to turn rather ornery and Buddy moved his hands to defend himself; however at this point in time he did not have control over Bling Bling's power. The aggressor's body was turned into paper money on that busy street corridor in front of many horrified onlookers. Finding himself accused of murder, he decided against taking responsibility and decided to flee.
Abilities:
Bling Bling Conversion: This ability allows the user to turn objects into their equivalent value in legal tender. This has no effect on objects without monetary value. Creepily enough, it also works on people based on what their value would be as a slave. The more valuable something is the longer it takes to convert it. Requires physical contact to function. (As Fleshmelter in combat. 3 Shot, damage 9. Spend 1 Money on successful Hit to give 1 (FF)/2 (Boss) impairment to target. Outside combat cost 1+ Money depending on conversion time.)
Bling Bling Purchasing: This ability allows the user to "Purchase" items instantaneously no matter where they are by sacrificing an amount of money equivalent to its value. It cannot be used to directly buy back things that were previously converted, but it can generally purchase similar things at a similar price. Purchases are instantaneous regardless of value, but the money must be on hand for this to work. The concrete rule of this power is that you always get what you pay for. (Free for most things. 1 Money for major things.)
Bling Bling Now Hiring: This ability allows the user to throw some money into the air, which will be replaced by a mook. Mooks summoned this way will typically stick around for 8 hours. Additional money can be used to make them proficient in a skill and excessive money can summon a named mook. Additional money will be used for mid-combat summoning to supply mooks with a cutlass and flintlock pistol by default. The weapon value is refunded upon un-summoning (less depreciation). (1 Money, 3 shots, 1d6 OR 3 mooks. 3 Money, 3 shots, 1 FF. Subject to change if Stirk can't balance).
Combat - Martial Arts: This character can punch, dodge etc.

Backstory: Okamo was from a small island rich in resources... And dangerously near the Grand Line, so it was always being raided by some pirate crew or another. One day, on his 18th birthday, the raiders of the day took it a step further and began to burn the village. So in a bid for power, Okamo snuck onto their ship, hearing they had a Devil Fruit on board, and consumed the Howl Howl Fruit. The resulting transformation gave him plenty of strength to tear apart the pirates... And the survivors of his village. In the aftermath of his rampage, he tried to swim away from the island, to deny what he had done, but found he sunk like a rock. So he took the pirate's ship, and sailed off with a death wish in his bloody hands.

Name: Sarah Murgatroyd
Description: A young adult woman who appears to be in her 20's with an athletic build. She has somewhat unkempt but soft and long bright lavender hair that almost reaches her knees and she has a narrow face with close-set eyes that one can tell with a glance that she has complete heterochromia as well, with one eye amber and another crimson. It also should be noted that her teeth look a bit sharper than normal...
Backstory: Sarah was born in a mansion owned by a wealthy, if somewhat shady, merchant. But she wasn't the daughter of the owners of the house, instead she was the child of a servant. Naturally, this meant from a young age she was taught how to keep things clean and tidy and she usually was told to basically run from one side of the manor to the other to get things for her mother. Over time, as she got older, she was ordered to carry heavier things and eventually basically became the one bring things in the manor where they were needed, though she didn't like being what was in her mind a pack mule and was quite bored with her little job she was basically born into.
Eventually, in her late teens, she was given very important cargo to put into the basement of the manor, and seeing an opportunity to potentially have something important that could allow her to have more than just the clothes on her back if she ran, when in the basement, she opened it only to see some kind of fruit. Disappointed, she thought nothing of it and simply took it with her as she quietly and quickly left the basement the way she came in. Apparently, the person who actually sold the thing was the same to transport it to the manor, and they seemed to be able to tell she had what he just sold.
They offered her quite a bit of money for the odd looking fruit, and she accepted the deal that was offered, even if she was a bit suspicious. He stated that he needed to get the money, and he'd be right back. While she didn't trust him, she was pleasantly surprised to see him with the payment in hand, only to find her distrust proven as with reason when the man shouted that he 'found the theif' and the owner of the manor she once lived in came charging at her. She tried running, but the man was just as fast as she was...and when she looked behind her to see where he was, she tripped. Knowing at this point she was going to get caught, she consumed the fruit in an act of defiance...
Needless to say, the man was absolutely furious to say the least, and oddly...she felt tired... When she awoke she found herself somewhat changed, not only did she still feel quite exhausted and tired, but her hair had seemed to change color and feel...very soft and comfortable, which needless to say didn't help her in trying to stay awake... She would have attempted to make many escape attempts, all resulting in failure due to her own tiredness until eventually, due to hunger and thirst, she ended up eating a few scraps stored in the basement of the manor that was now her prison, and more importantly, drank some bottles of wine, which made her feel quite the opposite of tired after she had finished drinking them.
After having finally escaped with the bit of knowledge that drinking wine made her stay awake, she made her way as far away from the manor as she could, and over the years of barely scraping by, found out it wasn't just wine but any alcohol that would make her quite energized, and the more she had the less tired and more energy she seemed to have...Though, while she could drink more than most, she'd still get drunk if she drank too much... Despite the positive effects of being practically tireless if enough alcohol is drunk, and obviously an excuse to drink more alcohol, she finds it as more of a curse than a benefit due to the whole tiredness she has to suffer... She tends to be a bit grouchy when not drunk, yet not completely out of alcohol in her blood and about to pass out, yet friendly when drunk...She is however uncaring and to an extent acquiescing when about to pass out though...

Billy T Tooth
Age: 21
Appearance: Tan tattooed American Indian look, built strong and broad, with piercing green eyes.
Occupation: Pirate, gunner, who is a gun smith (designing them) and extent title here.
Fruit: Tyrant Wing Fruit (*Doesn't follow naming convention, havn't seen him since he sent the first sheet. Trying to get him to change it
)
Story: Just a down on luck sap who built guns. The marines cheated him out in a payment so decided to rob bank their debit with interest.
Aside having twin twelve shot revolvers he designed he has stepped to his back a rifle, a rifle bigger than he is tall (5’11)
His fruit turns him into a odd tvrex like mofo with feathered wings allowing him to fly. Aside strength boost and flight is big enough to use his experimental bigger guns with ease and the rifle is more of a hand cannon. At that size anyway. ( as a mix of beast and man, has humanoid hands.)
His big dream is the destruction of the marines, even letting go of the idea of treasure.
