98% of all aliens can see in the dark, and there's no way we're sneaking up on them after shooting them down.

There is no way to know how well aliens see in the dark, but if they do use light to see, they probably already invented night vision goggles of some sort. Don't we also have those, this being the 90s and all?
(I kinda remember them being in Operation Flashpoint, and that happens in 1985)

I don't see why we wouldn't have them, as the Germans had them in the 40's.

Wishing you had some of the fancy Night Vision goggles rather than just scopes, you order the squad to use their torches to light the way.

The trees arround you are rapidly illuminated, as gun and helmet mounted torches are clicked on. The stark contrast between the lit areas and the shadows from trees and foliage keep you on edge, but at least you can see more around you. Even of you're constantly jumping at nothing.

Suddenly an explosion erupts amongst your squad, launching you several metres through the air.

You hit the ground hard, but the foliage and dirt softens the impact. Your whole body aches, and your ears are ringing,  but you otherwise seem okay.

You quickly roll into a nearby bush, and look around. The middle of your squad has been replaced with a smoking crater, and a few of the surviving trees are on fire. Someone threw a flare up ahead, and at the edge of its reach you can see a dull metal shape.

A few of the soldiers nearby are returning fire, although you're not sure what exactly they're shooting at. You don't know how many casualties you've sustained, the location of your other soldiers nor your enemy.

A) Put bullets in some of the suspicious looking shadows up ahead whilst your hearing returns
B) Start flanking to the right
C) This is way more than i anticipated. Retreat!
D) Fear not the alien! Advance!

B? Try to find a flank, though given situation nothing is good, and cannot risk bullets, especially as you maybe hitting your own Tripp’s, or local wild life.

Also, don't forget to contact your local Eldritch Being(s), so that they can help with our mission to destroy the universe.

Do we have radio contact with the rest of the squad? If so, can we confirm casualties?
