Yes at one point the shining Gundam data was transferred to the burning Gundam due to badly damaged from Master Gundam and abandoned for the new Burning Gundam. So its 2 Gundam into one Gundam essentially.

So the reason transformers not a mecha is because their ascension beings. They don't need a pilot to move, speak, think and feel.

Mecha require something that is operable by machines, ai, or a lifeform.
