Steiner's Kinetic Shield (Enchantment)
Barrier is okay at a pinch for keeping a mage alive, but it's a brute force approach. Mage Steiner felt a more efficient approach was needed.

The Kinetic Shield consists of a small buckler to be strapped to the user's forearm, with an inbuilt flywheel. When activated, the buckler projects a "shield" (in much the same way barrier does) around the buckler. Any object that attempts to pass through the area within the shield has its kinetic energy "stolen" and transferred to the flywheel. Thus, a burst of small arms fire will end up with a handful of bullets suspended in front of the user and a slowly spinning flywheel. A simple grip brake (like on a bicycle) allows the user to slow down and stop the flywheel.

More powerful attacks such as high calibre rounds or explosives will naturally carry more kinetic energy and speed up the flywheel more, so user discretion is advised to avoid the flywheel spinning too fast and violently disassembling.

Idea! Steiner's Kinetic Armament

This wheel serves a dual purpose, also being enchanted to lend any kinetic energy to telekinesis being cast. This naturally slows the wheel as the rotation is converted back into force.

Design Proposal: Vulpes' Withering Blast

It gets cold for a lonely mage at night, so we've developed many ways to remedy that. One is the creation of heat. By using a small bit of mana as a catalyst our mages can heat a pocket of air in their hands. While any mage worth his salt knows to keep the temperature radiating from their palm at a bearable level, further analysis by our Mageineers has discovered that it is possible to heat a "bubble" (contained by a very simple use of mana not much different from Barrier) of air to insanely hot temperatures, and thanks to our experiences with Palm of Light, we've begun the practice of projecting the heat away from our palms. The heatball can be harmlessly diffused in-palm or "thrown" where it will either burst on contact or burst when the envelope containing the heatball fails.

The heat suddenly released from the ball should be enough to cause up to second and third degree burning and ignite more flammable materials.
