Soulless: Your stereotypical zombie, albiet in better physical shape than the average. Caused by demons feeding off/extracting a mortal's soul energy, Soulless shamble about, unfettered by physical damage, seeking to replace that missing something inside. They make good, cheap, meatshields, and can be frightening in numbers, but in all they're weak, only about 1/2 the human they used to be. (Cost: 1/2 Unit)

Zakthun ("Reavers"): Razorblade like claws for arms, beady red eyes covering their beak/head, and creepy insect-looking legs with three triangle-set toes? Just your normal Zakthun, with a wit to match those bladed claws of it's. Uncommon down below due to their spiritual weakness, they cluster up above for glory, freedom... And fresh meat. Unlike the Greater Demons, Zakthun feast on FLESH, bloody or rotten, doesn't matter. They do have a spectacular sense of taste, though - Oftentimes, down below, Zakthun are employed as chefs for high-ranking Greaters, for when they're in the mood for something bloody and satisfying, rather than sustaining. (Cost: 1 Unit)

Rok-Thame ("Sky-Bound"): Rok-Thame are toned warriors of the sky, with only one weakness - They are cursed to never touch the ground. They commonly rain Soulfire Arrows down from the skies upon their opposition, never getting close to their foes because even the slightest brush against the ground causes them to wither into ash and blow away. They have no problems with the ground down below, but even down there their body stops at the waist - No legs for these upper-body-builders! (Cost: 3 Units because they're so difficult to transport up above.)

Soulfire: A strange sticky, blue substance that burns brighter than most mortal flames, without the heat. Extracted from mortals, Soulfire still can kill - To be burned by it is to have your very essence burned away, leaving you Soulless. It also comes in a non-flammable, condensed form, which can be ingested to great effect by mortals and to a far lesser effect on demonkin, since they feed on soul energy to sustain themselves, anyways.

And, uh, no feeding souls to Soulless.

Ravagers, 1RP: Lightly armored and armed with nothing but their natural claws, the Ravagers are, arguably, the cannon fodder of the army, and the ones who are a nightmare for other lightly armored infantry should they get close enough. Needless to say, cheep and effective when it comes up to softening the enemy up

Impalers, 2RP: As the name implies, the Impalers use pikes, and unlike Ravagers, are armored with more than gambeson, having a bit of steel protecting their chest and a helm on top of said gambeson. Their arms and legs however, are not protected, although if something other than a ranged enemy manages to break through the wall of pikes, clearly something has gone wrong somewhere...

Arbalests, 2RP: Armored similarly to Impalers, but armed with a much different weapon, the Arbalests utilize a heavy crossbow designed specifically for ruining the day of any infantry that gets hit by their volley of bolts, no mater their armor. Additionally, a bit of magic is used so the bolts makes whoever they hit have an even worse day by being on fire once fired.

Raiders, 2RP: Armored with a steel helm and chain mail, the Raiders are armored in more flexable armor that still protects them well, yet no where near as much as a Baron. They are the light footman to the Barons heavy elite, and they are armed with a sword or axe and a shield. Obviously, they are trained to have good endurance and speed

Barons, 5RP: Barons are, as one might expect of the name, strong warriors. Specifically they are armored head to toe in plate with chain mail and gambeson underneath the main armor. Additionally, they are armed depending on their preference, having either a pike, long sword, or sword and shield as their main weapon, but all keep a mace as a backup.

Heroes:
Ryreva Kritikou: Originally, Ryreva was one who was considered odd by the simple fact that they had very few overt and easy to see demonic features relating to their heritage with the exception of their height matching that of the descendants of some large demons and their eyes having black sclera and red iris. Other than this, most people just ignored them after a bit of an odd glance, while rivals would claim they had little blood of their ancestors in them. Their life would have been uneventful if it weren't for the fact that they were drawn to a particular blade, one that was under guard. This blade was one that was in the hands of a particular baron and was called Mávithanátoslepdas. For those who tried to pick up the blade, it would always leave a horrible burn on their hands and result in them dropping it. However, Ryreva didn't suffer any burns and instead was able to use the thing with ease. Needless to say, the baron in question and his guards aren't alive anymore, and she has taken their place and respect.

There is an odd smelling and volatile substance known as Sulfur underground. It could prove useful.

Mávithanátoslepdas is a blade, a very special and long blade, twice the size of a normal human. Its pitch black with red rune like writing on both sides of the center of the blade that ends before it reaches the tip while its handle and guard is a seeming contrast as a rose gold. It feels smooth to the touch and depending on who touches it, either cold or burning hot. It also works well at channeling magic through it, allowing the user to do such things as having it coat itself in fire as a classic example. Its a relic from when Demons walked on the lands that would become Daíona, said to be from the most powerful demon that was summoned there long ago.

Projects:

Nessoria Castle is a large fortification that guards the crossing of the nearby river, using it additionally as a moat. The construction is specifically designed to make sure any armies that come across the river have to deal with the fortress before they can continue forward and deeper into the territory, and is designed to make an assault on it as miserable as possible, having different layers of the castle sectioned off and also having a few gardens inside to make it so food during sieges lasts. Naturally, the construction will be made out of stone and there is a courtyard for training.

Aeryx Castle is a castle that overlooks the ocean and makes any invasion coming from it sighted before it can get to anywhere important while also preventing any army from simply continuing on the road its situated on and forcing them to go through much denser terrain in the nearby forest if they chose not to go through it. Naturally, its inside is sectioned off into different layers, has a garden for food inside, and a courtyard for training like the other castle as well.

The Barons while heavily armed and armored seem to have grown fat and weak. At least, that's what the Marshall Ryreva thinks, and a rigorous set of training for melee skill, strength, endurance, situational awareness, and battle field tactics to make them truly the warriors that Steelhold's soldiers will fear and fall to.

Other:
Daíona is a kingdom of half demons that was the result of a large tribe of demon worshipers being successful in their rituals and managing to summon demons, many many demons in fact. Naturally, they willingly followed their 'gods' orders, and were 'blessed' with children that were greater than they were. Over time, the demons that were summoned were banished or otherwise forced to return to the underworld, but the half demons that now ruled over the lands still lived and were still there. It should be mentioned that, despite what one might expect, they don't value every sin, as sloth is something they really really dislike for the simple fact that it is very counterproductive to anything. All other sins are valued however, though technically speaking, that doesn't mean they are all 'evil' unless you have high standards for what you consider to be neutral.

Log: So something odd happened over at the Woodrock estate, something about crazed cartographers. Regardless something over there has recently occurred and it is imperative that we find out what happened. We also have received worrying reports that the 'relatives' have managed to get past the 'guards' which is...worrisome. While they are our 'relatives' they likely will treat us akin to imps, or at least remove people like me or really anyone with a bit of power from power. And I don't doubt that most of the general population and even nobility will welcome them with open arms...Hopefully our Marshall isn't one of those people but I have a bad feeling she is...Still some people have been sent out in an organized response to find out what happened and if the Woodrock Estate is still has a proper operating government. Of course this is taking time away from training and the Marshall isn't too happy about that but they considered it important enough for a slight delay...But I fear we have more things to worry about then delays and cartographers.

- Waldkind Footman: Armed with an axe and clad in light armor, these children of the forest use magically enhanced speed to outmaneuver enemies. Capable of outrunning any man on foot. Though they are vulnerable to all forms of damage. They're more intended to soften and harass the enemy than get kills. Specifically, break any shield they may hold.
- Waldkind Swordsman: Armed with a sword and unarmored, these children of the forest utilize stealth to get the drop on their enemies. They prefer to attack enemy ranged forces, who are vulnerable yet valuable.
- Waldkind Slinger: Armed with a sling and a pouch of hand picked stones, these children of the forest are elite warriors, having tested their stones a hundred times each. Their long experience affords them an accuracy unheard of from slings. Further augmented by magic, so not even vision slits are secure.
- Waldkind Guardian: Inside these bodies of wood and stone, are children of the forest, only the most revered are permitted this honor. This body is very durable, able to sustain barrages of arrows, flurries of stabs, and stands tall in the strongest of winds. The offensive capabilities are nothing to balk at either, as they can easily pummel a bear to death. However, the Guardian Body makes even a dwarf look agile in comparison. They are not suited for any offensive operation other than breaching defenses.

- Venerable Guardian Brunhilda Stern: One of the venerable elders of the Waldkind, with hair as black as night, glowing eyes, and who adorns the most venerated Guardian Body. But her greatest possession is the sword Gram, which she wields with the Guardian Body. She is also the only Waldkind that can make the Guardian Body move at speed.

- Guardian Body: Powerful if slow constructs of wood and stone. They are products of intensive study, the pride and joy of the Waldkind. Each one is sacred, adorned in religious idols and they all have a unique name.
- Dragonslayer Gram: A sword with a rune covered blade, and a hilt decorated in gold. It is a sword capable of cleaving through iron with ease. Not even the most venerable elder knows where it came from. But there is one, The Mad Elder, who claims it was granted to them by a one eyed traveler.
- Schwartzwald Bow: A bow of exquisite quality, it's got a lot of power for it's size. But the biggest quality, is that they are all enchanted. Every release of the string amplifies the force of the shot, and the accompanying arrows have a penetration enchantment, allowing it to penetrate armor it otherwise would've bounced off.

Other:

The residents of the Schwarzwald Reich aren't human, they are dark skinned elves that never become adults. They are called the Waldkind, and though they retain their childishness, they are also very wise, thanks to their endless age. They possess exceptional natural healing, which may be part of why they never age beyond a certain point.
However, this comes at the cost of physical strength. And though they easily augment speed with magic. For strength, they need bulky constructs. They also lack the discipline for spear use, preferring to harass the enemy and pelt them with rocks. They also master the arts of old, and see little need for newer arts. Though the world goes on, and they will inevitably have to catch up, or find someone who can do it for them.

Log: It would seem the knife eared menfolk lost their leaders. Did someone assassinate them? There were some rather sneaky characters around there. Maybe they wanted to secure power for themselves. But in their shortsighted plan didn't think of how they would secure said power. And now, with all the leaders gone, they just fought among themselves.
Many would move to secure Anschluss, but we have the most claim on them. So we will commit our forces to securing this territory.

This is Guardian Brunhilda Stern. It is time to protect our friends' territory, and for that, we are sending troops.

I have been sent troops in order to accomplish my task.
- Waldkind Footmen: 2 000
- Waldkind Swordsmen: 800
- Waldkind Slingers: 200
- Venerable Guardian Brunhilda Stern
Total Force: 3 000 Troops + Champion.

While Guardians would be benefitial, but only I am able to move with any degree of speed, and time is of the essence. In fact, I'm hurrying best I can, while the Slingers and Swordsmen all get carried by 2 Footmen each, to benefit from their speed. Time is of the essence, if we wish to secure this territory.

I have a clear objective in mind.
Secure the land of Woodrock Estate, and deny any anschluss that isn't of the Schwartzwald Reich.
While they are menfolk, they are fellow knife ears, so we have a better claim on their territory. We also out age them, therefore we know better, with wisdom they can only hope for.

We mustn't be foolish, we have plans for retreat, if the following occurs.
If we lose 2 400 troops, we must make our retreat. Our fighters are dedicated, but there are limits.
If Brunhilda Stern falls, we will retreat if we lose 1 200 troops. For without me, the morale of the men will be weakened.
If a force greater than 2 000 attacks the lands of the Schwartzwald Reich. As with so many sent to secure territory, we shouldn't let ourselves be conquered.

I have setup a strategy, in case they wish to commit forces of their own.
First, we will make our way to the Southeastern portion, and secure it. This will let us more easily sally forth and harass troops sent from the south or east. We will use our Footmen to give us the highest of speeds, and I, Brunhilda Stern, will put all of my effort to try and keep up, and use any free Footmen to help me keep up. If the walls are an obstacle, then I will use my body to break a hole, so our troops can enter.

When such a foothold is secured, we must then move our Footmen to the Southwestern portion, and any wall along the way. Thus cutting off approach from the south. The demon worshippers are strong, but fret not, if we seize the high ground, we have the upper hand, even if our Footmen haven't yet been trained in the use of the bow, they're only half done. Hopefully we'll be able to finish it later, so we can properly secure this territory.

Once we have cut off any approach from the south, we will send Swordmen to ambush any attempt from the east, before moving Footmen to secure the Northeastern portion, and any wall along the way. Which will cut off anyone who seeks to secure this land.
After that, we just need to send troops everywhere else, to secure all of the territory, so the Anschluss may begin.

This is a statement from the Venerable Reich of Schwartzwald.

We are going to anschluss Woodrock Estate. These elves are the closest to us of the menfolk, so surely we will know best how to rule this territory.
The Cookie Kingdom has no manfolk subjects, and as such, would be unfit to rule.
The Kingdom of Steelhold are aggressive and have plans for Daíona, and would be too busy sending the people into the iron mines or their armies, rather than letting them be free.
The Kingdom of Daíona are going to be busy defending against Steelhold, and would only get themselves conquered while trying to anschluss.

Thus, we, the wise and benevolent Waldkind will be the best. For we are knife ears, and we have memory of their leaders long passed, and as such, knows these people better than even themselves. And if you feel like opposing our rule. Know that we have dedicated a large amount of troops to securing our anschluss. And each and every one of them have more combat expereinced than even your greatest hero.

I must admit that we are quite annoyed at your lack of faith in our ability to properly defend ourselves from Steelhold and your recent proclamation to take the lands of the Woodrock estate with a large force clearly gives us negative connotations on what happened as we sent some people to figure out what happened before your letter arrived and the Marshall claims to have sent a request for a defensive pact to the Woodrock estate yesterday. From the limited information avalible at this time, it is not exactly too far of a stretch for us to believe that you have invaded them in force and overthrown their government in a form of aggressive expansion with absolutely no casus belli. I request you inform us if you have done anything to the scouting force we sent when we heard of what had happened to the people of the Woodrock estate after hearing rumors of something having happened, which I think can now safely be argued as an invasion by your own forces. We also must argue your claim, as your lands being unconnected and distant to the Woodrock estate will make governing more difficult and news going to and from your capitol much more infrequent, causing less cohesion, unity, stability and ease of communication along with the simple fact I can see the fairly obvious issue of unrest which likely wouldn't be a issue for us seeing how we have been on good terms with the people of the Woodrock estate and didn't invade them like you did.

We finally got moved out of the Footman's broom closet and into a proper building this time. Also, our staff has increased. With this it will only take a few more years to sort through our backlog. We got a report saying Steelhold has plate armor on their common soldiers. Now that is quite troublesome. Good thing those bows are well on their way.

Anyway, seems we got a letter from the demon worshipers. Actually I should stop that. I found a report saying they actually managed to crossbreed. Now that is also troublesome. Are there no weak and vulnerable humans around? Are they all strong? Maybe our move was reckless. Let's try to get some allies in this. Or they might attack us.

I can assure you this is no conquest, it's an anschluss. Oh right, you don't have that word. It's the reuniting of fellow knife ears who have been separate for too long.
If this was a conquest, then there would be a battle with the elves. Yet no men were at the walls, and all the leaders have mysteriously perished. I can't imagine how, I don't recall any reports saying anything about assassins. Except perhaps Woodrock Estate itself. Though why would they kill their own leaders?
If they're willing to kill their own leaders. Then they need someone new to rule them.

But I do mean the thing about worrying of defense with the purest of intentions. For you see, we are defensive fighters. As such, we do not need all the weapons of an offensive force. We have plenty to trade, for services. Say, you don't attack us, and we provide assistance in defenses, and weapons for offense. Maybe we can even tailor some special equipment for you. After all, these high elves are much closer to your size than we Waldkind are. Are you familiar with strength enhancing suits of armor?
As for your scouts, I don't know what has happened. If they're dead, I am sorry. But we can't be too careful. Whoever killed their leaders may still be around. And there are those wishing to exploit this unfortunate event that befell these elves. But don't worry about the logistics. Our Footmen run very fast.

To the Schwarzwald External Affairs Department

I consider your claim that you are reuniting with the people of the Woodrock estate as questionable at best, as that would be like us reuniting with the kingdom of Steelhold despite always being separate nations. Regardless, it is true that it would be unwise to let the estate become a lawless ruin, however considering their location I still feel you are not exactly in the best position to rule over them. I also have to say that, defensive or not, any weapon can be used offensively, and some are just as effective at defense as it is at offense which considering what you have stated about your wisdom I'm sure you know as well as anyone else who inhabits these lands.

I will admit that I am not familiar with strength enhancing suits of armor, but I will say that if the scouts are dead, I and most others here will not be happy. Now, I'm going to make a presumption here and say you aren't going to leave the Woodrock estate without getting something out of it, and as such, considering the fact you seem to like to be on the defensive rather than offensive, I offer you a deal. We send you an amount of Sulfur, which can easily be used as a trap as the stuff can be set on fire with moderate ease, and in exchange for leaving the area and allowing us to figure out what happened and fix their lack of government. They will have their own leaders and be granted a good deal of autonomy if you allow us to deal with this ourselves, and I'm sure it will be much smother and better for both of us. If you have a counter offer, please do send it soon.

The fact we're in trouble hasn't even occurred with the other elders. It's going to be hard to negotiate them to have anything to offer.
This sulphur is of no use to us. We need this land, or we'll be weak. Why have the elders been so blind? Just two people here, and we would've known this ahead of time.

I've talked with our men, and they're saying they haven't killed anyone yet, just denying access. Maybe they're just captured, we can probably send them back soon. I just have to make it clear that we aren't going to let go of this land. And your sulphur holds no appeal to us.
Tell you what, Steelhold has land, we can help you capture that. It's going to be a piece of cake convincing the elders. Surely you'd prefer to hold the lands of Steelhold than the lands of Woodrock Estate. A two pronged attack, conquer them before they even know what's happened. No damage to the land.

In fact, make it an alliance. You wont even need to receive their attack in order to defeat them. We'd be able to succeed when striking first.

-Steelpikes, 1 RP: Armor is same as in the image. Primarily used to protect the flanks from cavalry charges or to advance in a spearwall towards the enemy to open a hole in their lines for light infantry to exploit.



-Iron Initiates, 1 RP: Sword and shield, leather armored infantry primarily used to flank or exploit holes in an enemy line in order to wreak havoc on rear-line soldiers, such as archers or high value targets like siege weaponry crews. When no such opportunities are foreseeable, they are generally tasked with defending the longbowmen from potential harm.



-Heartseekers, 1 RP: Longbowmen, armed with a shortsword as a backup weapon, wearing padded armor. Obviously not intended for melee and the priority to protect them is paramount.



-Forged Knights, 2 RP: The most trusted and skilled warriors of Steelhold are given the title of Forged Knight. They serve as cavalry when not assigned to command a specific regiment. They wear plate armor and wield longswords and kite shields when mounted or dismounted.



Bloodletters 2 RP: Elite Heartseekers are given extra training and equipped with composite bows, longswords, and camouflaged leather armor to become a Bloodletter. Intended to ambush and skirmish with enemies while not directly engaging, though can if forced into such a situation.



Steinerwerfer 4 RP: Approximately two men tall, four men long, and with a six man long arm, this catapult is reinforced with banding made of the new steel but is mostly made of wood. The projectiles are varied sized boulders of Steelhold stone. That is, the durable, dark grey kind (see Supplies.) Smaller boulders for more distance or larger ones for more damage. The crew is equipped with pavises and stakes for defense and armed with padded armor and shortswords. Obviously, they are not intended to be in melee. The catapult is horse drawn, but the crew can move it by themselves if need be, albeit obviously not as quickly.

-The stone underneath Steelhold contains lots of sizable deposits of ores and minerals.
-As well, the stone itself is considerably stronger than anywhere else in the world. While this makes for some difficulty in actually acquiring the minerals within, the stone itself is valuable for defensive structures.
-High Quality Steel: Steelhold's efforts to increase its supply of good steel has been finished and the quality of the final product really shows. This newly developed form of steel is sure to provide even stronger, more dangerous weapons for those who smith with it.

-Employ the clergy to enchant arrows (4 Turns): The clergy have been requisitioned to bless most arrows produced before and after they were given the task. All arrow production was temporarily put on hold so that they could catch up. They worked tirelessly to ensure every combat arrow carries with it at least a piece of godliness so that the unholy and nonbelievers will be injured/terrorized by the divine power of the arrow. There are still unblessed arrows used for training purposes, but combat arrows carry an extra kick to them.

After inner turmoil tore apart the expansive Kingdom of Ascalon, Count Kohl Greiner of Steelhold declares his realm's independence and announces himself King of Steelhold, thus turning the county into a now independent kingdom of its own. Having been the main source of men for the Ascalonian armies, the realm had always been a strong military power and this has carried over to its newfound state of sovereignty. The name Steelhold actually comes from the strong, dark gray stone used to construct defensive structures, rather than the mineral richness of the area.

While the differences between the people of Steelhold and the people of the Woodrock Estate are clear, they can at least be ensured a return to stability and peace. We did, after all, rapidly situate ourselves after the collapse of Ascalon and so we shall bring this skill to light when speaking with the remaining figureheads of the Woodrock Estate. As well, we willingly took in one of their folk training for a higher status in our nation. I'm sure they'd find this as good proof of our good intentions.

I fear that, in your mission ambitions, you're not seeing the dangers of what your actions may hold for the parties involved. I suggest that you allow us to help these people who have been thrust into turmoil and chaos after centuries of quiet and peace.

- Waldkind Footman: Armed with an axe and clad in light armor, these children of the forest use magically enhanced speed to outmaneuver enemies. Capable of outrunning any man on foot. Though they are vulnerable to all forms of damage. They're more intended to soften and harass the enemy than get kills. Specifically, break any shield they may hold.
They have been lightly trained in the use of bow and arrow. Allowing them to shoot upon the enemy before engaging in melee. And their arrows can pierce armor, so they're generally bad news.
- Waldkind Swordsman: Armed with a sword and unarmored, these children of the forest utilize stealth to get the drop on their enemies. They prefer to attack enemy ranged forces, who are vulnerable yet valuable.
- Waldkind Slinger: Armed with a sling and a pouch of hand picked stones, these children of the forest are elite warriors, having tested their stones a hundred times each. Their long experience affords them an accuracy unheard of from slings. Further augmented by magic, so not even vision slits are secure.
- Waldkind Guardian: Inside these bodies of wood and stone, are children of the forest, only the most revered are permitted this honor. This body is very durable, able to sustain barrages of arrows, flurries of stabs, and stands tall in the strongest of winds. The offensive capabilities are nothing to balk at either, as they can easily pummel a bear to death. However, the Guardian Body makes even a dwarf look agile in comparison. They are not suited for any offensive operation other than breaching defenses.

- Venerable Guardian Brunhilda Stern: One of the venerable elders of the Waldkind, with hair as black as night, glowing eyes, and who adorns the most venerated Guardian Body. But her greatest possession is the sword Gram, which she wields with the Guardian Body. She is also the only Waldkind that can make the Guardian Body move at speed.

- Schwartzwald Bow: A bow of exquisite quality, it's got a lot of power for it's size. But the biggest quality, is that they are all enchanted. Every release of the string amplifies the force of the shot, and the accompanying arrows have a penetration enchantment, allowing it to penetrate armor it otherwise would've bounced off.

The residents of the Schwarzwald Reich aren't human, they are dark skinned elves that never become adults. They are called the Waldkind, and though they retain their childishness, they are also very wise, thanks to their endless age. They possess exceptional natural healing, which may be part of why they never age beyond a certain point.
However, this comes at the cost of physical strength. And though they easily augment speed with magic. For strength, they need bulky constructs. They also lack the discipline for spear use, preferring to harass the enemy and pelt them with rocks. They also master the arts of old, and see little need for newer arts. Though the world goes on, and they will inevitably have to catch up, or find someone who can do it for them.

I can inform you that we do not have any plans to back down from us reuniting with our brethren. Their skin may be sickly pale and they may be menfolk. But we are still brethren. Now what can you offer? You who seek to vanquish the Daíoan people for their choice of partners. With our increased staff, we have uncovered many reports about them and you.
You say they are evil for allying with the demons, but had you known they are the demons, you would never plan to stop your subjugation.

Also, remember those bows you got to see? We have given out 3 000 of them to our Footmen. And our numbers are ever increasing. In fact, you better stay away, or you might just have an unfortunate incident with Werewolves. Not that we just so happen to know exactly where they live and what they have been up to for the last thousand years or anything. It's not as if we're the one thing keeping them at bay or anything.
In fact, we noticed movement recently. A sneaky maneuver, and one that we have noticed. And we are in need of someone to test our new bows on.

This is Guardian Brunhilda Stern. After the near maddening mundanity of peace, I finally get an order with intent most delightful. To spill the blood of the manfolk army that stepped inside our newly secured lands. A juicy morsel to be sure. We do not know where they went exactly, but that is no hindrance. Two thirds of our army are fast, and can scout.

Our mode of operation for this task.
First, we shall send out 10 units of 100 Footmen. They will scour the landscape and locate the enemy. They may fire a few volleys if in an advantageous position. But their main task is to return, and inform us. We will be putting the bulk of our forces in the Southeastern tower, and march out once we know the enemy's location.

Afterwards, we shall have our big confrontation.
Footmen shall harass and weaken the enemy. They will focus on the cavalry. As even with their armor, a thousand arrows are sure to do the job. Afterwards, they shall harry their forces.
We will have the Swordsmen sneak around and seek to ambush any ranged element of the army, before going back into hiding.
Then our slingers will be on the high ground, slinging stones upon their massed elements, sowing disarray and confusion among them.
As for me, well I will run in and cut them to ribbons with my sword, and a steady helping of magic. Any melee fighter that face me will fear my wrath.

They will be reminded of what happened to the armies of Ascalon. And how Steelhold is no different.

Ravagers, 1RP: Lightly armored and armed with nothing but their natural claws, the Ravagers are, arguably, the cannon fodder of the army, and the ones who are a nightmare for other lightly armored infantry should they get close enough. Needless to say, cheep and effective when it comes up to softening the enemy up

Impalers, 2RP: As the name implies, the Impalers use pikes, and unlike Ravagers, are armored with more than gambeson, having a bit of steel protecting their chest and a helm on top of said gambeson. Their arms and legs however, are not protected, although if something other than a ranged enemy manages to break through the wall of pikes, clearly something has gone wrong somewhere...

Arbalests, 2RP: Armored similarly to Impalers, but armed with a much different weapon, the Arbalests utilize a heavy crossbow designed specifically for ruining the day of any infantry that gets hit by their volley of bolts, no mater their armor. Additionally, a bit of magic is used so the bolts makes whoever they hit have an even worse day by being on fire once fired.

Raiders, 2RP: Armored with a steel helm and chain mail, the Raiders are armored in more flexable armor that still protects them well, yet no where near as much as a Baron. They are the light footman to the Barons heavy elite, and they are armed with a sword or axe and a shield. Obviously, they are trained to have good endurance and speed

Barons, 5RP: Barons are, as one might expect of the name, strong warriors. Specifically they are armored head to toe in plate with chain mail and gambeson underneath the main armor. Additionally, they are armed depending on their preference, having either a pike, long sword, or sword and shield as their main weapon, but all keep a mace as a backup.

Heroes:
Ryreva Kritikou: Originally, Ryreva was one who was considered odd by the simple fact that they had very few overt and easy to see demonic features relating to their heritage with the exception of their height matching that of the descendants of some large demons and their eyes having black sclera and red iris. Other than this, most people just ignored them after a bit of an odd glance, while rivals would claim they had little blood of their ancestors in them. Their life would have been uneventful if it weren't for the fact that they were drawn to a particular blade, one that was under guard. This blade was one that was in the hands of a particular baron and was called Mávithanátoslepdas. For those who tried to pick up the blade, it would always leave a horrible burn on their hands and result in them dropping it. However, Ryreva didn't suffer any burns and instead was able to use the thing with ease. Needless to say, the baron in question and his guards aren't alive anymore, and she has taken their place and respect.

There is an odd smelling and volatile substance known as Sulfur underground. It could prove useful.

Mávithanátoslepdas is a blade, a very special and long blade, twice the size of a normal human. Its pitch black with red rune like writing on both sides of the center of the blade that ends before it reaches the tip while its handle and guard is a seeming contrast as a rose gold. It feels smooth to the touch and depending on who touches it, either cold or burning hot. It also works well at channeling magic through it, allowing the user to do such things as having it coat itself in fire as a classic example. Its a relic from when Demons walked on the lands that would become Daíona, said to be from the most powerful demon that was summoned there long ago.

Projects:

Nessoria Castle is a large fortification that guards the crossing of the nearby river, using it additionally as a moat. The construction is specifically designed to make sure any armies that come across the river have to deal with the fortress before they can continue forward and deeper into the territory, and is designed to make an assault on it as miserable as possible, having different layers of the castle sectioned off and also having a few gardens inside to make it so food during sieges lasts. Naturally, the construction will be made out of stone and there is a courtyard for training.

Aeryx Castle is a castle that overlooks the ocean and makes any invasion coming from it sighted before it can get to anywhere important while also preventing any army from simply continuing on the road its situated on and forcing them to go through much denser terrain in the nearby forest if they chose not to go through it. Naturally, its inside is sectioned off into different layers, has a garden for food inside, and a courtyard for training like the other castle as well.

The Barons while heavily armed and armored seem to have grown fat and weak. At least, that's what the Marshall Ryreva thinks, and a rigorous set of training for melee skill, strength, endurance, situational awareness, and battle field tactics to make them truly the warriors that Steelhold's soldiers will fear and fall to.

Other:
Daíona is a kingdom of half demons that was the result of a large tribe of demon worshipers being successful in their rituals and managing to summon demons, many many demons in fact. Naturally, they willingly followed their 'gods' orders, and were 'blessed' with children that were greater than they were. Over time, the demons that were summoned were banished or otherwise forced to return to the underworld, but the half demons that now ruled over the lands still lived and were still there. It should be mentioned that, despite what one might expect, they don't value every sin, as sloth is something they really really dislike for the simple fact that it is very counterproductive to anything. All other sins are valued however, though technically speaking, that doesn't mean they are all 'evil' unless you have high standards for what you consider to be neutral.

As for supporting the destruction of Steelhold, while we appreciate your offer to support an attack, we are unwilling to join an alliance at this time due to recent events and a desire to make sure our military might is as powerful as it possibly can be before we do any invasion, though may be more willing later. I will admit however that I am surprised you are uninterested in the possible applications that sulphur can be used for, however I won't press that issue.

It seems my stalling has worked out perfectly. We are now able to actually harm our foes. But even so, they're not weak. We have committed to using Steelhold as an example, but that is fine, as long as we have Daíona to back us up. So even if they try to attack our honorable capital, the demonfolk can attack them from behind.
After all, with this army  we are about to obliterate, they'll have to dedicate their entire military in order to threaten us.

The Cookie Kingdom to the north worries me. A report says they aren't very keen on being eaten or compliments of the witch. But it's a bit late for an apology now. Instead, we must secure Daíona as an ally. They are the only ones who may work with us, due to the common enemy we'll now have.
I just need a killer deal. They want that land. But no fair. The lands of Steelhold will be much later, and they're filled with hairy menfolk. And we can't trust they would let us keep such quantities of steel. So that leaves the Cookie Kingdom, but that would be 3 territories of Daíona and 2 of us. Way too weak. We need to take this first territory.

If you think we'll hand over our territory without a fight, you're sorely mistaken. For while we were sending letters, our soldiers were recently equipped with bows. Soon the people of Steelhold will be the first demonstration of how fierce our Footmen are, now with bows and arrows easily capable of penetrating their sorry excuses for armor.
And that is just phase one of our bow project. For we have begun enlisting an old ally, the Werwolfe. Mighty archers that have hunted giants. Though our bows are a bit small for them, phase two will make them bows well capable of equipping them.

We will be keeping this land, and you'll have to contend with Steelhold, as was your original plan. So spare me your demands of lands. If you want compensation, name the goods you'd be interested in. After all, it's not as if you can ally with Steelhold for anything.

Jelly Bees - Grapefruit sized insects formed almost entirely out of Jelly. They are capable of flight, and their stingers can reliably penetrate the average Cookies body. However, while they are capable of causing great damage to unprotected flesh and skipping over the frontlines to assault the enemies in the rear, they simply cannot output the force necessary to cause any harm through armor that's tougher than leather. In addition, their bodies being made of jelly makes them somewhat fagile, lighter blunt weapon attacks disperse well, causing almost no harm, but powerful blunt force blows can splatter their bodies completely, and bladed weapons can cleave straight through their squishy forms. Altogether though, Jelly Bees still remain far more cheap to raise, train and feed than equipping, training and supporting a Knight, allowing four to be fielded for every one actual soldier. Plus the honey and environmental benefits provided by having so many bees around certainly makes them a desirable option. (1/4th an RP)

Knight Cookies - Knights, kitted out in sugar reinforced white-chocolate plate armor with jelly joints and a hard candy shield. They wield sharp, purpose made candy swords. Being Cookies, their bodies are hard, and lack internal structure. This means that blades may have a hard time cutting into their bodies, and piercing weapons won't hit anything vital, but blunt weaponry is far more effective, with an almost complete lack of padding to dampen the impact on their ridged bodies a good hit with a blunt weapon such as a warhammer can smash off limbs or cause parts of their body to crumble.

Wildberry Archer Cookies - These Cookies, taking after the untamed origin of their ingredients, are skilled hunters, and used to life in the wilderness, outside of cities and towns. They are competent archers, wielding fairly average bows, wooden with jelly-based bowstrings. The real trick is their arrows which, much like a large majority of other Cookie equipment, use candy instead of metal for their tips. This doesn't generally effect non-biological creature, Cookies included, but against flesh-based life the arrowheads tend to melt and become sticky in the wounds. This means that if the arrows are not removed very quickly they can become very difficult and painful to extract, and even cause quite a bit more damage being removed. Their bodies are less hard than some other cookies as they are filled with jam, but otherwise they still have no real internals, blades have an easier time cutting into them than the average Cookie and blunt weapons are only slightly more effective instead of greatly.

Candy Cannon - The latest in Candy siege technology. A large candy and sugar-glass orb with candy wheels and a Blast Jelly lined barrel on one end. The enthusiastic jawbreakers residing within take their name literally, and love being fired out at unfortunate targets. The Blast Jelly lining the inside of the barrel allows the Jawbreakers to be fired with great force, enough to damage stone walls with prolonged bombardment, but it is a good bit less effective than a regular cannon would be. There is also the fact that the Candy Cannon cannot move or aim itself, and instead must be accompanied by other units. The materials leave a candy cannon costing as much as 10 Knights, but it is arguably worth it for the force it provides. (10 RP)

Gumball Blasters - Wielders of the result of an experiment to make a cookie-portable version of the Candy Cannons Blast Jelly propelled shooting. Gumball Blasters wield long, blast jelly lines tubes with a dome at one end, this dome is filled with large candy balls that, when colliding with something at high speeds, splatter into a big, and quite sticky, mess that limits movement.  Much like other cookies, their bodies are quite hard.

Biscuit Cavalry - Knight Cookies armed with spears, and riding atop our trained biscuit horses. The horses, being animal crackers, are far less effected by things like caltrops and sharp weapons in general than an ordinary horse, but are much more vulnerable to blunt attacks. Being cavalry, they are obviously a good bit more effective than soldiers on foot, but having a horse in addition to a knight costs twice as much. (2 RP)

Mega Jackson Ball - Large magical constructs found in the ancient City of Wizards which hover a short distance off the ground. A large rotating saw-like ring circles around their body, shredding through anything that moves into melee range with its front. Meanwhile higher up is a strange weapon, which fires powerful beams of magical energy, capable of incinerating most organic material, but struggles against metals and stone(though in the case of armor, the wearer may not be so lucky). The cogs and gears that make up their internal structure can shift about, presumably removing functionality from less visible features in order to keep the important ones running, though this can only be done so much. Even just returning them to functionality takes an immense amount of resources and magic. (25 RP) [Will have an image shortly]

Wind Archer Cookie - A legendary archer, once the very wind that blew through the forest. He was given the form of a cookie to help him purify the darkness, and protect the land. He can shoot arrows of light from his bow, up to three at once, and with power ranging from normal arrows, to being enough to put a hole clean through a man and hit the one behind him. When they're at their lower levels, they can be directly guided mid-air.

Tiger Lily Cookie - The long lost sister of Princess Cookie, Tiger Lily was  raised by a majestic and mighty butter tiger, and through her time has mastered the jungles and forests she calls home. She rides the butter tiger that raised her into battle, it presenting a terrifying threat in its own right, and she wields an enchanted sugar tipped spear, which leaves through flesh as easily as Jellies, and increases her speed while held.

Jellies- A strange sort of gummy material made using sugar. Jelly can be shaped in various ways, can gain different properties based on ingredients used to make it, and there even exist living and naturally reproducing creatures made out of it. On its own it's far from durable, and is in fact edible, so it's not really good for weapons, but it's otherwise a very versatile material.

Power Jellies- One of the few leftover creations of the Witch that is to some degree properly understood. They are types of jellies with strange, almost magical properties, and come in four types. Energy Jellies don't do anything on their own but can be brewed into potions that rejuvenate and slightly heal the drinker, Growth Jellies cause the eater to grow to several times their size for a short duration, Blast Jellies propel what they're applied to forward at great speed, and Magnet Jellies cause the eater to attract other Jellies to themself but weakly enough that any Jelly capable of locomotion can resist.

Train Knight Cookies to utilize Blast Jelly- By utilizing Blast Jelly, Knight Cookies will be able to charge on foot at cavalry speeds, but they have to be used carefully, because when you're Blasting, there is no stopping.

Engineer Small Scale Blast Launchers- Blast Jelly has a variety of uses, for instance, as sen in our Candy Cannons, it can be utilized as propulsion for projectiles. This project is effectively an attempt at making a cookie-portable equivalent to that.

Recruit Gumball Blasters- The results of our experiments in cookie-portable Blast Jelly based weaponry, Gumball Blasters wield large, Blast Jelly lined tubes that end in domes containing a large number of large candy balls. These balls consist of a strange, and quite sticky substance, when colliding with something at great speed, they tend to splatter upon it, creating a big, sticky mess that limits movement.

Recruit the Cookie in the Forest?- After a short trip by a courier, headed by a pair of Wildberries, into the forest to meet the mysterious Cookie, they where successful. And wouldn't you know it, this Cookie turned out to be none other than Princess Rose Cookies lost sister, Princess Tiger Lily Cookie.

Rebuild the City of Wizards, Central Tower - The central tower of the ancient City of Wizards, ruined since before even the Witches time. While the materials of the structure themselves are not particularly tough, the strange enchantments that pervade the whole of the city, even in its ruined state, make it particularly difficult to siege from afar, and the strange mechanisms within prove a dangerous threat to invaders. A few of the surrounding structures have been rebuilt as well, though none of them are particularly important, they provide adequate housing for our researchers. (will be added to map when I have time, for now just imagine a big Wizardy stone tower with clockworky stuff and some smaller wizardy buildings around it)

Reactivate Mega Jackson Balls - These ancient constructs where found within the long ruined city of wizards. Huge spherical machines of clockwork and magic that seem to hover over the ground, a large bladed outer ring rotates like a saw around their body, shredding through those that get close to their front, while distant targets can be blasted with powerful beams of magical energy capable of incinerating most organic material, though thick layers of iron and stone such as fortress walls prove too much for them to properly penetrate. Their bodies are made of hard brass, filled with many complex sets of gears that can seemingly re-arrange if need be to keep everything working. These machines are strange, it is unlikely we will be able to reproduce them in our time, but if we ever need more than we can find in the City, than truly those would be desperate times indeed.

Log: Well, it appears the Witch friends have marched to war, intent on capturing the Woodrock estate, I fear what they will do to the poor people living there, but at least they seem to have a defender. Our other friends in Steelhold have decided to march to their aid. I am inclined to aid them, but I worry for the safety of my people, regardless of their role as soldiers... we have, however, gained quite the hefty benefit from the reconstruction of the Tower, indeed, strange magical constructs which Wizard Cookie has stated to be 'Mega Jackson Balls'. While I admit the name is odd, I cannot deny their terrifying power.

For they have openly declared to us both their dealings with the Witch, and their desire to consume our kind as nothing more than treats.
