The trailer seemed a lot more like it was taking cues from Firefly than from Star Trek, Warhammer, or Star War anyways, except with a dash of Victorian England thrown in there as well. Seemed almost steampunk with the retro scifi artstyle.

Even Warhammer isn't purely dystopian, but is probably closer to it than any other universe.

Well, yeah, but not on every planet at any given time ;) There are civilized planets where people live normal lives.

If 40k isn't dystopian by definition, then nothing is. The fact that some people enjoy relatively normal lives doesn't change the setting in which they live those lives. If 5% of humanity lives a good life on the backs of the other 95% living miserable lives and getting chewed up by the Imperium, that's a dystopia. Just not from the perspective of the 5%.

Well, as I said, none of the big sci-fi franchises are purely distopian or utopian. How should that be possible in a whole galaxy or even several galaxies? I never dived that deep into WH40k lore, but I've read that for example planets controlled by the space marines are quite save from the inquisitors and stuff and thus their inhabitants live comparatively good lives. There are more factions than just the empire as well, and I'm sure not all of them treat their citizens like garbage. Sure, the battles are brutal and billions of lives are wasted, but behind that it's not all bad.

Maybe you should dive more deeply into the lore.

Nah, there are enough other things to dive into that interest me more.

Wow, Fallout and Firefly? Visuals reminds me of No Man's Sky and overall a dash of Borderlands..

Something tells me even if the game manages to be more broken and borked than 76, it's gonna sell. And sell good.

Not really much new info here, but it will be "free of microtransactions".

Singleplayer games can brag about their lack of microtransactions, now. I love it.

I find it pretty hilarious how they tried to (and succeeded!) make this look visually distinct from Fallout and similar games, yet there's a bunch of people in here complaining about the trash lying around. I didn't even notice. The environments look heckin' juicy.
Some of the dialogue seemed a bit overly hammy, that was probably my main complaint after watching the trailer just once.

Microtransactions are ostensibly a way for developers to produce additional content after the game's launch and be compensated for it. There's not really any factor of that premise that is necessarily tied to multiplayer gameplay.

I don't think DLC and microtransactions is on a general == basis. Microtransactions is more stuff like "xp boost for 1h" stuff in my mind.

Yeah, that's part of why I said 'ostensibly'. We all know that many dev's have chosen to abuse the concept of microtransactions(and DLC too in many cases) to squeeze as much money from their consumers as possible while putting in minimal effort. And that's why these methods have gotten a bad name, despite the fact that many other developers have utilized them in a fair and reasonable manner.

The term "microtransactions" suggests something very different to honest DLC.
Although, of course, there are plenty of devs these days who apply the money-hungry microtransaction mentality to full-scale DLC as well...

Like the comparison to Firefly. I can see it, with some of the ship design and general feel of the technology. Sort of cobbled together, but not literally just a bunch of rusty cans duct taped together or something, like certain fallout stuff.

You should really look to the wilderness for your stealth ideas, it has been doing it much longer than you have after all. Take squids for example, that ink trick works pretty well, and in water too! So you just sneak into the dam upsteam, dump several megatons of distressed squid into it, then break the dam. Boom, you suddenly have enough water-proof stealth for a whole city!
