"Underrrstood. I'll be happy enough to go back to clearrr skies and grrrass fields."

"And rrrescuing ourrr brrretherrrn. No merrrcy for those humans."

Joachim moved over next to Heledd, feeling more comfortable with his own kind.

"Have fun with the old man yesterrrday?"

At some point, Alys had found her way into the city, gotten lost, and had found her way back to the guildhouse.
"U-um, if they're aggressive because they're starving or drugged, isn't there a Staff we could get to fix that? I, uh, don't know much beyond Heal and Mend for what they do, but there's gotta be one, right?"

"If we run into that, we'll do our best not to kill any half-crazed Laguz. Just try to force them out of their transformation and knock 'em out. They'll need food and rest in that situation, not healing magic." Grae picked up his swords and pack that he'd left at the foot of the bed he'd taken for the night, and slung them over his back. "In fact, try to keep anyone we run into alive. We don't know how many questions we may have to ask, and if she's already dead, her captor might be worth something to King Himos. More likely so if he's alive."

She sighs, a bit saddened. She had a bad habit of assuming that healing staves could fix everything, and she never caught it before she said anything.
"Alright, that's fair..." she mumbled nervously. She had been doing this for a bit now, shouldn't she know better than that? She was actively nervous now, almost as much as Milos, but for a different reason.

Early mornings... jobs to do. These guildhouses felt like home. It was the first good night's sleep she'd had in weeks.

Claire resisted the urge to rub the sleep out of her eyes like a child, occupying her hands instead with flipping slowly through the pages of her newly purchased tome. Beneath her fingers she could almost feel the magic stored within, the embers ready to be fanned into flame. Not unfamiliar, yet not the element she was most comfortable with. She tore her attention away from the tome to give Alys a small smile that vanished almost as quickly as it came.

"They might be wounded, so healing would still help in that case... How we'll end up helping will probably change as the situation does. We'll just do what we can."

"Yeah, good point... Just because we're holding back doesn't mean they won't get hurt whatsoever." Alys says with a more lingering smile. "I guess I'm just nervous, since sometimes, well..." her voice drops a bit in volume for the next bit, and her smile falters. "I feel like I can't do anything that really helps. I can heal, but Vulneraries and Herbs work too... And I can't fight, so ultimately I just stay back, then sprint through the... Bodies." She sighs and shakes the grim look off her face.
"I guess it's just not what I'm used to, y'know?"

"If you consider sniffing tomes fun." She shook her head, a bit subdued. "Though the conversation wasn't bad." She'd never concerned herself with what the humans were actually doing, for the most part; she hunted down dangerous criminals, they gave her food, and she went on her merry way. The idea of being caught like that was. . . disturbing.

"... If it weren't for your healing, we'd have had a lot more trouble with those laguz that challenged us on the way to the king." They hadn't used any vulneraries in that fight - there hadn't been time between the laguz rushing them and their own attacks to drive them back. "But I... get how it is to feel that way sometimes."

She wasn't sure what else to say, especially since this was a bit too public for anything approaching a heart-to-heart. What she'd said was genuine, and maybe that was enough; for now, Claire went back to checking that she had everything she needed ready to head out.

"Prrrobably morrre fun than I had."

Joachim sighed. He'd thought meeting humans would be more exciting, but so far all he'd learned was that the only two with any sense of fun were the old man and the redhead, and that their cities were confusing messes. And apparently they were capable of producing some real bastards, from what he'd heard when Jupi caught them all up last night.

"I'm looking forrrwarrrd to putting these claws to good use."

"Man, gotta fight other Laguz? Well, I kinda figured there'd be something complicated like that, but that's not great."
Aya sighs. It's not as if she didn't know what (seriously) fighting other Laguz was like; there were some pretty ornery bastards out there in the wild. It was still rather awkward when you were hoping for a mate to travel a little while with and instead that guy wanted to rip your throat out and take your stuff, so you had to beat the crap out of him and leave him alone before he went after you again. Beast snatchers were also something she wasn't unfamiliar with.

Of course, granted, when you'd lived among humans as long as Aya had, it wasn't exactly difficult to outwit a bunch of dimwits who thought catching a wolf that thought exactly like you was going to be easy coin. All things considered, opposing Laguz were more or less a minor inconvenience considering the stuff Aya had seen. Beast snatchers, on the other hand, were people she'd be happy to smack around a little bit.
"Alright. Well, I can guarantee I won't hurt the other Laguz too much, but as for the dumbasses who locked them up, uh.....you might want to get back to me on that one."

The trip out of the city was just as uneventful as the trip in, as the morning shift of guards were quick to wave the group through the city gates alongside other people leaving Cuue. The trip out to the mine eventually grew lonely, as roads forked, and wagons and riders stopped passing by the group. But even the road leading to the old mine was more well kept and easily walked than the paths of Sampia, and Grae, at least, was quite happy for that.

Three days passed before the group came face to face with the entrance to the mines. The mining town proper lay beyond the rocky hills in which the mine was set, and the group had not spotted anyone apart from themselves in the past day. Quietly, making sure not to stay in the open long, the group quickly entered the hills.

~Player Phase 1~

The inside of the mines were quiet, though after two sharp curves in the hall and another thirty feet, the group was met with lit torches. Grae spoke in almost a whisper, but each of the group could hear him in the near silence. "Just as we thought. Someone is here. Take it slow. Stick together. Subdue where possible. Let's get moving."

Kawri had been mysteriously absent for much of the time the party was in town. Where, precisely, she had been - who could say? But something new was tucked within her shiny pouch.
"Enough room for birds to fly, at least. Kawri would not want to have to walk all the way. "

"Big cave. Reaaaal big cave. Watch the little guy back there. Don't want him to get lost in this place."
Aya motions to Milos as she strolls down towards the end of the chamber. Then Joachim. A small grin grows on her face.
"You two best keep up then."

Jupi whistles low in appreciation.

"Can't say I've ever been in a mine before. This should be fun!"
