Vanessa continued to smile towards Milos,
"Glad you're feeling a bit better, anyway I'm sure you'll get used to them. Laguz aren't that scary."

She let out a deep sigh as she then turned towards Claire,
"I hope not, those are always so boring. I can't do any cool stuff in them."

"Others call the birth-skies Yeon, yes. Not crows. No walls or lines in skies to say: this is Yeon, this is not."
"Good Aurelia can fight."
"Rescue party will need to fight. Shed blood, shed lives. Aurelia must not hesitate if inexperienced, yes?"

Clover would pause for a couple of moments before responding to Joachim's question.

"Yeah, I haven't been a mercenary long; about a year, I suppose? Not that I'm a stranger to trouble, mind you. In the past I preferred to stay in the shadows and keep away from the trouble. Nowadays I'm more of... a scout, I guess? I can fight, but I'm the one that helps the group get in through the back door when the front is crawling with guards."

She'd pause for just a short moment, smiling just a bit.

"And if there's treasure to be had the back way, so much the better!"

Clover would look at Joachim, considering him for a moment.

"What about you? I'm guessing the mercenary life is new to you; at least our way of doing it, anyways. But I can't imagine the king would've sent you with us if you had no combat experience at all."

[SeriousConcentrate]

"Yes, it is. This is the firrrst time I've left Navarrrrrre."

"But I'm quite the fighterrr, especially against birrrds. I'm the best hunterrr in the rrregion and prrrobably all of Sampia. I'm going to prrrove it."

"Oh, one of those kinda guys who wants to prove themselves, huh? Surprised there aren't more like that here. I'm just here for the payday, personally; travelling the world ain't cheap."

A few days later, the group was approaching the Morcian border. The weather had improved significantly over the past few days, leading to calm, sunny days spent traversing the untamed landscapes of Sampia.

"We'll probably attract too much scrutiny passing through one of the border checkpoints. The wolf and the birds would attract enough attention as is, but I don't doubt they'd detain the cats. We'll try scaling one of the less well patrolled areas of the border."

"Sounds fun."

Joachim yawned and stretched lazily.

"I'm looking forrrward to climbing norrrmally. All this two-legged walking is borrring."

[Kansa]

Vanessa looked towards Joachim, curiosity plain on her face
"What's it like? Being able to have more than two legs?"

Joachim thought about this, a hand to his chin.

"Hmm..."

"Verrry liberrrating. I don't parrrticularrrly like clothes, so rrrunning arrround in furrr is much frrreerrr. And so fast, too! Two legs is slow and feels clumsy. If it wasn't forrr the fact that it's rrratherrr drrraining to do so, I'd be in my trrrue forrrm all the time."

"And, of courrrse, being able to speak and have hands is useful a lot of the time. It's not all bad, this."

"Just not what I prrreferrr."

Aya sees an opportunity to slip herself into a conversation.
"It's pretty convenient to not scare off the nearest living souls in the wilderness, yes. Though, I HAVE learned to stay in my true form for....well, however much I feel like, buuuut, well....most people don't like trading bandages with an inarticulate wolf in the middle of the woods."

"Do you not live among yourrr own kind?"

"I travel a lot; see the sights, do odd jobs for money, the works. Gets boring, settling down in one place for years, especially when you grew up in a small village in the middle of who-knows-where. Compared to seeing rice paddies again, wandering around the world seems like a dream to me."

"Perrrhaps it's differrrent when you'rrre the top cat in yourrr home."

Joachim stuffed his hands in the pockets of his coat.

"Maybe I'll ask the king for the village of Navarrrrrre as my land payment. I can't imagine wanting to live anywherrre else, and being in charrrge might be fun."

"I dunno. I don't exactly want that kind of responsibility, you know? Having to run the whole place, decide who does what and when, and having to take responsibility when something fails. Being in charge doesn't seem all that great to me, personally."
