Heading around to the garden area, he hears Rowan's shouting and spots them.

"Hey"

Rowan nods towards Venza to confirm his relative safety.

"Looks like everyone's here... Then let's do as Sir Albrecht suggested."

The pegasus rider looks at the burning roof before sinking his head, moving closer to Erica, whispering to her.

"I can't ask Sir Albrecht while he's carrying Her Highness, so I leave it to you... May I carry Lord Joachim's... remains, just outside of Her Highness' view? He deserves a tombstone, not a grave of ash..."

"That he does. We won't have time for a tombstone, but a cairn may be in order. Do it."

With a swift glide, Rowan moves next to Joachim's corpse, dismounting from his steed and ripping off any piece of cloth he could use to cover his hands before lifting up the corpse. He had some trouble getting it on Palewing's back, though.

His gaze wanders to Venza, who was nearby.

"Venza... I hate to ask, but... please help me with this."

Venza looks upon the scene.

"I guess this is her... fiance." he whispers as he helps.

"Whoever orchestrated this went too far. There are discourses for this."

With everything now properly secured and the corpse covered under a larger piece of cloth to let it keep as much dignity as possible, Rowan walks after the rest of the group, next to Venza.

"Forget discourses. This will mean war. I know for a fact that this marriage wasn't popular with the Seven Sisters' clergy and several influencal merchants..."
"I see no reason for priests of the Seven Sisters to stain themselves with this sinful act, though."

It may be a mixture of factions.. Based on that, the merchants likely paid for this, and given who we just faced, there may be those in the Seven Sisters who still speak to some who have been disgraced. Which means there is likely a single orchastrator, it wouldn't be that difficult to falsify the approve of the Seven Sisters with some of those Disgraced. They would have the knowledge. he muses along the path that could have led to this point.

"The powerful and the wealthy will do what they can to sway the course of government in their favor. Until we can conclusively rule out the church, everyone's a suspect. That fire was likely intended to burn our bodies along with evidence of the perpetrator's true colors."

[SirAston]

"Erica, don't you dare speak ill of the church. It is their selfless and benevolent acts that helped make this land prosper. They would never approve to something like this... slaughter."
"A Disgraced one, though... We met one today, didn't we? Who says there aren't more involved?"

"Believe me, not all people who claim to serve a higher power are good people. Otherwise, I wouldn't be here. Nobody is above suspicion until we can confirm the real perpetrators."

The disgraced were once a part of the Church as well Rowan. Not all serve others as they say. It just means we need to find the trail.

"The trail is behind our backs, burning away. I want my revenge as much as you all do, but for now, there's little we can do. We can only give Lord Joachim the burial he deserves, escort Her Highness back and ask His Majesty what to do with the survivors of House Lichteisen..."

Rowan then glances towards Erica.

"... You wouldn't be here, Erica? Explain yourself."

"The powerful attract many enemies, especially the ones with sheep's clothing. My trade is as a bodyguard; I make it my life's work to protect others. If Joachim hadn't needed someone to protect him, I wouldn't be here."
Erica pauses, then continues with a little bitterness in her voice.
"Of course, if I'd done my job somewhat better, perhaps he would still be here too."

"The Church is made up of good people." Jill agrees with Rowan. "But the fact that some of them do end up disgraced is a reminder they are people. After all, before they were disgraced they were not disgraced. Someone might be hiding their true face under a mask of faith, and using the faithful as a shield. Or not, we just don't know."


"Hopefully there's just some outcasts involved, faking things... that'd be much easier and better to deal with."
