And all was peace and quiet inside the manor.

Erica adjusts her glasses, un-ruffling her collar and pulling herself to her feet; that axe to the shoulder wasn't something she'd have liked to take on the best of days. The threat was neutralised, affairs were sorted. Now for the formalities.

A long time ago, Joachim's demise would have been sad and horrifying to Erica, but the truth of the matter was, she was used to her principals dying. After all, if they lived lives that were safe from such dangers, they wouldn't need Erica's services. As it was back home, so it was here. At least he didn't die horrifically from the likes of the poisons and toxins she'd seen; a quick death by the sword was far better than a slow, lingering one.

Still, a small part of her had hoped that maybe this charge would have been....easier.
"....dispose of the bodies of the intruders. We need to locate Joachim's remains, if possible.

[Haspen]

Princess Sophia turned to Erica.

"He is not dead!" She yelled angrily. "He's alive somewhere!"

Erica gives Sophia a very calm, almost eerily calm, glare.
"Hope for the best, prepare for the worst. If we locate his remains, then at least we can give him a proper burial, as he deserves. If not, then we have one of two possibilities; either his remains were disposed of immediately or he's being held, possibly held hostage; with how this attack was conducted, his escape is very unlikely, not without assistance. So I'm asking you to remain calm, milady. Your anger will not help us find him sooner."

Venza goes to grab Rowan so they can get their allies up.

"Come on Rowan, we need to treat the wounds those two have. Don't think she is in a state to..."

[Haspen]

"He is not dead!!" Sophia glared back at Erica, hands gripping on the staff with such force the knuckles turned white.

Albrecht turned to Priscilla.

"We should take a look around."

"And if he isn't, you have my most sincere apologies. Now, if you excuse me, I'm going to go look for him."
Erica heads off to take a look around, confirm what Ilke had claimed; body parts, identifying features, anything that might corroborate or dismantle the notion of Joachim's death.

She was also used to this part, too. Having to tell the loved ones of her deceased charges that they had died; granted, Erica didn't quite know that Joachim was dead yet, but the balance of probabilities told her that if he wasn't dead yet, he was likely going to be if they didn't head off soon. Still.....it didn't get any easier. Erica was fine with handling the anger of people like this. Anger and grief were a part of the job, as was death.

The princess, however, didn't deserve this. She was too young for something like this. Far too young.

Priscilla placed a comforting hand on the Princess' shoulder.
"...Your highness."
"We will search the rest of the mansion. Johannes, if you can take the Princess outside? Let her get some air."

"We should take a look around."

"Aye. An attack like this should never have succeeded. Everyone, rally back here once you've explored sufficient or thirty minutes pass; be careful. Hopefully we've defeated all of them, but there might still be a few craven lying in wait."

Rowan marches around and tends to everyone's wounds to the best of his abilities. Then, he stands before the corpse of the "Sister", taking a nearby piece of cloth and throwing it over its face.

"You rejected your status and your name, so you'll be treated accordingly so. You're not worth remembered for anything, even your crimes..."
"Only the mass grave awaits you now."

The rider then turns towards the others as Albrecht made his suggestion.

"I'll go outside and try if Palewing and I can spot anything noteworthy. Wave a flag or a torch if you need me on the ground."

And with that, Rowan walks outside, mounting his trusted steed and flying to the sky. A needed moment of solitude for him.

He is rather silent, isn't he..

Venza goes back to the 5,7 room, meeting with Erica for a bit if possible. Once there, he tries to determine how long the bodies in that room have been there since they died.(death time estimate?)

Near end room:

There wasn't a need for Erica and Priscilla to search for long.

The entirety of the garden, just around the corner, was strewn with corpses. A mighty battle was fought there. Part of the bodies were in rags and other crude armor, but several had baldrics and crests of Lichteisen house.

Under the big oak, a young man was laying. His head tilted onto his shoulder, his arm placed on his chest, he looked as if peacefully sleeping.

The large, red stain underneath him, and three bolts sticking from his body, unfortunately, shown clearly that it wasn't just sleep.

Joachim was dead.

Near the entrance:

Venza found the bodies relatively fresh. Maybe an hour or so of difference, and everything would've ended on much happier note.

Venza's sharp nose, however, could smell something in that moment - smoke. It didn't come from anywhere on this floor, however. It was coming from the ceiling above his head.
