"(2)(5-1) The Norse have decided to make a camp and beat the Byzantine reinforcements. They didn't gather many logs or any other resources, but they get (4) decent wooden walls constructed. Some of the Norse scouts hear a trample of cataphracts' horses."

One turn left until the reinforcements.

(3-500 Ducats? or some armour)

Agree, plus that's about the LAST thing *I* want to see from this kind of game - author spending valuable development time on useless graphics.

Also, make sure our boats and escape routes are secure, just in case they bring siege equipment or their numbers are just that overwhelming.

The update is bound to be tomorrow, since I'm currently stuffed with wok and sushi, and my brain can't function with so much food inside me.

"(1)(4) The vikings were trying to set up some archery towers, but something went wrong during the construction and the towers have collapsed, with some of the archers getting killed. Luckily, the foundation of the wall's still standing. The reinforcements arrive, and (5) it's just one squad of the famous Byzantine cataphracts. (2+1) VS (6) Even despite the walls, the sheer force of the gallop's enough to kill several of the Norsemen. They still hold the entrance and are eager to fight, however."

-10 archers, -20 heavy axemen, -4 elite infantry, -2 atgeir wielders. The cataphracts are attacking without questioning.

Lead the atgeir wielders against the horsemen. Enemies like these are why we keep polearms around.

"(3+1 VS 4) The atgeir wielders quickly reform and stand outside the gate, and when the cataphracts charge in, the results are mixed: The cataphracts took casualties, but their long spears did take out a decent amount of the atgeir wielders. Cataphracts then retreat away, but they don't seem willing to turn back and charge yet again; perhaps they're waiting for the infantry to arrive, or they realize that's futile to try to break through the atgeirs."

-12 atgeir wielders, The weather is the same, the reinforcements will arrive in 4 turns.
