there is a new item, 'dwarven personal flotation device,' yup its a barrel filled with air and a cork. maybe a chain for a handle. These items can give your non-swimmers a chance at survival.

upon entry into a tile of fluid, the dwarf is raised to the topmost tile and treated as though they are a competent swimmer. As well, any effects of water movement are accentuated - the currents may carry a dwarf far easier than usual.

unfortunately, the barrel takes up quite a bit of space and must either be held with both hands or strapped to the back. combat penalties are massive.

oh and the barrel must be made of wood or the effects are opposite as described

Make all dwarf hair bioluminescent

... now I want bioluminescent waves ...

Implement Fly Agaric mushrooms, make reindeer get high from eating them, and let dwarves collect and drink the reindeers’ piss.

Animal piss is what elven taverns serve, at least according to dwarves.

Visiting elves should secretly collect dwarf piss in their grown <insert wood name> barrels and take it to their taverns to be sold as beer to visiting dwarves.

Depending on the skill of the dwarves’ brewer back home, the dwarves may not be able to tell the difference.

An advanced world gen setting controls how many booze, piss, and other liquid forgotten beasts roam the world.

Forgotten beasts made of liquids can *engulf* dwarfs, possibly smothering or drowning them, and training swimming skill. Killing liquid forgotten beasts causes a small flood. Being engulfed by a liquid FB also can heat or cool the dwarf because... magma FBs.

If your dwarf worships a certain deity from Greek mythology, this will occur no matter what they meditate on.

That's about 60% of one of the first mods I ever made.

Well... procedurally-generated Production Tree and Materials/Goods Trees, all integrated into a totally novel Tech Tree (if one has to be gradually revealed by iterations) for each 'run' of the game might be a Terrible Suggestion... but I rather think that I'd quite like it.

Game 1: Your Mud-Miners get Clay Mud enough together to create Heat Tiles (by the Squeeze With Hydraulic Press labour) to line the Plasma Tunnel walls, to provide power to the Blade-Flinger (the only way to pierce the Fabric Of Space that is stopping you from getting to the Asbestos that you need for...)...

Game 2: You are having to trade the raw Kavorite in your embark for the Silage (not available on your map) needed to ferment in the Bioreactor that (by several further processes) produces Deflogistonated Air to fill the Scuba Tanks necessary to get to the Artefact Teleporter Pad and fix it so that you can reach the bit of the map with the Toffee veins, to fulfil the demand of tribute by the...

Remember that Terrible in the context of this thread can mean something as simple as utterly imbalanced/impractical, it doesn't necessarily always mean non-fun. :P

Plates and mugs now become dirty and must be washed. If using a (too) dirty mug or plate, dwarves get bad thoughts. Come to think of it, clothes become dirty and must be washed (and hung to dry) to prevent bad thoughts.

(...though, I'll have to admit, I'd sort of like to see these in the game)
