That reminds me of Chef Boyardee and then I wondered what Dwarf Boyardee would put in his canned pasta.

Minced dwarven flour, cat tallow, rutherer meat.

Enable craftsdwarves to churn out single-serving containers of various materials, in which both basic foods and prepared meals can be stored.  Containers made of metal are called cans, glass ones are jars.  Anything stored in these containers will never spoil, even in the presence of vermin, though it immediately suffers a slight decrease in quality.

Also: paper can be used to build containers, dubbed "cardboard boxes."  These are extremely light, easy to haul, and cheap to make, but fall apart if they ever get wet.

Add MREs to the game, they provide no happiness when eaten and some kinds make the person that eats them sad because they are so nasty.

Unless they have a metal tray.  Then, no matter how old or terrible the MRE, they take a few clicks to get the components of the MRE out onto a tray, exclaim "nice," and enjoy its contents.

When dwarves craft bins they craft them full of crafts and won't finish the job unless enough material is made available.

Or they want to craft something, but they ran out of bins, they start to craft a bin to carry the materials they want to use, but they need to craft a bin to carry the materials they want to use to craft that bin, and so on, until all material in the fort is locked in as being allocated to making the bins. Then, if another bin becomes available during that process, it gets used to carry the mats for the bottom bin of the stack, and all material in the fort gets converted into bins, before they finally craft that one item they wanted.

Bin Fortress, its bins all the way down.

Bins should be able to contain bins that contain bins that contain bins that contain bins that contain bins that contain bins that contain bins that contain bins that contain bins that contain bins that contain bins that contain bins that contain bins that contain bins that contain bins that contain bins that contain bins that contain bins that contain bins that contain bins that contain bins that contain bins that contain bins that contain bins that contain bins that contain bins that contain bins that contain bins that contain bins that contain bins that contain bins that contain bins that contain bins that contain bins that contain bins that contain bins that contain bins that contain bins that contain bins that contain bins that contain bins that contain bins that contain bins that contain bins that contain bins that contain bins that contain bins that contain bins that contain bins that contain bins that contain bins that contain bins that contain bins.

Here we have Manyholdings, a diorite bin.  All craftsdwarfship is of the highest quality.  On the object are images of many bins in diorite.  The bins are holding the bins.  The bins are holding the bins.  The bins are holding the bins.  The bins are holding the bins.  The bins are holding the bins.  The bins are holding the bins.  The bins are holding the bins.  The bins are holding the bins.  The bins are holding the bins.  The bins are holding the bins.

Get rid of dwarves and have Bin Fortress instead, where sapient bins containing other sapient bins continually build other sapient bins to put inside themselves and others.  They have a complex caste hierarchy where your social status is determined by the quality of the bins you both contain and are contained in, and how many levels of bins you are inside of.  Bins compete with each other to contain more bins and be contained in more bins.

The bins are laughing. The bins are cringing.

(Rinse and repeat.)
