Were artifacts will turn others into were artifacts if they get in contact with the recipient;s blood, so a were artifacts sword would turn all of those it used to slice into were artifacts swords

They turn into save files. You have to play unthil the end of full moon in every single one of them in order to recover the original save. There time passage before embarking feature is disabled in wereworlds. All wereworlds consist entirelly of a single mountain with a fortress and tons of terrifying glacier tiles.

Honestly, that sounds kind of fun, for, well, one time.
thsts why every wereworld differs! While one may be ice, another may have you playing as underwater forts with octopusmen as playable characters, yet another might have you play as a small group of human seeking out a living in the desert. Another could have you as an adventurer in a world with glass trees and rock animals, and still another would be you having to survive as a tick trying to drink the blood of the various creatures. Losing/dying creates a new wereworld. Every wereworld is different. If you die too many times in a wereworld, you the player, the poster, will wake up in one and will need to survive and find an escape from whatever world you spawn in, using whatever body you have, each time you manage to make your way back to the real world, 2 wereworldd are cured, and it will take slightly more failed wereworlds for you to go back into one IRL. Also each time you escape, you can use your form you used in the wereworld, but if you use it in this world, you will not be able to change back, meaning to get a human form again, you will have to be transported through a wereworld where you are human, so if you survive, you can use the human form. Did I spend too much time on this a/ I think wereworlds are cool. The first wereworld will spawn randomly when a tile is mined, as will others. Each time a wereworld is made this way, there will be a notification saying “[miner] has discovered a portal to somewhere new”

Werefood: dwarves afflicted with this condition turn into delicious food items during the full moon.  Passed on via bites, except that it afflicts any dwarf who bites an item of werefood, turning them into werefood on the next full moon.  This way, your fortress can *literally* eat itself alive!

Sometimes it has you play a fort of wereworlds.

Clowns are replaced with elves, candy is replaced by minable grown wood.

Instead of the elven spring caravan you will now get a monthly plump helmet man caravan. Due to their inability to speak you cannot actually trade with them, but if they detect any plump helmet products in your trade depot, they will (non-verbally) declare war on you. Afterwards, you will be ambushed by legendary plump helmet warriors which will only be revealed at your farm plot when Urist McHarvester collects plump helmets or in the crowded dining hall when Urist McHungryCivilian sits down with a piece of plump helmet roast.

Clowns are reintroduced as the new royal guards. They are still hostile, of course.

this sounds like a cool suggestion, actually, how will reproduction work, though? Maybe if a player wants to join, they select a pair of parents, and those parents get a “quest” to reproduce, not sure how forgotten beasts would come about

Proc Gen underworlds

When digging to the bottom of the world, the player will discover and entirely procedurally generated area filled with proc gen creatures and civilizations. The game will tale from its list of materials and roll randomly.

Of course, because it's the underworld, everything is opposite, such as when they poop, it's out of their heads, and their eyes / mouth are in the groin.

EDIT: saved the day by re-terriblizing the suggestion.

Game calculation is also made via email. Players receive calculation tasks they have to solve and send back. When everything is calculated the game tick ends.
That would be a vilanious scheme of Toady to popularise math.
