Implement the following changes:

  • Allow dwarves to claim a mug (or similar object) and carry it with them to use to drink.
  • Allow dwarves to create plates.
  • Dwarves can now use plates to eat.
  • Dwarves now get a bad thought if they are forced to eat without a plate.
  • Allow dwarves to claim a plate and carry it with them to use to eat.

Plates and mugs now become dirty and must be washed. If using a (too) dirty mug or plate, dwarves get bad thoughts. Come to think of it, clothes become dirty and must be washed (and hung to dry) to prevent bad thoughts.

(...though, I'll have to admit, I'd sort of like to see these in the game)
Why stop there when they also need forks, spoons, and knives to eat with that can also get dirty with use.

During parties, dwarfs must stand around holding their plates of food, their mugs of drink also balanced precariously on the edge. Implement bad thoughts for accidental jostling by others.

Implement carpets, and bad thoughts by the owners of the carpets if they need cleaning.

Dust should gather in places and if it's not cleaned, it'll cause bad thoughts and sneezing. Also, there should be mold growing in wet places and old food. Moldy stuff should also cause bad thoughts and health problems in the long run.

Introduce complex medical systems and remove the intellectual system of the medical dwarves , making it difficult to treat the sink dwarves if the players haven't got a clinical licence .

When cleaning plates, mug, forks, so on, they have to sing and toss the items at each other.   :P

Since vermin have the ability to bite creatures, and are also technically an item, all items should be able to be 'live' and 'bite' creatures.

Mugs should bite more often than other objects, can't wait for the fortresses to be filled with noseless dwarves because their mugs bit them off.

Mugs should have personalities and needs. If their needs (such as being filled with beer) aren't fulfilled they get bad thoughts and stress, eventually leading to tantruming mugs assaulting random bypassers.
