Hmm. That is pretty reasonable. How about we empty out the current waitlist and then it's gone?

Also, I am curious to see how this goes. I was thinking of creating a game like this myself and therefore am hopeful that it does well.

Same here.

claiming turn 5, if red isn't victorious by then
There is no victory condition, only the progression of events and history.

If there's only one nation, then there's not really any major events happening between nations, which gets boring, which leads to people wanting to start new rounds, which leads to people trying to avoid 1 turn nation size doubling, which leads to people trying to double the size of a nation in a single turn anyways, which just creates an endless cycle of no imagination turns.

Because of this, I propose that any turns which are mostly about a nation getting ridiculously bigger in the timespan of a single turn become unallowed.

Hmm. That is pretty reasonable. How about we empty out the current waitlist and then it's gone?

I suggest we still do have a dibs thing, but you have to edit within a shorter time like an hour and can't waitlist. Also, super quick expansion can be called over-expanding, and the expansion of the Reds is possible, but I'd say they'd start running out of resources after such a push...

It's somewhat hard to quickly adapt to increased logistical demand after really rapid expansion, so yeah, the next person to update should consider the drastically raised logistical demands when it comes to the Red nation.

Even with one nation, there are still options:
  • Secession. A part of the country tries to break away. Think The Civil War
  • Sudden Invasion. people from outside the map invade. Think Mongols, or War of the Worlds.
  • Succession Crisis. A king is dead, long live which king? Think War of the Roses
  • Zoom in. Not everything is a war. Think electoral maps, or region economies
  • And more. Think up something.

Hell, we could even zoom out.

Well there's always the "Oh that's why anime exists" nuke which flew too far away from Japan during the late stages of WW2 scenario.

I meant to keep the dibs anyway, and I was considering a time reduction to say 12-24 hours. Just not the waitlist.

Also I am at once surprised and pleased that this thread is being active.

Me too actually. I guess it's just because it's simple but interesting. And for me I was wondering how this would work anyway.

Turn 2: The Counter-Attack

(Note: revised image from Doubloon)

1. Under massive pressure from the People's Democratic Republic of Red, the Last Kingdom of the Greens capitulated and signed a vassalization (read: prelude to annexation) treaty, forming the satellite Green Socialist Republic. It is a part of the People's Democratic Republic of Red in almost all but name.

2. The Blue Federal Republic and the Serene Yellow Empire, normally at odds, were forced into a military alliance to combat the People's Democratic Republic of Red. The combination of pure Imperial ferocity and a revolutionary new rifle design from the Federal Republic managed to turn the battle into a war of attrition.

3. There was no clear victor to the war, so a cease-fire (but no peace treaty) was called and two supposedly neutral buffer states were created: the Orange Theocracy, under the de facto control of the Serene Yellow Empire, and the Purple Territories, the economy of which relied almost solely on the import of goods from the Blue Federal Republic.

Nations List:
People's Democratic Republic of Red
Orange Theocracy
Serene Yellow Empire
Green Socialist Republic
Blue Federal Republic
Purple Territories

That would have been super useful 20 minutes ago.  :P
(the lesson here is probably to type before you draw, so you can be more aware of past changes)

Turn 3: The Insurgency

1. Green transition into socialism has not been without it's problems and pretty soon a number of rebellions loosely ailed under the leadership of former king's nephew Prince Alexander Green have risen.

2. As the flame of rebellion burns ever higher, officials from Green Socialist Republic request the help of their masters from PDR2.

3. People's Democratic Republic of Red send two crack divisions of frontline veterans to deal with the problem from the south (where the oil wells are) and the west (hoping to destroy the rebel prince.)

Nations List:
People's Democratic Republic of Red
Orange Theocracy
Serene Yellow Empire
Green Socialist Republic
Blue Federal Republic
Purple Territories
Green Rebels

Turn 4: Return of the White

1. Being crack devisions of frontline veterans, the PDR2 devisions are able to stomp out the resistance. However, the fact that such elite troops were sent and that they defeated the rebels in excessively brutal fashion and the spark of rebellion is still burning among the Greens.

2. The Whites are back. In what used to be the capital of White a pretender to the throne directly related to the once ruler of White led a coup that had been planned for years, creating a solid center of organized rebellion in the central capital.

3. The Royal Guard, an elite part of the army dedicated to the protection of the capital, officially sides with the True White Empire and begins entrenching the area around the capital as disorganized rebellions of True Loyalists appear around the central area, mainly in PDR2. The Purple Territories is barely connected to a small part of their country by a threat.

Nations List:
People's Democratic Republic of Red
Orange Theocracy
Serene Yellow Empire
Green Socialist Republic
Blue Federal Republic
Purple Territories
True White Empire
