Shipkilled, Week 7
Simdic's Log, Slate:
"Exploratory mining has begun. With frost-chilled hands, we struck out underground. To somewhat mixed success, we've found a large vein of iron. But our miners have reported sounds of knocking in the earth. An ill omen to be sure. It could be the unsettled earth, or something more sinister. We will need to decide together what action to take.
The new observation post is at least somewhat warm, though our fellows only stay there long enough to read the implements and take notes before scurrying back inside to warmth.
Observations: Temperature remains at -40 Celsius, The blizzard remains.
Next week the blizzard shall end.-Simdic Pebblefury
Choose 5 Actions Actions are seperated between Indoor and Outdoor work. Too much time spent in the cold will leave your people sick and may even lead to death.
Indoor
Research & Innovation
Heating: Grand Gates: 2 temp wood, 2 temp steel: Dwarven holds of old had em, we should too. Raises temp +1 step underground.
Health/Safety: Improved clothing: 2 temp food, 1 temp wood. Reduces risk of work in low temperatures.
Steam Drill Study: 2 Temp Food. Steam Drill unavailable for 2 turns. Our brighter minds want to crack open the steam drill, study its innards and maybe find ways to improve our lot.
Arcane Studies: 2 Temp food. Although we have no hands trained at working magic, we may wish to study it all the same and find a way to use it for our betterment.
Outdoor
Outdoor activities are actions that occur outdoors. Typical activities are construction, gathering and exploration.
Gather Wood- Increase Temp Wood by 1
Gather Steel- Increase Temp Steel by 1
Gather Food- Increase Temp Food by 1
Gather Coal- Increase Temp Coal by 1
Steam Drill [Special Action] -1 Temp Coal, -2 Temp Wood, +2 Depth Level. Does not consume an action.
Dig Deeper [Special Action] -1 Temp Wood, +1 Depth Level.
Expand Workshops Cost 3 Temp Wood, 3 Temp Steel More workshops, specialist tools, and training. Unlocks more research actions.
Proper Housing Cost 2 Temp Wood, Solid doors, proper beds, a space underground surrounded by stone.
Expand Sawmill Cost 4 Temp Wood, 1 temp steel, Gives +1 Perm wood. Powerful sawblades, and more workspace.
Steelworks Costs 2 Temp wood, 1 temp steel, 1 Perm Coal, + 1 Perm Steel. Carts, and a series of forges to turn out good quality steel.
Medical Post Costs 1 Temp food, 1 temp wood. Poultices, beds and a warm space for our people to heal.
Exploratory Mining -1 Temp Wood, Two Actions: May give some supplies of Coal and Steel. May give nothing. May also cause events.
Event: Knocking in the Deeps The sound of knocking rings out in the deeps. A steady tapping on the other side of our mineshafts and diggings. There are those among us who believe the knocking could be the dead trying to find their way back. It could also be the signs of a mountain unsettled by our digging efforts.
[] There is nothing to fear, Dig onwards!
[] Safety first, shore up the tunnels before we proceed (-1 Temp Wood)
[] We shall wait for the knocking to stop before continuing. (No digging actions for ? turns)
