"Mh hmn. Let's say about two hours to get there, two hours to get back, and two hours sand allowance and recon. Expect us back here tonight."
Octavian and Sigma leave the meeting to gather their equipment and get going.
Nobody stops you, and in no time you leave the well-guarded pyramid for the surrounding desert. Back down the hallway (the side of the pyramid sliding to allow your exit), past the garrisoned infantry and alchemch, past the sandstone wall, into the flat yellow sand of the desert. The sun is blinding in the sky, the only noticeable feature besides the base that gets further and further behind you.
Your alchemech's speed is hindered slightly by the sand, but its natural speed allows the journey to be a swift one regardless. Sigma's systems also protect you from the heat, making a daytime trip through the desert much more pleasant than it would be for an infantryman in your same position. It was essentially a straight line to the target, without any noticeable geographical features between you and it. Just flat desert. In the end, your two hour estimate seemed to be spot on.
The base itself was a clear sign of an Alchemist's hand. Far from a rudimentary camp, it had the appearance of a military base or prison. Walls, fifteen feet high, made of the same sandstone surrounding the pyramid and topped with razor-wire. Guard towers on the four corners, glowing with alchemical runes suggesting they provide solid defenses. Likely utilizing rifles or mounted machine guns. You are still too far away to see clearly. It is fairly small, the only thing really distinguishing it from a real base or fortification. You don't see any entrance from your position, it must be on the other side. Below your feet, the sand is of the same consistency as when you made your journey here. Slightly sinking in, but not enough to slow you down significantly.
Kirstaan, having heard everything he needed, heads out.
Heads out to where, exactly? Do you plan on following Octavian and Sigma?
Hally heads out to grab some caster shells before going to hunt dragon
In particular she is looking for anti alchemech shells, and stuff to help get herself out of sticky situations
As an unfortunate part of not being an alchemist herself, all she can find is a handful of generic explosive caster shells. A well placed shot will certainly take down an alchemech, but the only sticky situations it will get her out of are those that can be solved by liberal applications of explosives.
What is your chosen hunting grounds?
"Guess I'll play it by ear, then. Should be fun. Let me know if you find Rook's location before I do. Good hunting, everyone." Jamison remarks before leaving the briefing. He goes to grab his gear and requisition some sort of communications device to keep in contact to get more intel as it becomes available.
He manages to find an advanced communication device, known as a "radio", in either its handheld or hands-free variant connected to a helmet. They can often be picky devices, but should allow you to communicate with anyone who has the proper equipment and channel. As long as you can get a signal. Most of the alchemech in the squad have such equipment, as do the infantrymen.
"As if us, I will give my soldiers their orders and make sure they are read to move. My recon team will scout ahead to ascertain the enemy's position and highlight some cover, strategic targets, and other assets that would prove beneficial to us."
Communicate with the squads and relay their orders. After send Recon Squad Raven to scout for battlefield assets.
Where would you like to send them?
