The Gods of Mu (OOC/Sign-ups)
« on: October 18, 2018, 12:18:24 am »

Before the gods awoke, there was nothing in the kingdom of Mu. Mu, the first god, lay still. Blind and unconscious the hulking monstrosity of the eldest god slumbered in the dark. Solemn drums beat somber songs around the titan. Ancient pipes played wheezing melodies across the abyss. The universe was Mu, wrapped in a tapestry of vibrant void. Yet as the great blind beast slumbered, others began to awake...

Resting upon the back of the abysmal god of fate Mu, a universe comes to rest. Perhaps it was the gravity of the creature, or it spawned from his latent power, or simply it was the tiny strings of destiny which brought this universe to its unfortunate resting place. Whatever the case, it has come to rest here and here it shall stay, upon the back of the sleeping hulk.

First to awake were the Mumans, four limbed bipedals with a spark deep within their soul. These unfortunate creatures are eternally bound to the web of fate that surrounds their unlikely existence. Then awoke, their gods...

The Gods of Mu is a god game dictated by its constant struggle against the inevitability of fate. This world is closely tied to Mu, the elder god of fate and is uniquely sensitive to the swaying strings of destiny. Destiny is a winding path of different inputs and outcomes, random and meaningless, but perhaps, just perhaps, a clever god could manipulate those strings to their advantage. This is the premise of the game at hand, masterfully manipulate the course of destiny, or see your universe crumble to pieces as you disturb a sleeping behemoth. In this way, it is not the traditional god game of freeform creation and action, but will require both strategy and luck to be successful.

This god game, like most god games, will have a series of turns. Each turn you will be dealt several action cards, the quality and nature of which will vary immensely by the turn. From these you will select the desired card and add it to your hand. Players may trade cards with eachother as they desire. Each turn begins with the dealing of cards, and players may play immediately after choosing their card. The rest is up to fate.

Of course no god game is without worship. Many cards will have specific limitations or targets, many of which will limit action to a player's worshipers. Furthermore, the number of worshipers one possesses will increase the strength of one's actions. The players will begin the game with one "Sign of God" card which will allow them to garner followers. After that, you will have but one turn to regain followers if you lose all of yours in the future. If you remain without followers for more than one turn, you will perish.

Lastly some cards will have an Armageddon score. These cards are powerful enough to shake Mu's web of fate and cause him to stir in his sleep. Be careful when playing many of these cards in a short period.

Damnit people, this is why I said to keep the truce. Because now everyone's ganging up on the cats.
Also, don't forget to contact your local Eldritch Being(s), so that they can help with our mission to destroy the universe.

God's Name: Kel
God's personality and goals: Personality is fairly levelheaded. As for goals, it is Kel's job to make sure that the wheels of civilization and order keep turning. He does not care who keeps things regular and organized, but only that they are.
God's physical description: A humanoid figure, made of a blue-stained glass-like material.
God's realm description: The realm is a plane of perfectly regular objects, following intricate patterns. The shapes look like mortal things like hills and trees and some even seem to be alive, but follow patterns difficult to describe. The pedestal is a circular clearing in the exact centre.
God's spheres: Order, craftsmanship, metal
Sign of God: A cube exactly 9.12 centimetres on each side, made out of the same blue glass. Mortals are drawn towards it from great distances, and all who touch it will know of Order.

God's Name: Magne Lightbearer
God's personality and goals: Magne is a god of fire, whereby it is no surprise that he is fiery, that is to say, courageous, hotheaded, passionate, and often reckless. His goals include the spread and advancement of all mortal races, for his personal definitions of "advancement".
God's physical description: Generally depicted either inanimately as a stone pillar from which fire erupts, or as a figure, optionally wreathed in flame and often holding aloft a green branch, bodily emerging from a stone pillar as though hewn from it. When physically moving about the world, however, he prefers to disguise himself in the subtler shape of a red-haired youth dressed warmly and modestly, with fire and plant motifs.
God's realm description: Magne's realm is the Pyre, a great bowl-shaped valley where huge plants and trees constantly grow upward while the highest parts burn away at the same rate. At the centre, a round rock formation surrounded entirely by ever-burning resinous trees allows visitors to feel Magne's warmth directly but safely. It smells of incense.
God's spheres: Fire and fertility.
Sign of God: Living things in the vicinity appear to grow pregnant, regardless of sex, over the course of minutes to hours, ultimately giving birth to harmless fire.

God's Name: Acter Nobody
God's personality and goals: Goals presently undetermined; probably minimizing suffering and encouraging growth. In terms of personality, Acter tends to (try to) act as the voice of reason, and prefers diplomatic solutions to problems.

God's physical description: Appears as, essentially, an animate human sketch, though wearing a blank white mask with two colored dashes where the eyes are and a black lab coat embroidered with golden ever-shifting equations. He holds a book with navy-blue covers and golden pages.

God's realm descripiton: Acter's realm appears as a vast, drawn city, at various levels of finished-ness. Most of it is very bare, with basic rectangles standing in for where buildings are; as you get closer to the "center" though, everything gets more and more detailed, with more and more details on the buildings, the addition of shading, and finally, upon reaching the Pedestal District, color (although it is still clearly drawn, not "real"). Within the Pedestal District is one embassy per mortal race and nation, a temple (there's no designations for who it's to, but it's clearly to Acter), and a vast tower that can bring one to the top of the District to see the rest of the realm.
Although venturing outside of the District will not, technically, kill a mortal, their body will change to match the "style" of the area they are in, and they will be unable to leave the Realm. There are multiple signs stating this, both in the embassies and around the border of the District.

God's spheres: Improvement, science, and the arts

Sign of God: There are three ways Acter may use his Sign of God, depending on if he's targeting a single person, a small group (~10 people), or just making a general display. For a single person, they will be struck with both Acter's presence as well as inspiration to create (be it an invention, a work of art, or something else). Small groups will have a collective vision of the Pedestal District, always including a visit to the top of the tower, and a feeling of Acter's existence while within the temple. When used just in general, stars in the sky will develop shifting lines between them, connecting constellations or just being pretty. The last connections will always form either a book or Acter's mask.

God's Name: Fōchun Redi Raitī
"The Lady of Fortune and Light~!"

God's personality and goals: Bubbly and Mischievous. Always looking ahead, and sometimes farther. "Grow my little Mumans!~Thrive!"

God's physical description:Shining yellow light emits from her staff, like the sun. And an eye of light emits from beneath her hair, golden as freshly grown wheat.
Eyes as molten gold, she wears naught but a woven robe of yellow, dim, with lines of light crisscrossing beneath it on her body.
However one should beware her hidden scythe, unseen by mortal kin, said to cut the strings of Fate. "That's surely just a Rumor, though, right~!"
Spoiler: Base (click to show/hide)

God's realm description: A meadow overlooking a great lake. A tree atop a hill. Sky so blue, as far as the eye can see atop this island floating above.
Forests and trees, rivers and fields. "The sun and moon, shining in the sky, depending on what time it is, by my whim anyway~`"
Tunnels lead under, but that tree atop the hill, is where her power rests, to meet others in this land.
Caves filled with crystals and gems shining with light, Brilliant glowing water filling the underground lakes.
Be wary though, for what lies beneath the Isle in the sky, is a thousand mirrors, each reflecting a different scene in the world.

God's spheres: Light and Celestial Might, Growth of Wheat and Good Harvest, Future Visions and Far-Sight.

Sign of God: A Divine sight, as the Sun appears upon the Moon, it's reflection casting Light into the Night.
Brilliant Rays Fall, and where they rest, are brilliant Gems of Shining Light, in many colors.
These gems are holy, and bring great growth of life and wheat. So long as one prays during the Harvest Festival with these Gems, you can be assured that next seasons harvest will be just as Grand. These Gems also impart Visions in those of a curious persuasion, and feel Holy to those who hold them.
"Bring the Light of Fortune to Others!~"

God's Name: (Original name lost to the ages, but referred to as the Thousand-Eyed King with Plumes of Starfire and Frigid Tears (TEKwPoSaFT))
God's personality and goals: The Thousand-Eyed King is incredibly vain and sure of his own beauty and thus seeks to spread it to all. Despite his vaguely evil tendencies, he very much prefers assimilation over violence, which he considers the first resort of the Ugly.
God's physical description: The Thousand-Eyed King is a Peacock and therefore beautiful. His feathers burn with starlight, but the bitter tears he sheds for the abject ugliness of the world are impossibly cold.

God's realm descripiton:
Sprawling, sparsely populated woodlands filled with majestic, noble trees make up most of the Thousand-Eyed King's realm. Few petitioners who wander into these malevolent forests are seen again.
The Garden of Aethel, a lush, shining city hewn from marble and run with canals, lies at the "center" of the his realm. Miniature waterfalls form from gutters emptying into the canals, and flowers bloom for all eternity forever and ever.
The Thousand-Eyed King rules his marvelous domain from the Court of Mirrors, situated at the highest point in the Garden. It is a mirror-filled ziggurat with (non-toxic) quicksilver fountains where all, even the living, may come to admire the Thousand-Eyed King's form (and hopefully be shamed into bettering themselves and others). Mortals are required to remain within the confines of the Court of Mirrors at all times, lest they become entranced by the sights and smells of the Garden and wither away into insensate shades. ((= dead/removed from play))
God's spheres: Beauty, ghosts, and evil
Sign of God: The Thousand-Eyed King's Sign of God looses a flight of beautiful Peacocks for entire towns to see, inspiring both awe and an aching drive to beautify oneself with the possible ultimate goal of turning oneself into a Peacock. While the flight of Peacocks is visible, mortals may enter the Thousand-Eyed King's realm by carrying flowers and walking into reflective surfaces.

Quote
God's Name: Mardos; The Crawling King; Emperor of the Heap

God's personality and goals: Mulch to mulch, dust to dust; the Crawling King wishes for all to return to the primordial ooze of the cosmos, so that a new reality may be born again and again. The cycle of life and death is paramount to it, and thus it is not a cruel god. Instead Mardos acts like a doting pair of grandparents: maternal in how it give gifts to its children and its cheery personality, paretnal when it needs to be strict with unruly youngsters and do what needs to be done.

God's physical description: A massive, crawling mountain of refuse, debris and rot. Its form is much like that of a massive slug with a human upper body emerging from its front. On its hunched back lie the ruins of cities and metropolises, clawing at the sky as they are slowly pulled into the mire of its body. Its limbs are made of the decomposing skeletons of thousands of creatures and its face is a smiling mask of tarnished silver, melting gold and crushed precious stones.

God's realm description: Mardos's realm is the eponymous 'Heap' a massive mire of trash and slime that spreads out for thousands of miles. Huge trash heaps, the decaying refuse of civilization, break up the endless swamp that Mardos travels through. The tallest of these heaps, its core the highest mountain of a former recursion with a shell of rotted celestial woodland and burnt out plains of hell around it, holds a great platform. There petitioners can call upon the god and, if he is feeling indulgent that day, board him to live upon the great City of Rot on his back.

God's spheres: Decay,  Reincarnation, Fecundity

Sign of God: The dark, warm places nearby: hidden valleys, crags, basements and trash pits, begin to fester and rot at an insane speed. Plant and animal life begins to rapidly grow from these places, transforming them into strongholds of biodiversity and decay for a time.

God's Name: Mirus, the Mirage.
God's personality and goals: Vain, fickle and full of ego. He's opportunistic, never takes anything seriously and is also cowardly when facing real danger. He considers himself a master trickster and prankster, despite not being that funny.
God's physical description: Mirus' humanoid body is completely covered in colorful bandages, similar to a mummified body. The place in which his face should be is covered by a plain white comedy mask, and on top of his head lies a large jester hat.
God's realm descripiton: Mirus' realm could be best described as a house of mirrors. But these mirrors are also entrances to deeper parts of the infinite maze made by the reflections, never leading to an exit. At the center of the realm lies an amphitheater, in which guests can safely take a seat and admire the wonders of the jester god or exit into the maze. Anyone who enters gets lost forever into the endless halls formed by the reflections within reflections, trapped behind the mirrors for eternity. While the theather's central stage is safe grounds, Mirus will personally punish any mortal who dares enter the stage without his permission.
God's spheres: Mirrors, Tricks, Ilusions.
Sign of God: Mirus' sign affects all reflective surfaces, from mirrors to water and even eyes. All reflections suddenly change to become better versions of their parallels, revealing an utopic dimension where everything is perfect. Gazing in a reflection shows visions of an alternate mirror world, of things that could have been and how their lives could have been better had they made different choices in the past or had certain events out of their control never happened. The images beckon the gazer to join their world and make their wish true. This is all an illusion, though, and this fantastic world only exists in ther minds. Unreachable, like a mirage.

God's Name: The god equation
God's personality and goals: Unknowable, fickle, and somewhat hostile at times, but also devoted to its followers, and tends to be internally consistent.Their goal is simple, KILL MU.
God's physical description: An equation, floating in the air, formed of light an ever shifting
God's realm description: A shifting maze with a moving safespot as the pedestal, should one find themselves out of the safe spot, they will never leave the realm, and are imprisoned within, turned into shadowy figures who haunt other travelers.
God's spheres: The god equation, Quantum mechanics, Arcane mathmatics(Imaginary numbers, equations, geometry/angles, etc, that allow one to alter reality when properly applied),
Sign of God: (How you use it) I place the equation within a village, upon a cliffside.

Sign of God Card: A glowing carving, one that imparts knowledge of the first piece of the god equation, and thus the beginnings of arcane mathematics, into those who lay eyes on it.
Spoiler: old realm (click to show/hide)

Several of you mention mortals in your realms or using your realms for various things. Mortals may only stand on your pedestal in your realm. Its meant to be your reservoir of power, and a place where mortals can view your splendor unhindered. Leaving the pedestal for the reasons described, such as to gain some boon or advantage, will not occur. Death is hard and fast rule. That death can be creative, the death Glass described is fine (eternally becoming a realm NPC unable to leave), because they are removed from the game which is the equivalent of dying here.

So if your first action relies heavily on this, I would edit asap or risk having a really bad start. Several cards will depend on bringing mortals to your realm, so it's a hard and fast rule here.
