Wereman just means manman, which does nothing but remind me of the song from 2.5 Men.

That bypassed me, but "Wereman" is the true, etymological masculine of "Woman". It just means "human of masculine gender".

Technically, a werewolf of feminine gender should be called "wowolf" and that's adorable.

Werewolf is one of the gender exclusive words we tend to neutralize without thinking about it ; like "android" or "cow-boy"

I mean, it is just Khuzdul (Tolkien's Dwarven language) for "Axes of the Dwarves! A Dwarf is upon you!". Which is why I like the phrases, they're awesome war-cries.

I think Urist, for several reasons.

A dagger, while not being the "hero's weapon", is quite effective. It is not pretty, it is not flashy, but it works. It is also short, most effective when angry and inebriated (and less likely to stop stabbing), and finally, like many assassinations throughout history, capable of changing the fate of the world.

Urist is a fitting name for the dwarves.

so if urist means "dagger" and they call their race "dagger", then the dwarf urist McDaggerfighter would be "The Dagger Dagger McDaggerfighter"

Even before I learned of the etymology, I found Urist odd thing to call dwarves - for they can't produce any daggers. Calling kobolds Urists seemed much more sensible at the time.

As a term for the Dwarven species, my vote is for arkim "race (i.e. group)," which is the closest I can find for "people." Individual civs of Dwarves should, as Cathar points out, have their own endonyms.

sure, we identify as the human race, but even the germans do call themselves as the saxons, prussians, bavarians, etc.
so the different dwarven civs have their own names already, but their race would most likely be some kind of word for "people"
